Hammerstein NWC Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 I love steampunk and I love mecha's. This is what I came up with Back view Comments and feedback most appreciated! I'm new to this and would appreciate all feedbacks from wiser heads :) Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That is one brawny looking mecha! I like the boilers with steam coming out And excellent use of those helmets! Quote
Rufus Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Very nice! But Steampunk belongs in Sci-Fi (as do mechas). Moving! Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 That's awesome! Love the wooden detail on it's back! Quote
jFox Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Whoa, that hammer certainly looks like it's ready to do some pounding! Very beefy looking! I dig the scope on the (literal) hand cannon too. While I don't see this guy as much of a precision shooter, it's still a cool detail nevertheless. Excellent work on the details as well. Chains, screws, smokestacks/exhaust pipes. Very cool all around. Quote
Vindicare Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Now that is awesome! I love it, the details are great. the magnifying glass as the scope on the gun arm, the big stacks on the back. The piece usage is great too. The helmets to finish off the feet, the little wind up key from CMF Robot. Great little 'old time' additions that make it Steampunk. I would totally buy this if I saw it on the shelf. Quote
Ssorg Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) Nice! I love the "wooden" tiles. Edited May 25, 2012 by Ssorg Quote
DraikNova Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Pure awesomesauce! Admire the great work and supreme steampunking, people! Quote
K-Nut Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Beautiful work here! Love all the colors. The use of the Atlantis Helmets for the feet is pure genius. Great work! Quote
Axis600 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Wow. And I thought your Steampunk Jedi Training was epic. That's a sweet mecha right there. Are those Brickwarriors pieces? Quote
Si-MOCs Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Another great build! Fantastic! Though I'm curious ... why did you name it Queen's Hammer? it doesn't have a hammer, it does't really look like the Queen? The shape of the mech is fantastic. It FEELs so right. The shaping of the head with the saucer is also really well executed. Intended or not, the mix of new and old Grey worked really well. And you hid the joints really really well. I honestly don't have any real suggestions/negatives... except does it actually fit a minifig? (And yes I think those are Brickwarrior helmets ) Quote
DraikNova Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Just noticed how you used the CMF Clockwork robot's wind-up. Nice! Quote
brickmack Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Looks good, very beefy looking sort of. Looks ready to smash something. Nice use of that helmet on the feet too. Quote
rongYIREN Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 That's one tough looking Mecha, love the mix of colors. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Not a big fan of LEGO Mecha for some reason they seldom stir any emotion in me when made from LEGO; however I am a big fan of LEGO Steam Punk and as such this is a wonderful build, much more punk than mecha! Very evocative of the theme, looks like some giant hot water boiler on legs, with lots of pipes, arms and ice cream steam! Fantastic! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 I love that it looks like it's wearing a hat Quote
Hammerstein NWC Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) Another great build! Fantastic! I honestly don't have any real suggestions/negatives... except does it actually fit a minifig? (And yes I think those are Brickwarrior helmets ) It's called the Queen's hammer because it is a dreadnought in Queen Victoriana's army. I added the Hammer because it is the flagship of her fleet I van imagine it smashing anything in its path. The colour combo's evolved out of necessity the body was the only bit I planned properly - I did a design where the cockpit opened but when I built the hatch on top the need for that diminished and I was able to contour out the front a bit. A minifig can comfortably sit or stand inside the central area. Again in the first build these was no cockpit lass and the figs head could be seen in the black frame. :). If I do a mech like this again I will take progress shots. Thanks all for the very kind words and positive feedback Edited June 10, 2012 by Hammerstein NWC Quote
