With no evidence at all, I make the guess that 2013 will bring us an updated equivalent of the Mobile Crane from 1978

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=855-1

I don't think this would be the flagship, I think it would fill the second slot in the range, and would be motorised for a number of functions, but not full RC.

It would be either a 2 axle rough terrain crane (Grove, Terex etc), or a 3 axle city crane (Demag, Liebherr etc).

It wouldn't be a huge model, it would be in scale with 8109 etc, and would use very compact, intricate mechanisms, whilst avoiding the excessive weight of larger models.

What a silly guessing game :classic:

You mean a hybrid of electric motor power and giant pushing you along the floor power?

I think 2013 is gonna give us something we've all been waiting for, the designers blog have already mentioned their excitement about 2013 sets and can't wait till they can show us. Of course by "us" they don't necessarily mean AFOLs, but who knows! I still believe there is a trend for brilliant flagship one year followed by awesome parts pack if nothing else kinda set the next year (exceptions granted), so with 8110 being one of the best ever, followed this year by the crawler which gives us HOPEFULLY amazing new motors, 2013 should be amazing.

I would still love to see a walking robot (maybe a Technic-Asimo) :sweet:

Also a model of a Chinook would be great (the blades exist, and there is going to be a B-model with interleaved rotors)

Maybe strange, but a PF-garbage truck would also be fun (a reborn of the bar-code truck)

EDIT

almost forgot, a re-issue of the legendary space shuttle with PF and pneumatics would be a dream come true

Yeah I am very much hoping for, some combo model. Like the ones combing pneumatics and PF.

That could be the space shuttle, to celebrate that it has end more 30th years of service to nasa.

Or it could be a walking bot, with pf motors and a new nxt chip, geared for working with PF.

There plenty of usefull and powerfull SoC(System on Chip) solutions lego could combine into a new brick and shave off the unwanted functions(wifi, gps, 3g/lte, gyro, accelerometers).

Another options is them leaving all, pf elements has to been in set police. And instead release a highly advanced supercar platform. It could be two diffentent options.

1. Model + PF motors think some like one servo, and 2 L(XL?) motors for drive and a PF-S(small) motor for secondary functions(gears, doors...) But none R/C nore batteries boxes.

2. Model + but strip for PF. But got more baseline features and ready for the biggest PF upgrade so fare sanctioned by TLG.

Did you meant something like THIS ?

Do you think Barcode multiset rebuilt to studless + PF modified Code reader?

Did you meant something like THIS ?

No :classic: There have been lots of truck cranes (separate driving / crane cabs). The cranes I have in mind only have one cab. They also have a short chassis, which requires a short, compact, multi-stage boom. It would be an interesting model, and early-teenage boys in Germany might like it (this is allegedly the main market for Technic).

After last years events I decided not to post or even ask about any real news about next years sets. Remember theme: "Lego will never make 4x4 crawler" :) People are just not ready for this kind of news without pics, so I guess we will all have wait untli late summer when catalogue will be out. But be sure: 1 and 2h sets ready, together with prelim boxes and prices.

What I would like to see is 1:8 formula racer as flagship and (pf) forklift as second set.

i predict some construction vehicles, a couple of recreational vehicles and probaly an aircraft of some kind.

I like red and yellow  . Maybe also bley and black. But what we need is a re-release. I really want to see something like 8455 or a stud less supercar resembling 8880. Maybe even something newer such as 8285. I also loved 8258. Something in similar fashion to that set should come out (maybe some sort of firetruck?).

I know its crazy, but what about a flagship size semi truck with trailer or whatever functions. We have the Unimog tires, so why not a big semi? That would be nice, especially if it is more of an American style semi. Or have the rebirth of the barcode truck.

Although it would be a somewhat original idea for a set, I cant see that there would be many functions in such a truck. I am hoping for anything but another crane or the same tractor with a different color scheme.

Remember , Techinc is not only for adults. A semi truck with Unimog wheels would be MASSIVE as well as expensive, including time consuming to build. We just need something that would woo kids, adults, and wallets!

(a semi with normal tires would also be pretty big)

I would also like to see a rebirth of the 8285 Tow Truck, and maybe the reintroduction of chromed (or metallic) Technic parts, like chromed wheels!!

Or maybe a whole year of sets that don't have red, I'm getting sick of all the red whenever there's a different color that would make the set better. I would also like a full transmission, but that's probably the next super car. Maybe we will get new plates, like the 3x11 plates like the Unimog prototype had. Maybe a new motor set(s) with the new motors, maybe new gears or new sizes, new beams that have been designed, new kinds of vehicles. Maybe we finally get a boat! We still have about six months before we find out half of it all, but I expect leakage of images like always.

New isn' t really the best. The originality gets left behind and I prefer things that are now, just updated. I would agree with new motor sets (like 8293) but I hate painted parts such as chrome plated wheels.

something I would like to see is a crawler crane, like 8288, except using the larger tracks, which would result in it being a little bit bigger than 8288. not neccesarily the flagship unless it was remote controlled like the 2010 Excavator (the gearing would probably end up quite similar, except string reels attached instead of LA's)

a rerelease of 8421 would be awesome. It was my first flagship, and I thought it was absolutely amazing! It would have to have at least two telescoping pieces obviously, unlike 8053, which only had one.

8285, not so much, not after the logging truck this year, which was fairly similar.

I would like to see a large forklift, the last one was in 2005.

another thing I would like to see is a newer version of the motorbox with more technical parts, like 8287

we have had three helicopters in three years, each one increasing in size, so maybe give that a miss for a couple of years.

a flagship aircraft would be awesome. I know there was a jet this year, but the last one before that was 8434 in 2004 (my first technic set)

I definitely think a flagship supercar would be great though. last year's one was pretty good, but you have to go all the way back to 2001 (8466), or 1999 (8448) to find the last one before that.

PLEASE more blue! half the blue pieces I have (that aren't pins) come from seats!

Well a forklift would be on my personal top three for 2013. It should come with a few but important improvements. Firste extra long pneumatics cylinders for the lift it self. Secondly a PF-pneumatic valve or two, for conrolling the raise of the lift. And maybe also the tilt of the lift. Depending on cost, they could either include the 8110 compressor or built moveable(think a servo for steering and either a pf-xl or pf-l for drive).

we do have already the 8264 dump truck (yes a hauler, not really big one). That one fits the excavator.

I analysed 35 years of technic. Blue sets don`t inspire that much. I am pretty sure blue doesn`t fit for construction theme, I tried to do some blue on the excavator. However if you want a blue set, they should change the box. Or at least the background of the box. (where the sales start for most people)

You really need a native blue object. Probably combined with white. The lego-blue isn`t a perfect color imho. I only have 8052 and 8273. For looks not the most exiting sets in my collection. 8461 F1 car is not technic but looks nice on my screen but haven`t seen it in real life.

Blue and white is a great combination, and the excavator would look great in that scheme. However, an entirely blue model doesn't look good like you've shown in your picture, i would have made the superstructure blue and white, and kept the digging arm all black. You need some variance when it comes to blue...
