As the June store calendar shows, the Lego store at the Jersey Gardens mall in Elizabeth New Jersey will have its grand opening from June 15-17. The store has been open since May 18 and the NJ GardenSLUG pitched in to build the store displays. I did several of the larger sets and was able to see first hand the work done in the store to build all the shelvings/panels, etc.

Just a couple of things happening during the grand opening;

1) SpongeBob will be the Lego model to be built, help out and get a certificate

2) $35 purchase will get you a T-Shirt (June 15 Friday), Lego store set(June 16 Saturday) and CMF (June 17 Sunday)

I'll be there on Saturday helping out with the Build-A-Model and of course to get the limited edition lego store set. The store manager from the Bridgewater store transferred to the Jersey Gardens store.

PS. I'll be posting any updates that I find out about this event.

Hey ACPin, I will be there too. Any advice on where to line up? Sine it is inside the Jersey Garden mall right? Even if I get there early I have to wait for the mall to open up first.

The closest gate would be "D" where the tourist/public buses drop/pickup passengers. I'll find out more about the hours when the mall/store opens as the date gets closer. Be sure to drop by the build for SpongeBob and help out if you can.

Sure thing. See you there. Any ideas on the Exclusive Minifigs on Sunday? Is it a custom torso print?

No clue yet for the Sunday minifig, I'll update this thread when I find out more details.

I'll be there Saturday morning from 9:00AM until 1:00PM. Store opens at 10:00AM and not sure what time the mall opens to let people in besides the workers.

Unfortunately I will be in Pittsburgh this weekend. My friend is going so he is going to try and help me get the set and the Spongebob Brick. Hoepfully they will allow him to make separate purchases. I even gave him my VIP card so it is a separate transaction.

Too bad you can't be there but I don't think he's going to have any issues with the purchase.

It took a bit of schedule arranging, but I'll be there for sure! :classic: I plan on getting there early and staying for a few hours. The building event is always fun (I've been to an R2-D2 building event in the past, it was very hectic but cool), and it's hard to pass up an opportunity to get one of those exclusive store sets. Looking forward to the 16th!

Hey Canticleer blues, FYI the Spongebob building event has an exlcusive Spongbob printed Duplo block. You need the Post card to redeem it. But maybe if you meet up with ACpin he can hook it up?

I sent my postcard to my friend. He has one already but I want the brick too.

Any update on when and where to line up on Sat, ACPin? Hopefully you can hook me up, I need to make separate transaction for the Lego Store set and Spongbob brick for myself and a friend :classic: Thanks in advance!

@Solscud007: Ah, I wasn't aware of the brick, having only read about it in this thread. As far as I'm aware I haven't received a post card for this event ( could've missed it I suppose  ). Therefore I'm not sure if ACpin can really help me there, but if he's willing to help somehow then that would definitely be pretty cool.

@Ottolam: If you're talking about where to line up in the mall, it's likely that the store's location will be detailed on one of those directory signs, so by following what those say you should be able to find the place easily.

Went to check out the Grand Opening event on Sat. 10:15am was the earliest I could get there, and there was already a line stretching about 75 ft. Got nervous that they would run out of the special edition store model, but the mall coordinators confirmed that they had plenty left! It was about 40 min wait in line outside, and another 20 min to purchase. The store looks nice though, and, yes, I was able to get the store model AND a mini Sopwith Camel.

Afterwards I went to check out the Master Builder event where people could help construct an 8ft Spongebob. Unfortunately I couldn't assist with work looming down on me! Oh well. I must say, we in NJ are quite lucky with 3 stores now!

Some pictures of the store and event below.

I was stationed at the table beside the last pic where the white bricks were placed.
