VBBN Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I like Rocka's design in 3.0 quite a bit. his large helmet and very attractive gold color scheme. I just don't feel like he was done all too well in the series. Rocka 3.0 was a smaller hero, much slimmer and of course used the slim torso. Rocka XL was hindered by articulation issues and the Fire Lord build. I wanted to make a big rocka, but not big as in the XL. More along the lines of just bulked up. I know lions generally have a thinner figure, and that is where some of the inspiration for the thinner rocka came from. But With his helmet, I just felt a bulkier design was more approriate. Images aren't the greatest, no editing was done to these because the gold wouldnt translate well. I'm think of taking off the black pieces on his shoulders With my furno 3.0 who I also changed up a bit, but furnor is roughly the same height as your standard hero. And "exploded" view under his chest armor, with the bits moved out so you can see what was used And this is simply just a quick teaser for what I am currently working on Quote
turtleman2020 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 All right where to start... Rocka looks awesome and he looks like someone you do not want to angry. He definetly looks bulked up alot. Also can you post how you did the legs. Finally is that an ultimate Firelord or Firelord XXXXXXXXXXXL? Quote
xxlrocka Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Oh YES!!! You, sir, have done the very thing no one I know has done. I love this rocka....LOVE it. I also love that furno you also made. Is that thing you are working on a better fire lord, by any chance? Quote
Cirkit Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Despite agreeing with what you said about lions generally having leaner figures, I also agree that the bulk does the MOC good. He's a bot, packed with upgrades, no matter what animal he's meant to represent. I like that you've given him hands and claws, however I feel the use of the silver paw pieces instead of gold or black is a little off putting. I also liked (while focusing on the upper body)how much bulk there was without being too wide, and the fact that he's armored so well in back. I guess the best method for back armor is to just lay the bone pieces there and armor them(it works so well here!).. I ought to try that the next time I build a bulky figure. I think you should leave the black pieces on the shoulders- gives Rocka a wild feel, and if you let your imagination really soar, you could imagine those pieces as some sort of leafy camouflage when he's out stalking prey through the bushes of Quatros.. That big guy next to Rocka in the last pic.. I had a project, still working on it, that looked pretty big.. until I saw that leg. I mean, wow. Judging by the colors I'm assuming you're going to create a Mega-FireLord? Sweet. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) While Rocka seems kinda fat, otherwise he's okay. Can't believe I missed that ultra-Fire Lord (Plasma Lord?). And why do those claw pieces look gunmetal? Edited May 29, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
ZORK64 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 I have to agree, the bulked up Rocka looks really neat. My only complaint would be that he looks a bit too thin/short around the waist/crotch area. I guess it's his thigh's fault, if they would be also a bit bulkier he would look better. But aside from that, fantastic work overall! Quote
