I won't chastise those who said their character reminds them of themselves: sometimes a character is created by blowing a personality trait you have out of proportion. :shrug_oh_well:

However, I was hoping for more media based characters from books, television and the like. :shrug_confused:

Well my CAT character, Luridan Voros, actually reminds me of the original Doctor Who, the one played by William Hartnell, they're both old, irascible, bad tempered, and slightly vain. Of corse there are substantial differences.

...always voiced by Sean Connery.

This brings a new depth to Skrall. I'll have to read him with a more British accent... "Shkrall".

I think of Matthias as being voiced by a miniature Barry White.

My character is not developed enough to say who he reminds me of. However, his sense of humor is basically half of my dad's sense of humor blown out of proportion

He then turns to Lyren, his eyes watery because he can't stand looking at the boy's horrendous hair.

"Now you are gonna try to use the Phoneix Essence on the boy, and we'll get all of you to safety before you die."

He says, trying to look heroic in front of Drucilla. He then starts writing a grammatically horrific letter to Karie.

"we are at the darc plase and we hav secured liren hinkwel well come 2 u dont worry"

I feel that Heckz needs to be highlighted as a character. I think a lot of people are too concerned with making their character likable either through good intentions (this includes a "secret heart of gold" characters) or through being so bad-@ss that it doesn't matter their intentions. But Heckz is a pretty awful person, with no hidden heart of gold, and he's not brutally a-moral but more light-heartedly amoral. And I love it. He's probably my favorite character to read. Look at how much that above post does!

-It focuses on his love of good looks, and his hatred of bad looks (a unlikable characteristic, but still hilarious).

-It still makes him LOOK like he's upset for killing Lyren's friend, when really he's only wet-eyed because of the bad looks - aware of the situation, but making fun of it through narration and the lens of his character. It plays off of how he should react versus how he is reacting: he's doing the right motions for the wrong reasons.

-It AGAIN further plays up that idea, as he only pretends to be Heroica for Drucuilla.

-It also builds his relationship with her, and reinforces what we know about them.

-And THEN he takes a jab at his poorly educated character, which is something we simply don't have enough variety of in this game. Most characters have excellent memory and are well educated, but that's not the way the world is, and we ignore that diversity (again, we want our character to be likable/awesome, and we don't generally associate ill-educated with either of those things). Heckz/CutCobra does it in a manner only Cronk was brave enough to try in the past.

And it all does that in only four lines.

Just thought I'd publicly commend Heckz/CutCobra, if only to let him (them?) know that I really appreciate the work he's (they've?) been doing.

Do you guys usually read quests that are currently going? Even if you are not on them?

Yes, generally, I do. Although when you throw Endgame and Flipz together in the same quest, that quest takes a long time to read usually, still I struggle on.

So far the only characters I am familiar with are Guts, Dyric, Dak, Cronk, Atramor, Nyx, and Rufindel. The ones that stand out the most so far are Cronk, Nyx, Atramor and Guts.

Heckz is certainly one of my favourite characters to read in Heroica. Most of his interactions are pure gold.

Why, thank you. Even though I was trying to make a simple post without thinking about ALL those little details. But still, thank you.

And don't worry, I'm only one person.

CorneliusMurdock is still very active as a moderator on Eurobricks, but he doesn't hangout at Heroica much anymore.Too busy, probably.

Aw, that's a shame :look:

I wholeheartedly agree about about Heckz. He's one of my favorites to read and is always entertaining.

Even though I was trying to make a simple post without thinking about ALL those little details.

But that's the greatest thing about it - if you become really familiar with your character you don't have think about what you're writing. The character writes itself. :sweet:

Is your PC turning out as you envisioned in the beginning?

Are you actively controlling your PC to mold them into your original intent, or are you letting quests/stories/external forces shape your PC?

The latter. There's always been an overarching plan for Hybros, but the exact details have been up in the air, and the way that he would achieve the goal has been (and still is) a mystery. I think he's changed a lot as a character due to the circumstances that he becomes involved in, and his views and personality have been altered since the beginning. For example, he's still timid and cautious, but isn't afraid to be aggressive when he needs to in order to get the job done. Also, he's become less selfish and one to "look out for himself" and more utilitarian as time has progressed. Most of the changes are not of my own doing either; the quests he's been on and the characters he's interacted with have shaped him, and there has been some more direct development on the parts of Zepher, CallMePie and Sandy with their stories and NPCs.

That's me speaking for my character. To anyone who puts an emphasis on roleplaying, in my opinion it's always better to let the game form the character, not the other way around (although the line can blur sometimes).

I never had any set-in-stone original intent, so....definitely the second one. Letting the game shape your character is one of the best parts of roleplaying.

Nothing set in stone for me. I've said how different of a character I had planned for Althior, and just look at how different he is from his first incarnation now! When I come up with characters for this game, I make a point to set nothing really in stone besides their personalities. It's really nice to have a character that has absorbed the interactions around them and taken from them what they will.
