Kintobor Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 We've moved away from discussion about roleplaying and into stats. If you guys want to talk about the MoG and the AM, I think it'd be better suited for the General Discussion thread. Quote

Now seems like it'd be an excellent time for the "Rush Hero" skit and discussion, though. Quote

Flipz Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Sarge grasped at his beads, maing sure they were still there. "Already got that covered mate." A sheepish grin momentrily crossed his face, which turned sour when he remembered what he needed the beads for. The curse. He lowered himself to his knees, as much as his pegleg would allow. And, holding the beads tightly in his hands - knuckles white - prayed, to what or whoever was listening. After a few minutes of kneeling there silently he slept Beautiful roleplaying. Quote
Pyrovisionary Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Beautiful roleplaying. Thank you, it really means alot I checked back on Heroica a couple of times between #100 and #130. I came very close to killing Sarge off. And I am so glad I did not Quote
Kintobor Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 "Great job everybody!" and does a fist bump with Em but walks off from the others still "toxicated" by the dark charm and bloodlust. This is the first time I've seen it happen with you, Mencot, but I'd prefer to nip this in the butt before it grows. Never, under any circumstances, should you roleplay for other characters. Ever. You as a player do not know how a PC or NPC would respond to your action, so do not dictate their action for them. This is considered bad form. Quote
Mencot Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Okay sorry now I see it, I consider it also and beware from totally doing it. It was meant as a Keliim "does a fist bump" and awaits his responce but there wasn´t one from Em, so Keliim got duped. But yea should had reread what I wrote and remade it again in an other way to make it clear that Keliim was attempting to do a fist bump with Em after the fight. Lind Whisperer Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 This is kind of interesting. On the one hand, Lind's very much a "technology is bad" sort of person, because he's afraid of a Class 2 extinction, brought on by too rapid technological advancement. But he's joining up with the side that promotes rapid technological advancement*. *Although this is justified by the fact that he's merely against technology out-pacing the people that create it, causing power shifts, mass destruction because of lack of preparedness, etc. He's just fine with normal technological advancement. StickFig Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Stepping inside the Sungold Shop she pins a golden badge to her chest and then purchases 2 bright polishes, for 500 gold. Any explanation for these moves? Out of curiosity. The sunburst badge? Identification. Voting for Lorcan? Ask Nerwen in the hall.... I just want to point out that this is (IMHO) an excellent bit of roleplay. 1) There's nothing in the Sungold Alliance topic to suggest badges, but Chromeknight made the effort to build the scenario - in a believeable and approachable way. Who knows, it might even turn into a movement or a standard, which might make the story more interesting later! 2) The badge gives every hero a chance to start conversations with Nerwen - like Matthias definitely will, as soon as he gets back to the Hall. No one knows (in character) that Guts or Lind has voted for themselves over at the Crescent Union, and they won't unless they either visit there or speak to them. No one knows who Nerwen voted for, either, but it is immediately obvious that she has chosen a side, no awkward player/character knowledge separation required. 3) Since Nerwen's the first to vote in Sungold Alliance, and she the first character to really make it public, it allows other characters (like Matthias) who may not have any idea who to vote for, despite knowing which side they are on (perhaps because they have no other choice), the option to seek out a more experienced hero's ideas without fear of approaching the wrong hero (like someone who's voted, but not publicly, for the other side). While that might also make interesting role play and can be accomplished with player knowledge rather than in-character knowledge, Nerwen has given other Sungold-leaning characters the gift of going second (much like Guts gave all the players that gift). Thanks, Chromeknight! Quote
Kintobor Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Just wait until I introduce my oft-recast second character: Bob the Amnesiac Mindflayer! (...Yeah, barring Sandy barring Mindflayer as a PC race, I'm actually serious.) Not going to shoot down the idea, but amnesiacs are old hat. I just find it's not very interesting. There's way more interesting character types to choose from that allow evil races to be in a good aligned party. Characters who were adopted into a church and brought up to worship a good aligned deity, or perhaps never encountered their own race are better alternatives, and they work better in RP, too. Quote

But having him be amnesiac is funnier. A smiling, cheerful, friendly knight, that has no idea he's a horrible, mind-controlling abomination.Think OotS's Xykon's Monster in the Darkness. Quote
KotZ Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 But it's cliche. Extremely. Jason Bourne comes to my mind, though he's not terribly cheerful. Unikitty even yet she's not amnesiac. Quote
Endgame Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 How is Terry coming along? I've tried to give him a confidence boost during 141. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Trust us, Amnesiacs are funny for their first quest while they're experiencing everything for the first time and you can play the whole ignorance is bliss thing, but after that they're simply annoying. You're free to try one, but you probably won't get a lot of people interested in playing with him/her/it. Quote

You might want to have a moment where he just gets fed up with Jinnipher, and 'tells her off, even though it's not nice," but that's just my opinion... Edited October 1, 2015 by Lind Whisperer Quote

Duvors Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 May I ask why you want him amnesiac when it's been shown that Mindflayers are perfectly capable of living with other races without any problems? Unless you plan to make him a Greater mindflayer in which case I suggest you just throw the whole idea out the window completely. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Fair. Would you mind if I PM'd you my other plan for a second character, to see what your thoughts were? (I know, it is a very long time away, but since the subject came up...) Feel free, I'm always interested in new PC or NPC just because they offer more opportunity for the world to expand. Quote
