captaintau Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Why is it at the moment (for the last week or so) every time I click on a link in Eurobricks (ANY link - next page, View New Posts, Reply, anything) I have to get and error and go back before I can selct to go there again. Always the same. Works the second time. I know I'll have to copy this text into Word to paste back in a second when I get an error when I select "post new topic" What's happening? Quote
Jipay Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Since I don't have the problem I dunno what you're talking about. Does it make the same kind of stuff at other boards (invision like) ? Did you upgrade your internet browser lately ? Quote
Khorne Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I don't think it's his browser, I have this problem, too. It's really annoying >:-( . Quote

captaintau Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 Yeah, I get a "cannot find server" message. Not done any browser upgrades recently. Not problems with other sites. It just started happening without obvious reason Quote
captaintau Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 I was using Internet Exploiter too. So now I use Firefox for EB. So now I just keep getting "timed out" errors instead! Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Well that's your mistake in the first place :-P IE is notorious not only for security holes, but for not being up to internet standards, forcing programmers to lower their standards for IE users. It wouldn't surprise me if it was just IE showing its weakness in this case. Quote

Hobbes Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Well that's your mistake in the first place :-P IE is notorious not only for security holes, but for not being up to internet standards, forcing programmers to lower their standards for IE users. It wouldn't surprise me if it was just IE showing its weakness in this case. Actually, it's FF that doesn't display this forum entirely correct, and it's not flawless, either. But I don't wanna start an IE vs. FF war (i'm using both myself). I've noticed long response times once or twice, too, now. If you experience it again click the "cancel" button (if there isn't a response after a few seconds, don't wait until an error message) and then click the link you wanted again. This works for me. It's only a workaround, though, I don't know what the reason behind the long responses is. I'm guessing overloaded server connections... Quote
oo7 Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Actually, it's FF that doesn't display this forum entirely correct, and it's not flawless, either. Exactly! Firefox doesn't display the title of the thread at the bar at top of the thread nor does it display the textured margins in the threads with Brick Miner's skins when IE does. I usally use MF these days and I don't get any error 404. Although when I use it, IE works fine for me too. Captain Tau, what are these "timed out" errors? Quote
captaintau Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Captain Tau, what are these "timed out" errors? I click on a link. I wait. I get a window saying something like "error: the peration timed out". You want an exact error message? Edit: It happened now Alert Operation timed out whilst trying to contact eurobricks.ispyn.com (or something like that) Edit: and again Quote
Scouty Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 Yeah, when I use MF, I don't see thread titles at top, but when I went to IE, they were there. 8-| . Quote
Starwars4J Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 That's...really odd. I see topic titles at the top of the window when I'm on Eurobricks forums... *wacko* Quote
captaintau Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 We're investigating Can't ask for more than that Quote
conductorjoe Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I might be able to help... Are you guys who are having this problem using a modified proxy server? Or are you at the library or something, because government places use modified proxies. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 5, 2006 Governor Posted December 5, 2006 Actually, it's FF that doesn't display this forum entirely correct, and it's not flawless, either. But I don't wanna start an IE vs. FF war (i'm using both myself). My FireFox seems to display the forums properly, or at least the same as Internet Explorer does. However, Firefox and Opera do not display the frontpage properly as nothing in the right column is visible. I.e. the Google Ad or the "Friends" links. I've used Firefox 1.5 through to 2.0 and this problem has been consisted in all versions. Is this the fault of the Invision programmers? Because if it is I don't think its acceptable they release software that isn't compliant with Mozilla based browsers. Quote

snefroe Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 i think it's solved... i haven't gotten any errors for the last 20 minutes, so it's ok again... thanks, in case you guys were responsable :-$ if not... oh well... X-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 9, 2006 Governor Posted December 9, 2006 Hmmm, dunno what to tell you then. Try downloading the latest versions of your browser. In case you weren't aware FireFox 2.0 was only released a few weeks ago and FireFox notifies new updates each time it loads, so I'm pretty sure I have the latest version. However, my message was directed towards Hobbes and Jipay since they're the Eurobricks root administrators. Quote
