Good work. And it's good, that lowering 3:1 gear is situated after u-joint shaft and there is no unimog's Portal axle housing reduction. Good idea for supercars including RC

 Another great innovation by the Technic Master! I like the option of selecting either the small pneumatic cylinder or a small Linear Actuator: "Small pneumatic cylinder shown in the example is only one of several possible ways to control locking....it is also possible to use a motor – directly or, for example, with a small linear actuator." Thanks for sharing the building instructions:

Any chance of seeing it set up with a mini LA? :classic:

Feel free to make and show a variation. I stick to pneumatics here because it's convenient (also, the MOC I invented it for will be using 3 of these) and I'd rather not spend time making something I won't be using, especially when it's fairly easy to do.

Very good idea, but does that 12t gear contact the differential?

You always come up with some great ideas, and I'm curious to see what you are creating with this mechanism.

Let's say it's on the brink of contacting it.

Thanks. I'm building this:

That's going to be one cool model! I like your idea a lot, very compact and efficient. The instructions look beautiful as well  .

Sometimes I've seen the "T" pneumatic piece to control the driving rings, it might work fine on this, I think :sceptic::sweet:

Congratulations this is another cool and smart design

Sariel your mech genius default_tong.gif . Do you off the bat think it possible to design. A drive train for tracked tank, with differential drive and four motors.

To plain right now the tank(I post it earlier, several month ago I think), just has four pf-xl attach at all the corners or you say at both ends off the track.

But I am admit to have looked much into differential drive and suspended drive train. Since I see from it performance that with its pikes grib the tracks sometime runs out of sync.

One of the idea i am toying with in my head, would be two off your diffential drive add gear trains. And simply set to them together back to back. But I am fearing the trouble that could give, since then could each end of the tracks get out sync. And yes I have heared crouncing sound from the gears right now, that when they are block/stalled at one end. Has made my a bit nervous.

And btw. I am almost 99,99+% sure that I am going to get the new book of yours, as and very late birthday present for myself :sadnew:

Thanks. I don't think any differential drive is going to withstand the power of 4 XL motors. I've built a 3 kg heavy tracked vehicle with 2 XL motors and differential drive, and the gears inside the differentials kept getting broken repeatedly. Differentials are simply too sensitive for that kind of torque.

Yeah I am concern to, but do you think is it possible to make the drive train? And honestly I don't have skill nore time to design it myself. But I am looking forward to a lot of building after my exams. So I am proberly gonna give it try, either if I get around to loot/buy the need pieces of BL.

Oh btw. what vehicle of yours was it and is posted on your site(http://sariel.pl) ?
