Lynx Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Thanks for the review Lynx! Can I ask where you mangaed to pick this set up in Australia so soon? Cheers, Slobey Sure! I got it at Myer (Sydney CBD) during their one day sale last week. Myer had Helm's Deep, Weathertop and Uruk-hai Army. You can also find some sets at Toys R Us (Miranda). They had Moria, Uruk-hai Army and Gandalf Arrives. Supposedly, they'll get Helm's Deep on June 6 at a special price. Quote

Cool, I might have to have a hunt around, it might take them a little while longer to get over to WA though. cheers. Quote
ThePyroMaster Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 It looks pretty great, but for 60 bucks and only 400 pieces its a bit overpriced. Quote

Ferrik Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 This looks like a great set. Well done on the review! Quote
legomonk Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I do not have this set yet, though I have a lot of LOTR sets. I want it bad specially after this review. Its a great structure. Quote
Ceroknight Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Thank you for the review! This is the only set I really wanted in this line but very expensive Quote
Torgar Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Great review! The set may be overpriced, but I'm still planning on getting one soon. Quote
Captain Settle Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I don't mind that this set is overpriced because of some "Price to piece Ratio". In my opinion if the finished product is good I might get it, like with this set. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 That's a good philosophy to have. Even though the ratio isn't great, it's still a very good set. Quote
SheepEater Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 (edited) One of my Nazgul has a silver belt buckle thingy on the bottom right of the torso, the other Nazgul is just gray. Are they both supposed to be silver? All of the official Lego images show it as gray, but the BrickLink image shows it as silver. Edited July 25, 2012 by SheepEater Quote
Combee Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 One of my Nazgul has a silver belt buckle thingy on the bottom right of the torso, the other Nazgul is just gray. Are they both supposed to be silver? All of the official Lego images show it as gray, but the BrickLink image shows it as silver. I just checked mine, 3 of them are silver and 1 is gray. I'm assuming they are supposed to be silver and there was some minor printing issue. Quote
SheepEater Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Anyway, regarding the inclusion of Merry in the set (while Sam and Pippin are absent): I think it's worth noting that Merry is the only member of the Fellowship of the Ring who successfully manages to seriously harm a Nazgul (their leader, no less). Way, way later than in this scene, but still. Quote
Legonardo Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Very good review, a well written one that touches on all the details, great job! one thing to improve would be to show interesting parts in an AFOL builders view, I know you don't build but that would really finish it off! keep it up! ~Legonardo~ Quote
TheDarkness Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I arrived eagerly home from holidays yesterday to find some of my LOTR sets had arrived. Opening up the Weathertop set, I was excited. The set looks fantastic. Opening up the bags there are some interesting pieces and building methods used. The minifigs are awesome, Aragorn does need a cape though. He looks a bit bare without it. I also have 1 silver 1 grey bucklet on my two Nazgul Whilst the set itself is small, it really is gorgeous. The way the hinges make the curved outline give it an eroding style of look. I don't think much of the play elements (trapdoor, flick fire missiles?) but they aren't aimed at me and can easilly be rectified. Now my next task is to create a larger one! Thanks for a fantastic review! Quote
Lightning Dragon Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) In one of the display cases in my local Lego store, Merry's just eating while his buddies battle off the bad guys. Nice review! I will not be getting this one, because I think it's too overpriced, and I have already spent a lot of money on Lego this month. EDIT: spelling Edited July 10, 2012 by Lightning Dragon Quote
SheepEater Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 In one of the display cases in my local Lego store, Merry's just eating while his buddies battle off the bad guys. That's pretty much what happens on the box cover. Quote
Shushen Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Nice review. I think this is the one set i will get from the LOTR wave. Its an ok size and it also feel more "complete" than some of the other sets. I get a feel of loose walls on a movie set from some of those. Also, ringwraiths. Quote
Kronicle Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hey man thanks for the great review. I was just wondering whether the trapdoor element was included or your own mod. I dig the fact that their is such a great variety of pieces for MOC's. This review helped me decide whether to invest in LOTR. These sets aren't realeased yet in South Africa. But I will get this one first! Quote
Lightning Dragon Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 That's pretty much what happens on the box cover. Yes, but in the case, Merry's on the other side, and he has double the food Quote
Rocketbilly Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 This is a very nice set and a great review, very in depth. really like this set however unless I can get it at a decent discount I don't think I'll be getting it. The details are great and I love the interior. Those new Nazgul capes are fantasitc, I'll be sure to pick some of those up eventually, thuogh I'll wait a while to see if they make a cheaper set in which ring wraiths appear. I agree with your criticism of Aragorn's leg printing too - in fact I think the whole colourscheme of that minifigure is a little too light compared to what we see in the film. Thanks for the great review, anyhow. Quote
