Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 It seems there are 2 models of the brown Flinklock musket. I wanted to buy some on Bricklink and found out that a certain seller added "New design" to the description. When I asked the seller what the difference is with the "old design", the answer was: "The older guns have a smooth indentation in the rifle butt, the newer ones have a triangle cut out each side". Does anyone of you guys have some more info or pictures of these differences? I would like to know some more details before ordering. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2006 Governor Posted November 28, 2006 I know what you refer to! I have seen such a musket and might even have one. Might take me a while to find one though... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 Eventualy I found a picture of a "new flintlock". This one is black, but they also seem to exist in brown. Till now, I only have "old flintlocks". I'm uncertain if I like these new ones and if I want to mix them with the old ones. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2006 Governor Posted November 28, 2006 There are definitely brown. I just went and looked but what I discovered was 3 months of unsorted LEGO from eBay auctions so I had to sort some of it so I can access the rest of it. Still haven't got to my musket reserves though... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 Now I found a new brown flintlock picture: And this is a better picture of an old brown flintlock: What could be the motivation of TLC to make a change to the design? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2006 Governor Posted November 28, 2006 So I guess I won't be needing to dig one up for you... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 No, but thanks for your efforts Mr. Phes! Now that we have the pictures, I'm wondering if I should buy these new ones (a certain BL seller has about 700 pcs, and I need about 120) or if it would be better to buy the old ones (like all the ones I already have). In the second case I have to buy from different shops or buy them more expensive. Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Once you have them on the figs, it shouldnt really be noticiable, I would think... Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 Did you end up buying those Imperial Guards from that Belgian seller? Yes, yesterday I have bought 100 Imperial Guards. That why I need to buy muskets. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2006 Governor Posted November 28, 2006 What's the other 20 muskets for then? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 28, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 28, 2006 What's the other 20 muskets for then? I also bought recently some 50 imperial soldiers for my French army and I have only 30 muskets for them. I might even buy 200 muskets to have some spare ones. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 28, 2006 Governor Posted November 28, 2006 And what of your frustration with the seller from Classic Castle? You said you were going to buy 269 mini-figures from this seller and most of them had muskets, however he didn't give you a response. Meanwhile you were contemplating buying 120 red Imperial Guard mini-figures from a Belgian BrickLink store. You still haven't updated me on the situation yet! Quote

But I posted this in the original thread Massive Napoleonic Armies for sale, On Classic-Castle.com. Quote
Scouty Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 That is interesting in new and old. What motivated Lego to make such a move? Who knows? Was it because the molds were destroyed in order to make room for more? I mean, it's not like the cut out does anything to improve, it's just display, the only thing it improves is maybe a couple grams of granule plastic is used. I'll have to see one of these in real life before I make any more comments on it, though. Quote

oo7 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Interesting indeed, I though all the rifels have the "new design" becuase that's the only type that I have (I have one new black rifle and my MISB Arkham that I will problably open soon has two new brown rifles). Now that I look at the old one, I think I like it better. Quote

Now that I look at the old one, I think I like it better. I agree that the old model looks better. Some bricklink shop has +700 pcs of the new model. I wonder in which sets that are? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 29, 2006 Governor Posted November 29, 2006 Peeron.com mentioned nothing about the newer type. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 29, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 29, 2006 Peeron.com mentioned nothing about the newer type. I was checking my muskets last night and I have no new models (out of 250 pieces). Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Interesting.... I believe I have some of the "new" and "old" muskets, maybe I'll post some pictures of them. Quote

Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I don't really care about the looks, I would by those which are cheaper(or is there no difference in price?). Quote
oo7 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention I got my new black rifle in 7113 Tusken Raider Encounter. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 29, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 29, 2006 I don't really care about the looks, I would by those which are cheaper(or is there no difference in price?). Well, at this moment it is only possible to buy the newest model on Bricklink when you need about 200 pieces and want to buy them from 1 seller. I send some emails to sellers who didn't make a remark about the model and it turned out they have the new model. So it will be difficult to avoid the new model since most sellers are not aware of the difference. Quote
