That's a good idea Sir Norrington. I didn't think of that yet. Thanks! Quote
jamtf Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 I only seem to have the old models in old brown and reddish brown (wanted some variety in those). Besides that, I like the old model better. X-D Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 4, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 4, 2006 I didn't know the old ones were also in reddish brown?? Now its becoming interesting. So there are 3 colors of flintlock muskets: Brown, Reddish brown, Black. But which ones are available in the old and new version? What I have seen so far: - Black: old (I have one) + new (seen on ebay) - Brown: old (I have) + new (seen on ebay). I have never seen one of the reddish brown color. But Mr. Tiber seems to have a new version of it. Has anybody seen an old versions of the reddish brown musket? Quote

I have old and new versions of the musket. The reddish brown ones I have are the new type with the triangle cut out of each side. The new ones also have a small hammer. The old ones have a pointed hammer (the thing that hammers on the pan to make the flintlock rifle shoot) while the new ones have a more rounded and smaller hammer. Quote
ZCerberus Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Well this post has been dead for a while, but I thought I would mention a few things. 1, the new design isn't terribly different, I would be more cautious as to the coloring. Reddish brown is defiantly different from brown. and 2, at the risk of sounding like captain obvious, I would guess the new musket uses less plastic is and is therefore cheaper to produce. You will notice that the old design sloped in, or was concave there, probably for the same reason! Quote
TaltosVT Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I would guess the new musket uses less plastic is and is therefore cheaper to produce. I don't have any of the newer style, but looking at the photos, does the new design allow a minifig to hold the musket by the end of the rifle butt, instead of just up near the barrel? -Elroy Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I can't see the difference in the new and old...Can someone point it out? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 20, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 20, 2006 I can't see the difference in the new and old...Can someone point it out? The older guns have a smooth indentation in the rifle butt, the newer ones have a triangle cut out each side. Some pics are in the beginning of this thread. Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 The oldschool rifle has no triangle at the butt(the back, by the trigger) and the new one has a frarely large triangle at the butt. ;-) Ahh ok I see now. Thanks. Evily Willy just look at the back of the old one and the new, do you see the triangle? ;-) Quote
Scouty Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 ??Huh?? Capn, Willy already knew, that's why he said "Ahh ok I see now. Thanks" ;-) . Boy, you sure are postin alot today. I recently saw a rather good pic of the new rifle, I still prefer the older one for classic and design reasons, but the new one is good as well :capn: . Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 21, 2006 Governor Posted December 21, 2006 Lets see how long he can keep this level of posting up :-D Where can we find this "rather good" picture of the new rifle Mr ImperialScouts? Quote
Scouty Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 the ebaysss. it's sticking out. So it's not too hard to find. Quote
Governor Broadside Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Boy, you sure are postin alot today. I hope you don't take this offensively because I don't mean this that way at all, but look who's talking! X-D You're the only one who has posted more than him today. In fact, over half of the top posters are pirate fans. 8-o (No wonder I have a hard time keeping up with the pirate section of EB!) Lets see how long he can keep this level of posting up :-D At his rate he'll soon dethrone ImperialScouts. :-D Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 21, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 21, 2006 I still haven't bought my riffles. I prefer the old ones, but they are not available in the right quantity on BL. Maybe I will buy new ones for my new English army and use the old ones for my French army. But I must say that this thread has been very informative. Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 15, 2007 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) After thinking about it for about 7 months, I finally decided to buy the new Flintlock model :-D . Just placed an order on Bricklink for 100 Flintlock muskets for my French army. Edited June 15, 2007 by bonaparte Quote
Fordo Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Musket's are rather expensive these days at what price did you get yours? My musket order will have to wait till I come back from two weeks at Virginia Beach. Quote

My musket order will have to wait till I come back from two weeks at Virginia Beach. I paid $0.5 per musket. But you can easily pay double if you want to :-D Not only muskets are getting expensive, same goes for the shako's, the red epaulettes, ... I don't think it is still possible at this moment to raise a big army of Imperial Soldiers or Guards. Not unless you are a very rich person. Edited June 15, 2007 by bonaparte Quote
Fordo Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Yes way to expensive, I have just run out of funds, so no more purchases for me for a while :( . On a higher note, just got a deal on 13 Imperial Soldiers for $4.40 each (instead of $6 a pop) and 6 cannons along with 80 brown epaulettes and a few horses. :) Quote
