Scouty Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Lugnet doesn't charge for posting privileges! The $10 is to become a member and host web pages on the site + keep your collection, piece counts etc in the database. I posted for years before becoming a member... God Bless, Nathan Oooooh, oh. Thanks. Besides more ships and fortresses, what can be added to the Lego Pirate Line? Quote
jamtf Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Oooooh, oh. Thanks. Besides more ships and fortresses, what can be added to the Lego Pirate Line? How about a 10 -20 minifig pack with all sorts of pirates and soldiers or perhaps a realistic well designed sunken shipwreck? I would certainly like to see an imperial trading post size pirate lagoon with rocks and lots of green or maybe some sort of port royal harbour scene with a dock, cliff and houses. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2006 Governor Posted November 30, 2006 I have to admit I find it easier to use than these boards (not an EB specific problem, just the Invision etc style)... Guess it is just what you are used to... What do you find easier about Lugnet? And have you posted anything in that thread? Quote
Capn Frank Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Got my confirmation email in less the 12 hours and have already posted on lugnet. My first dream set is a pirate ship (i love ships). but my second would be a UCS Imperial Fort that costs $200 to $300 (US) with 2,000 to 3,500 bricks. The fort would have lots of those white wall castle pieces and lots of figs and specialty figs only availible with that set. (drool) :islander2: That'd be so kewl. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2006 Governor Posted November 30, 2006 Excellent work Phred! My details keep having "a problem" but it doesn't tell me exactly what the problem is other than to fill out the form again. Are these forms automated or is there someone on the other end approving the data? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 30, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 30, 2006 I send an email to Richie Dulin yesterday to ask him to add a link to our pirate forum on the homepage of the Lugnet pirate newsgroup. And he did *y* *y* *y* We're even at the top of the list! Thanks Richie!!! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 30, 2006 Governor Posted November 30, 2006 Excellent work Bonaparte! Your initiative is beginning to impress me! Did you also send him a thank you Email? Quote

Norro Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 What do you find easier about Lugnet? And have you posted anything in that thread? I like the thread structure, it allows conversations to evolve in an easy to follow way while still being able to discern a 'root' topic. I like cross posting, eg I can post my landscaped castle in .castle, .pirate, .announce.moc, and .loc.ie.. This allows for ideas to spread re building techniques and something that may not be great for one theme can be perfect for another... I also like that all themes are show cased, helps get me out of my ghetto. I did contribute to the thread (here). God Bless, Nathan Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I wonder if LUGnet is really worth it's money?? Quote
Norro Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 I wonder if LUGnet is really worth it's money?? I have never regretted it, it keeps track of my collection and syncs it with so many other resources. I can watch my piece count grow ; ) Not to mention the enjoyment I get out of the site... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 2, 2006 Governor Posted December 2, 2006 Mr Norro, what do you mean by I can watch my piece count grow? Quote
Norro Posted December 2, 2006 Author Posted December 2, 2006 Mr Norro, what do you mean by I can watch my piece count grow? The regular Lugnet set database (eg for set 6066) is expanded when you become a member, you can add comments, and edit how many of a set you own, you can then view a table of exactly how many sets (and pieces) you own with each entry a link to the lugnet set database. Copying and pasting this table into peeron lets you see how many of each individual piece you have... a very impressive service... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 2, 2006 Governor Posted December 2, 2006 It does seem impressive but I can't even register to Brickshelf because my details keep having "problems" although it doesn't specify exactly what they are so I don't know what I'm supposed to do to fix them. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 3, 2006 Governor Posted December 3, 2006 As soon as my Lugnet registration is accepted I'll post this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Greetings I am Mister Phes the administrator of the Pirate LEGO Forum and I'm here to represent a vast number of Pirate LEGO fanatics at the forum. For a "dream" Pirate LEGO set I'd be willing to pay up to US$150 so long as the set was large and well designed. Briefly I shall reveal what I (and many at the Pirate LEGO Forum) would love to see, although some users have ideas which I won't mentioned as they may wish to do so themselves. 1) A large fortress (preferably Imperial Armada) using the the 48 x 32 baseplate. 2) Small ship(s) with brick built hulls like the "Cutter" from 6277 Imperial Trading Post. No need to make all ships use large hull pieces! 3) A non pirate or non military ship(s) and building(s). During the Golden Age of Piracy there were hundreds of colonies and settlements throughout the Caribbean so sets based on that concept would be good. Particularly if they were sets that could be built individually but also placed adjacent one another to form a large village. View Puerto Brico for an example 4) Mini-figure packs/army builders. There are never enough Imperial Armada or Imperial Guards mini-figures! Perhaps something like Imperial Ground Forces would be interesting. 5) A military War Galleon or Frigate. In other words a large ship like 6265 Black Seas Barracuda only for the Imperial Guards or Imperial Armada. What's important is any dream Pirate set would have to retain a similar design style to the original SYSTEM Pirate theme yet it could incorporate newer LEGO elements, just so long as it didn't look too far removed from the original pirate sets (I.e. Knights Kingdom 2 vs Classic Castle). Puerto Brico has established a brilliant equilibrium between old style design while incorporating recent LEGO pieces so something along the lines would be excellent. Pirates in general seem to be more popular than ever amongst children and its a wonder The LEGO Company hasn't taken logical steps to capitalise on this. Obviously the SYSTEM Pirate theme isn't as popular as Classic Castle, but after nearly a decade of absence its no surprise, its not fresh in minds of the LEGO world. However, we at the Pirate LEGO forum are building momentum and will continue to remind the rest of LEGO world how great this theme is! (And how profitable it could be to The LEGO Company should new Pirate sets be released) Quote
Norro Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 If you can't get the email sorted soon, I could post this up for you... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 3, 2006 Governor Posted December 3, 2006 That would be most kind of you Mr Norro! Is there anything I should add to it? Quote
Scouty Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Maybe you should add you're from Eurobricks?? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted December 5, 2006 Governor Posted December 5, 2006 If you can't get the email sorted soon, I could post this up for you... I think I might take you up on that Mr Norro. I've had enough of Lugnets uninformative error Emails. Why not? ( Just curious.) To create mystique of course! Quote
