i've only just noticed the 4 zombie heads in the pillars at the front of the house. thats pretty interesting

I just noticed that the other day... I don't get it. I was examining the house as closely as possible to see if I could built it largely from parts I already have (I think it's quite expensive), and noticed them. I'd just use solid color heads, as I think it's really weird anyway.

So just rotate the faces inward.

People have been demanding more zombies since series 1 came out, so this is pretty cool way to throw in some more to help sell a large set like this

I am SO torn on this. I am really big on the modulars, and this doesn't quite fit. However, it has a lot of charm, but then if I get it and modify it, I am afraid I will lose a lot of its charm. I am SO on the fence with buying this set.

There's no need to modify it, in my eyes, to fit with the Modulars. Sure, it's not going to fit side by side with them, but I plan on putting this with them in my town. The cliche haunted house that all the kids are scared to ride their bikes past. Kids daring other kids to knock on the door.

It's not a complaint, it's just weird... it seems like it would be a run down old house... not one BUILT with people's heads as part of the structure. "Hmm... what could we use to support that structure? I know! A human head!"

I have no problem with them throwing in extra heads! Especially Zombie ones!

Hi

same here. I am just going o buy this set to use it as base for a modular. I think many will buy it because they like the modulars - and without beeing the the monsters theme.

Maybe we all could start some kind of "alternate building contest of the Haunted House": Designing "modular" MOCs just out of the 10228 parts. :)

Although this has little relevance to 10228, the following site has a lot of info for Disney's Haunted Mansions. After spending some time reading about the history of the mansion and differences between the different versions I am looking forward to this set even more!

I'm certain that most here reading about this set will find the site interesting.

So excited for this. I'm a recent AFOL and don't know much about set releases and anticipation; do you think I'll have a problem picking this up at the LEGO store the day of? If I'm looking so forward to this I have to assume that there are many others out there looking to snatch this set ASAP as well.

Never mind--I just called the LEGO store and they said they received enough so that it shouldn't be a problem for me to pick it up on Saturday.

Not that it's a terribly active hunt, but I am currently planning to have four bodies at the ready for when this set comes out, and swap the zombie heads out of the structure [for some other element as yet to be decided upon] and boom, four more zombies for the horde. The extra heads are just sweet gravy for horror nerds who want more nameless undead. They work as decoration, but are easily [and perhaps better used] removed and replaced. Or so I've decided.

I totally agree with the image. I think the cliche house that kids want to mess with / are scared of is the exact reason why this is appealing to me even though it is not a modular. I guess I can keep it separate, but then I feel like I would have to separate another building (ex. town hall) in order to break up my linear street more (it may be odd if that was the only separate building). We'll see. Knowing me, even though I am fighting it right now, I will get it and find a place to fit it. I am a sucker for buildings and big sets.

It's so nice as a freestanding building though. If I have the space on my modular shelf what I will probably do is make a modular walled yard for it. Just extend the gate wall around the sides and back. Probably put it on a 32 x 32 and a16 x 32 baseplate, and just tile the areas the house sits on so it can be easily opened or removed. It will all depend on the depth of the haunted house. It might also make a really nice owner modular if done right.

I am so looking forward to this one. Two more days :cry_happy:

I haven't really been following this topic since I can't afford the house, as much as I would love to get it but,is this an exclusive to any store or will it see wide release at retail? Thanks!

I think it is. Similar to the Modulars. Primarily the Lego stores and the online services.

Well, is 12:06am on 1 Sep, why can't I buy this!!!

not happy. Looks like I shouldn't have bothered staying up.

I guess it will have to wait until morning, hopefully they aren't sold out by then. I've waited this long, what's a few more hours.

At the current AU price, I can't imagine it'll sell out all that quickly. I'm sure you'll get one with no problems.

Though I'm definitely feeling your anticipation over here in the states - this does look like one amazing set.

If you have the different Creator houses, you could kind of put it with them, but off to the side a bit. Like its the last old house left after the newer houses are being built(because everyone in town is scared to demolish it). I can't wait for this tomorrow! :cry_happy: Going to the LEGO store is always fun, especially when to get this beauty! So excited!:grin:

Part of me wants to jump on this thing instantly, but the other, smarter part of me wants to wait until October to see what sort of sweet kickback and bonuses might be had for Bricktober... I mean, even if it's double VIP points, that's worth the wait on a buy this big, I think.

But can I hold off for another month? Agghh. Besides, I can't think of anything else I want, and I wanna snag that cool Zombie Car while I can, so I need something to get me up to 75 bucks.

Its not fair!!!!

Now the S@H site just says 'Coming Soon' - they've removed the date.

you've got to be kidding me.

Any luck in any other parts of the world?

This happened earlier this year with R2-D2, he didn't actually become available till mid morning around 9:00. I think it has something to do with different time zones.

I too was up late waiting for this to become available, and I know what you mean about getting in early. I don't want to order it late, and come Monday they send me an email about it not being available putting it on backorder for another 30 days.

I think that is because you are in a time zone ahead of the store. The item will not actually become available until normal business hours at the actual store location, and the comming soon can't display in hours.

I am in the EST in the States and I just ordered 2 of them... Originally I clicked on "details" and it took me to the page to order it... But now it is available on Lego shop at home's main page...

Free shipping too... :classic:

Well, I knew I would give into the set. I just purchased one online (I should have picked up an extra one for pieces). I got free shipping and the free (useless) set they threw in this month. I am going to enjoy the build the first time, but (hopefully by Holloween) I am definitely going to shape this into a modular that will fit into my street (this is where the 2nd set would probably be handy). We'll see if I can get it to look decent next to the other buildings (I have yet to complete an entire modular MOC).
