@ Aqualize: As Mbmc indicated, the "Power Puller" wheels and tires will fit on those Portal Axle pieces, but the wheels will have a "Negative Offset" (i.e., the inner side of the wheel will be facing outwards):

Hi,

I would like to use these tires in an upcoming MOC.

ZXL1.9_2.jpg

They have the following dimensions:

Outside diameter: 4.25inch(108mm)

Width: 1.41inch(36mm)

Inside diameter: 1.77inch(45mm)

Can anybody help me find a wheel that will fit this tire? I was hoping to use the wheels of 8265 (the 2009 front loader), but I think they will be a bit to small as they only are 43.2 mm.

Any ideas? I'll probably order them anyways, and modify the wheels in some way if they don't fit, but a cleaner solution would be preferred...

@ Nazgarot: Those RC4WD MIL-SPEC ZXL 1.9 Tires can fit on the Lego Technic 44772 "Wheels 56mm D. x 34mm Technic Racing Medium"

(the same wheels that come with the 9398 4x4 Crawler set and many other sets). Since they are 36mm wide, they will be SLIGHTLY narrower than the wheel but the stretchy rubber can accommodate the size difference. I had recommended using tires in the 37mm-48mm width range, but 36mm is "close enough".

Do you guys use the inner foam? I borrowed a friend's brand new 1.9 scale crawler tire (Proline Flat Iron) just to see how the tires hold up against the weight of the heavy Unimog..the tires just sag and 'deflate' under the weight of the truck even with the foams inside. While 'deflated' tires are preferable on scale crawler for better traction, it just doesn't look good for show purposes. Any ideas of how to harden up the foams on these tires to better cope with the weight ? :look:

I use to be in RC hobbying too..on RC buggies we can select different foam stiffness, such as Proline's V3 Closed cell inserts, while we can also 'tune' it to soften it up a bit by making holes in the foam, but I haven't heard someone actually able to stiffen the foam other than buying a stiffer after market inserts. But to my knowledge these crawler tires only comes with very soft regular and memory foams.

Just some tips for you Lego crawler guys, try adding wheel weights inside the rims for better much improved traction and lowered COG . you can try double taping leadweights (actual car wheel balancing lead weights). 80 grams on each tires should see some traction improvements, at the expense of a much heavier steering.

Yes, I used all of the standard foam inserts on all of the tires I posted on this Eurobricks topic. All of them could handle the weight of the 9398 4x4 Crawler.

I ordered so called G-HAWG tyres to fit the 22969 wheels, they were sent today, so hopefully the will arrive saturday and I can see how the look on the 9398, so it looks even more like a monster-truck.

you know that the lego tires are often too wide for their diameter or the pattern is only street legal and nothing for real offroad driving.

now i have found some RC crawler tires which fits nearly perfect to the 8110 unimog rims.

the tires came from the german manufacturer ansmann and have the number 211000224

the diameter is 108mm and the width is 40mm

or 4,25"x1,45"- 1,9"

they are ballon tires with a very soft rubber compound and with a foam inside

here some pics

if you know some other compatible third part tires, please tell it us.

What do you think about this tires?

@ rm8: Since this webpage says that the Tamiya Hilux 1.9 Tires (pictured below) are 38mm wide, recommend getting them since they will fit the Lego 44772 wheel. Throughout this topic, the recommended width range of 1.9 RC Tires is 37mm-48mm.

Sorry to revive this topic but I've just built my 9398 yesterday and am already hating the tires

So I thought let's look through the extensive Eurobricks history and lo and behold I find this topic here

I've just bought 2 pair of the Ansmann 211000224 tires that started this topic with efferman. I see that the company that makes them has been sold to another company and at the moment, if your preferred (online) shop does not have them in stock, you'll have to wait for them until the new company starts sending them out again.

Just as an FYI for people that'd still like to buy them: I've ordered them from the UK @ 31€ for 2 pairs, where as in Euro-mainland the best I could do was 26€ for 1 pair ... (prices exclude shipping)

@ Strikeman: In Europe, there must be some other RC-type tire (besides the Ansmann brand) that will fit the standard Lego 44772 wheels that came with the 9398 4x4 Crawler. In this topic, we found that any 1.9" (48mm) Inside Diameter (I.D.) RC tire in the widths 37-48mm will work. You could go to your local RC store, or look online for some brands. I don't know if RC4WD offroad tires are available in Europe -- they have a good selection!

DLuders, the problem is that the nearest "local RC store" is about 50 kilometers away from me. With current gasoline prices (currently around 1.7€/liter, which translates to roughly 8.5$/gallon) and a car that drinks 14 liters per 100 kilometers, the price for going there (and the time spent doing so) is much higher than the price of shipping from almost anywhere in the EU.

Add to that the fact that almost any webshop will be cheaper than a local brick&mortar shop and you can understand why I chose to order my tires online (shipping was 5€, and driving 100 kilometers would cost me 23,8€, not counting the time spent in the car & shop).

Even getting the "local" RC store to send me the tires is going to cost me more than ordering from a large webshop as the good people at bpost (Belgium postal services) have ridiculous tarifs (it'd cost 6,4€ to send the same tires inside Belgium ...)

Yeah, it's great living here ... at least we have good social security :sadnew: !

hi strikeman, would you mind posting the name of the shop where you bought these tires? thanks

Hey francisalmario, of course: the shop is called Time Tunnel Models, and the tires can be found here.

When checking out, select WORLDWIDE SPARE SHIPPING (3,95£) to get the cheapest shipping option (the tires are listed under spares so this shipping method is valid).

I have no idea yet as I've ordered them a few hours ago; they still have to arrive

But I was hoping they'd come off with a little prying ...

Maybe efferman can tell us: did you get them with the rims or without the rims ? And if they were with rims, how did you get them off ?

I did not find a version without rims in my online search.

you'll need an Allen-key (hex key) size 1.5mm to unscrew wheel-center (6 screws per side) in order to dismantle the tires with internal grey foam. Just caution these tires can stain easily when new. Edited by Gene

I was afraid this might happen, I just got this email :cry_sad: (from Time Tunnel Models):

We are very sorry, but this item was listed in error - it has been discontinued and we have no stock available.

A full refund has been sent back to your Paypal account.

At least they are very correct and very fast about it; it looks like I'll check out those tires Gene just mentioned
