Hey Stikeman, I got mine from here: http://www.modelspor...tring=211000224

Thanks Gene, I checked those out as well but Modelsport UK has them on backorder; as I mentioned earlier, Ansmann has been bought by another company and it will take some time for them to start shipping again (if they will even ship these again, ever).

I THOUGHT that the other guys would have them in stock (as it mentioned on their website) but apparantly they were wrong :)

I'll go looking around for another supplier (and probably another make).

@ Strikeman: I just did a search for the words "1.9 scale tires" on the German eBay website and came up with these two pages of results. You should be able to find some tires in the 37mm-48mm widths. :classic: Use Google Translate to translate the German into French or English.

Thanks for the info DLuders; Yesterday I have ordered 4x Absima crawler tires with number 2500030. They were a bit pricier but with free shipping the total was 42€. They seem to have the correct dimensions with 48mm inside diameter and 37mm width. Their height is 108mm.

I just got notice that they have been shipped and as soon as they arrive I will install them and take pictures.

@ Boxerlego: The closest Tractor-type tire that I could find that would fit on a standard Lego 44772 wheel is the RC4WD Prowler XS Scale 1.9 Tire. It's a LITTLE BIT NARROW at 36mm (which does not fall within the recommended 37mm-48mm width range for 1.9" (48mm) Inside Diameter (I.D.) tires, but it will fit:

Specification:

Outer Diameter: 3.76" (95.5mm)

Width: 1.41" (36.0mm)

Inner Diameter: 1.9" (48mm)

Each tire weight: 2 oz / 56 g

tryre.jpg44772.jpg

The RC4WD Flashpoint 1.9 Military Offroad Tire is close to having the "tractor tire" look:

Specification:

  • Outer Diameter: 4.13" (104mm)
  • Width: 1.52" (38.7mm)
  • Inner Diameter: 1.9" (48mm)
  • Advanced X3 Soft & Sticky Compound
  • Reinforced sidewall
  • Each tire weight: 2.6 oz / 73 g

I have received :classic: , baked :look: and installed :sweet: my new tires on the 9398 LEGO Crawler !

The tires are "Absima 1:10 complete wheel + Crawler-rim black offroad V-block profile" (number 2500030)

3 of the 4 tires were factory glued to the rims, so I had to remove the rims somehow :sceptic:.

After reading some things on RC forums, I decided to use the "baking" method of removing them.

Baking the tires makes the glue that's used brittle; if done correctly, it will be pretty easy to remove the tires from the rims.

I preheated the oven to 175° Celcius (350° Fahrenheit) and put the tires+rims in for 6 minutes on a cookie sheet. After 6 minutes, I turned them over and left them in for another 6 minutes.

WARNING: if you want to do this, make sure to have sufficient ventilation in the house (open some doors) because the plastic rims will start smoking and smell bad !!!

After removing the tires from the oven, I let them cool as the plastic rim are soft.

After a few minutes and after checking the plastic rim wasn't soft anymore, I applied pressure on the side of the tires close to the connection with the rim.

I heard the glue crack while applying the pressure and the tires came right of the rims. The rims were completely deformed, but I don't have any need for those anyway .

You SHOULD be able to save the rims by using a lower temperature and a longer cooking time (2x 7.5 minutes @ 160° Celcius / 300° Fahrenheit; your mileage may vary).

The foam inside the Absima tires was unaffected by the baking process. The tires themselves seem to be unaffected as well  .

Even with the differentials on the 9398 LEGO Crawler it is now able to climb obstacles which were previously unattainable :wub::thumbup:.

side view; note that the thread is, as far as I can see it, the exact same as the tires that Ansmann makes.

From left to right: the original Absima rims in different states.

1: original rim, non baked (wasn't glued to the tire). 2: rim baked twice (because my first try I didn't put them in long enough and I started pushing the rim around while still soft). 3&4: baked rims as described above.

As you can see, the baked rims are non reusable in any way

@ rm8: I'm not sure that those 25.5mm Inside Diameter Losi Micro Tires on the RC4WD website will look normal when compressed onto the Lego ~30mm wheels. The sidewalls could be bulging outwards and look funny. However, I just ordered a set of four Rok Lox Micro Comp Tires to see how they fit on the 56145 "Wheels 30.4mm D. x 20mm with No Pin Holes and Reinforced Rim". If they don't work, I'll give them away to a local RC shop to resell to somebody. :classic: I'll post pictures of them (mounted on the 1H2013 42010 Off Road Racer set) in a few days when they come in the mail.

Thank you, iam looking for small tires about 60-70 mm outside diameter. The closest now is rc4wd Baja MTZ scale 1.55. You already posted it with sariel's red jeep. But they are more than 80 mm..

Yes, those tires were on larger Lego Technic wheels however. I wrote that "I received a set of four Mickey Thompson 1.55 Baja MTZ Scale Tires ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Mickey-Thompson-155-Baja-MTZ-Scale-Tires_p_1433.html ), and mounted them on Sariel's Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (which uses the Lego 41896 "Wheel 43.2mm D. x 26mm Technic Racing Small, 3 Pinholes"). The appearance is thinner than the Lego balloon tires, but is perhaps a more realistic "scale" tire like one would find in the real world":

Nice comparison of tires. I wonder how Rock Crusher X/T 1.9 Tires - Xtreme Terrain (http://store.rc4wd.c...ires_p_691.html) would behave on the 9398 Rock Crawler or any other trial truck, crawler. These are the tires that make me interested in third party tires the most but I still haven't seen them on any Lego Technic MOC Crawler and I think they might suit Lego Technic Trial Trucks much better than the more famous here Ansmann's tires (in terms of an appearance, width, tread and probably crawling abilities).

I think this is the same tire as Ansmann and Absima. Very similar tread pattern:)

TechnicMati, I don't know how much those actually differ from the Ansmann's and the Absima's that I just used; to me, the thread looks the same on all 3. I do see, via the link you shared, that the tires you mentioned are 1.53" wide instead of the Ansmann/Absima 1.45", but aside from that ... to me they seem to be an OEM product that is re-branded for the customer (Ansmann, Absima, Rock Crusher).

but, please judge for yourself:

Absima - Ansmann - Rock Crusher (These are pictures that came from Google searches, I do not know if the Rock Crusher is the correct one)

right, the picture I have up there is apparantly the Rock Crusher II, those are 1.72 inches wide.

The Rock Crusher I is 1.53 inches wide, but honestly when you look at the threads it looks to me as if it are the exact same tires, just like you noted as well.

I am sure that either of the Rock Crusher X/T types will work fine on the Lego 44772 wheels, since they both are between the recommended 37mm-48mm widths. TechnicMati, why don't you order a set? You'll like them! :classic:

The RC4WD Flashpoint 1.9 Military Offroad Tire is close to having the "tractor tire" look:

Specification:

  • Outer Diameter: 4.13" (104mm)
  • Width: 1.52" (38.7mm)
  • Inner Diameter: 1.9" (48mm)
  • Advanced X3 Soft & Sticky Compound
  • Reinforced sidewall
  • Each tire weight: 2.6 oz / 73 g

FPoint1.9.jpg

The military tire looks good. They are similar to the tractor tire. The reinforced side wall sounds sturdy, I wonder how much weight it can handle. Would there be any hope for The largest RC Tire on earth!

The Demolisher

Specification:

  • Outer Diameter: 9.6" (244mm)
  • Width: 5.37" (136.6mm)
  • Inner Diameter: 3.8" (96.52mm)
  • Reinforced sidewall support
  • X5 sticky compound
  • Weight: 974g/34.4oz (each tire with foam)

I suppose you could get RC wheels to insert inside The Demolisher tires, and glue on one of these 2x2 round plates in the middle so that a Lego Technic Axle could be used:

I received the four Rok Lox Micro Comp Tires to see how they fit well on the 56145 "Wheels 30.4mm D. x 20mm with No Pin Holes and Reinforced Rim". They look nice on the 1H2013 42010 Off Road Racer set. The rubber is quite pliable, and the tire's profile looks much more realistic than the low-profile Lego balloon tires that came with the set. In a real buggy, the wheels would be bent on the first big hole they encountered; that's why real offroad tires have a high profile to better absorb the bumps. Another benefit is that, with the 42010's pullback motor, the Off Road Racer can travel farther and faster with the larger-diameter tires:

I have been thinking about after market tires on the super street sensation wheels. I only say this becasue of the positive offset in these wheels. Has any body done this before or researched which tires would fit if any? The idea is to create more room for reduction hubs and get better steering. I do not see these wheels on many Mocs and it would be nice to see off road tires mounted on them. Are they even any good for this endevour?
