Posted June 14, 201212 yr hi, since i'm a non-native english speaker please bare with me! after 'lurking' for quite a few days now, i decided to register and of course to introduce myself. i'm a 41 years old guy from germany who played with lego a long time ago (all the good stuff is still in the attic). from those days i have some bricks, a few space classic sets, a train and lots of tracks and i remember very well when i got one of the first lego technik-sets available as a birthday present (my dad still has some of his lego bricks from the fifties(?)). i forgot all about lego (except the xbox games) when i just recently saw some news about lord of the ring sets. what can i say, it lured me onto the dark side, i started reading everything, i orderd the sets on amazon germany and i'm waiting for them to be shipped by 23rd of june. in addition to that i'm very intrigued by the modular building sets and i just remembered, there must be some of the "street"-plates in the attic as well. so for know, i will be sticking to the sets and start building according to the description, but i can already feel the need for doing some changes. and now i'm off to the attic looking for some of the old spaceman-minifigs :-) best regards, kenzaburo

I'f build one of the new LOTR sets and seen almost all of the others - you won't regret ordering them so soon. Have fun around the boards and whenever you have questions you can send me a PM.
June 15, 201212 yr Welcome Kenzaburo! Your story sound way to familiar, although in my case it was the modular who dragged me back in. After a few months here I find this community to be a good one and a lot of inspiration to be found.
June 15, 201212 yr Author thanx a lot for your warm welcome! i just spent hours on the floor building the pet shop of the modular series. oh boy, all the fond memories of past time came back, but oh my did the parts change: bricks which go sideway? uneven numbers? more than 5 colors? my wife keppt laughing watching me staring at some odd pieces trying to figure out what one could do with them in free-build... June 16, 201212 yr bricks which go sideway? Yes! It's called SNOT-technique (studs not on top). You'll soon figure out that this improves building a lot! Go here and click on "download document" to receive the "LEGO advanced building techniques". uneven numbers? Yes! We recently got 1x3 tiles! more than 5 colors? YEEEESS! You might want to check this. I foresee you spending a lot of money on ABS the upcoming months.
