I saw those nice hawseholes over there so will you connect the capstan to the anchors? I'm fascinated with the way you worked her all over, the small details you added, she is beautiful! The only detail you could add as far as I can see is the waterholes, I think one or two would look nice

You would feel safe being captain of that ship, having Cannons in your cabin . I really like the cargo hatch on that ship, nice attention to detail; and those sails look very realistic. Good work.

Thanks for the new picutures! Are these pumps? Or what are they supose to be :) Nice design if they are pumps, but I'm quite not sure about that.

I like the way you attached the spanker to the mizzen mast. I guess it's more stable that way - I`m still using two 1x2 technic bricks for that --> I guess I will change that with my next ship.

Superb! I must admit I have a very soft spot for the Furieuse.

You seem to have a real knack for the smaller ships (smaller 4 I mean). The other two are lovely as well, but there is something very lively about the littler ones. They create that wonderful sense of Lego-ness while still being historically accurate and detailed. I think when you get that effect you're onto something.

Sails look lovely too. Great work!

Love these ships! What I really like is the use of black hulls, a lot more accurate and they look a lot nicer on LEGO ships.

Well, after I've been largely inactive for half a year or so, I've started finishing my fleet last week and before I post pictures of the current progress, I found it more appropriate to post those from July 2011 that I haven't posted yet.

Let's start with "Concorde". She's a 32 gun frigate on 6 midsections, which is the same as Achille. Unlike Achille however I've been using the lower parts of the new prefabs and my beloved NextGen technique that in my opinion allows for much more accurate shapes. Another difference is the modularity; I chose to make only the sides modular so that the rigging doesn't need to be compromised.

In my personal opinion she's the most beautiful ship I'v build so far, but judge for yourself!

The way I did it on the Vesta works too, but I think this is more smoothly.

Which do you consider the best? Removing the sides or removing the decks?

The pumps are also superb. But why does the door to the captain's cabin have such a strange shape with slopes?

Is it to give more strength when you attach the sides?

And how are things going with your 74 gun ship?

Finally, it's good to see a croissant on the table. A must for every commander!

Oh my Perfectionist! This is no doubt the most beautiful ship in your fleet. There are so many points of interest but my eye immediately goes to the stern. The stern is so tremendously beautiful and so very French. You've really nailed it here. The removable sides are an interesting change. I know you stated it for rigging purposes though I'm sure it must make the entire structure much more sound.

I think they combine with the slopes on the side to make a perfectly closed cabin .

Thanks! I used one of the new style hinges - it's hidden in the table.

Many thanks! I'd really love to come to an Eurobricks event at some point, but I'm afraid this year it won't work out. When there's another possibility to put some ships on display however I might do that.

Thanks! Well, the older two frigates now have both: a removable deck and sides. Personally I consider removable sides superior in all aspects; they are easier to implement, quicker to remove and allow for better playability. It's also possible to leave one side open and one side closed when on display. The only reason I made the removable deck back then is because I couldn't make the sides modular with the old style hinges.

The Superbe has been broken up. Also I've sold a lot of Lego already, so I don't really have bricks for anything big anymore. I'm still looking for ways to get rid of many of the specialised parts I've bought for her though. I must admit that building ships at minifigure scale with such high ambitions is very risky, expensive and time-consuming. I figured that since I won't have the necessary ressources in the near future, it would be best to terminate the project.

Now I see this image again, there's something which you might want to improve.

I like it that you've added studding sails, and they look great, but perhaps they could be attached slightly different.

If you look at this image, and this one, you'll see that all the studding sails are attached to a yard which is a bit lower than the big yard to which it is attached. Also, the main and topsail studding sails are attached to two smaller yards if you look real closely but I'd understand if you don't do that.

Anyway, it's just a very small detail and of course you're free to do whatever you want, but concerning your user name you might like to know this for future builds. Good luck!
