June 17, 201212 yr Another great review. And all of the figs can be used with non-fleshie parts without any problems! Yay! I'll have to get 1-2 of this one along with Helm's Deep and possibly Weathertop. So does it connect with Helms Deep? And can you add further ones of this set to extend the Deeping Wall? Try reading the review.
June 17, 201212 yr Thanks for the review; what I especially love about this set is that instead of big castle wall pieces, they used single bricks instead. And they also come in sand green and ''brick''!
June 17, 201212 yr Author Thank you so much guys! It is extremely great to know that many of you had enjoyed the same level of fun through this wonderful set and like myself and some of you, this is the very first LOTR purchase. I really enjoyed this and aiming to get a few more of these as much as possible. just from looking at the pictures on the net, i would assume 3 of these sets to extend helm's deep to get the right proportions (from a widht point of view, never mind hight). i would put one piece of wall exactly like this between the door section and the part where the bomb will explode and then i would add 2 more sets to the left of helm's deep, but slightly modified so that the wall is smoth and does not has this "round" extensions ( i hope you can make sense out of my words). $48 here in Oz on sale so will only be buying 2 from the local stores the rest of Bricklink. From memory the stream coming out of the Deepling Wall was around 3/4 of the way along so I think 5 sections would be needed to add to the Helm's Deep set which I also hope to pick up in a few weeks. Been saving feverishly for these sets. Can't wait. Good suggestions! I will be trying my own version as well. Will love to construct a much longer extended fortress of Helm's Deep. It makes me like this set even more, but the RRP for Italy (and most of European countries, I think) is 40 Euros, and that's a lot, even for a licensed set. Geez, that means the price over in Singapore might also near to double after conversion. This is very expensive for me.. By the way, the "armoured hook shooter" is a Ballista. Noted of the right term. Just wanted to use this term since TLG used it in their description. what I especially love about this set is that instead of big castle wall pieces, they used single bricks instead. And they also come in sand green and ''brick''! Simple and basic! Love the assortment of building bricks.
June 17, 201212 yr My only complaint with the set is that it comes with Eomer. It's a bit weird to have a named character for a set that you may buy multiple times to build up an army (and the walls of Helm's Deep!).
June 17, 201212 yr Exellent review, WhiteFang! But there are no 2 rohans in this set, there are 1 rohan and Theoden. And it is very bad... Minifigs are great, horse is cool. I have this one, but from 9469 (Gandalf Arrives). Edited June 17, 201212 yr by Stenly
June 17, 201212 yr My only complaint with the set is that it comes with Eomer. It's a bit weird to have a named character for a set that you may buy multiple times to build up an army (and the walls of Helm's Deep!). Don't worry too much about that. Between all the double sided heads, we have 4 different faces, one of them is Éomer and the others can go to regular soldiers.
June 17, 201212 yr Exceptional review, 'WhiteFang'! I'm planning on picking this set up in the Helm's Deep collection. Since that's a lot of money, I gotta save my money up!
June 17, 201212 yr Fantastic review, WhiteFang. This set is really good actually. I love the amount of minifigs. I gave it an "outstanding" score. My only issue would be the price, but for six minifigs I don't think I should complain too much.
June 18, 201212 yr A very detail review. Thanks for the effort. I like the photo where you showed both Uru-Kai army and the fantasy era's Orcs. I have been wondering whether they are match (coz they are in different colour). Seeing your photo convinced me that they are pretty match.
June 18, 201212 yr But there are no 2 rohans in this set, there are 1 rohan and Theoden. And it is very bad... Theoden? Eh no.
June 18, 201212 yr My only complaint with the set is that it comes with Eomer. It's a bit weird to have a named character for a set that you may buy multiple times to build up an army (and the walls of Helm's Deep!). The Battle of Helms Deep had about a dozen Royal guards that had come with the King so you can use them that way. I am hoping there will be a Rohan battlepack with some extra warriors although it would be easy enough to mix and match some extra troops from various other cheaper sources.
June 18, 201212 yr Great review. Fantastic images. I have not been blown aways by the LOTR sets yet, but they are growing on me. Nice selection of minifigs in this one.
June 18, 201212 yr I love these detailed rewievs with lot of pictures, perticularely for sets that I do not have, and I will not have in near future (or ever:) good job, White
June 19, 201212 yr Great review ! This set is very welcome : I'm usually upset by the lack of minifigures inside boxes, especially in Licenced themes. With n°9471 Uruk-Hai Army you have a lot of very detailed minifigures (it is such a great idea to complete Helm's Deep with a separate set). Good job !
June 19, 201212 yr Great review. I didn't realize how many minifigures there was in it. Have to buy a couple more.
June 20, 201212 yr Thanks for the reivew! I'd love to buy multiples of this set once they hit German shelves, but according to the LEGO web shop, they're going to cost 39,99€, which is a bit too pricey IMO for army building.
June 22, 201212 yr Nice set and nice review... Just one thing: is this supposed to be on sale in Italy for september? Because I can't find anything on the Lego site.
June 30, 201212 yr Great review and awesome pictures! To the OP or anyone else, were there a lot of bricks in the set that had dented corners, scratched surfaces, or any other quality issues? I noticed I had quite a bit of them in my set. Was just curious if I just had a bad batch or they're inferior parts produced from one of the countries....
