Governor Mister Phes Posted November 23, 2006 Governor Posted November 23, 2006 Yes, we all agree with yer! But you'll have to keep these discussion leaning towards Pirates otherwise it'll probably have to be moved to another forum. Quote
ukdevilz Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 I'll keep it all pirate hehe. I didn't think the 1997 era of the 'spainish armada' was very good, only beacuse they didn't expand on it and only ONE ship was produced with a small port and tiny fortification thingy. - well thats what I remember anyways. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 23, 2006 Governor Posted November 23, 2006 Is this the "small port and tiny fortification thingy" yer refer to? That be called Armada Sentry... Tiz a pitty The LEGO Company failed to produce a large Spanish fort using that 48 x 32 baseplate... Which reminds me I won another one of those off eBay the other day. Quote
ukdevilz Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 haha i OWN that set! U see what i mean? yes :) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 23, 2006 Governor Posted November 23, 2006 Well laddie, if you go into the Main Pirate Forum and look at the pinned threads at the top you'll see one called "The Pirate Directory". Take a look in that and you'll discover a couple of online LEGO databases with names and pictures of all the Pirate sets (and all the LEGO sets from other themes for that matter). Quote
ukdevilz Posted November 23, 2006 Author Posted November 23, 2006 thanks i had a look, detailed with infor and quite interesting! However would Lego ever re introduce the pirate theme? Or has anyone heard that they mentioned in doing so? We could do a petition and all as a forum come up with a new concept and pirate theme and make a petition? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 23, 2006 Governor Posted November 23, 2006 Would the LEGO Company ever introduce the pirate theme? Its not looking very likely. Over the past two years they've given us the 4+ Pirate theme and this year a Duplo Pirate theme but it seems they're intent of avoiding a new SYSTEM Pirate theme. In the past there have been numerous surveys (acting as petitions with feedback) which have been passed on to The LEGO Company, however it hasn't made any difference. There even are numerous imitation brands of Pirate LEGO (made from inferior materials) which may be an indication there is still a market for Pirate LEGO. What we need to accept that there are not enough younger Pirate LEGO enthusiasts for The LEGO Company to "bring back" the Pirate theme. But that's not because there is anything wrong with Pirate LEGO, its just through lack of awareness. What we need to do is continue to expand this community and get some more weight behind us, and most importantly we need to attract new fans to the theme not just the old ones. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 23, 2006 Governor Posted November 23, 2006 So in the future I shall be taking measures to ensure this happens. Quote
Norro Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 Good to see a grand imperial mission statement! God Bless, Nathan Quote
Captain Roger Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I agree about early 90s was the best era...specually with Pirates theme Quote
Scouty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Blasphemy!...oh, wait, I have to agree with this. 90's was a good era. But, alas, it's not the ninteys. Soon enough, the lego bricks will be holographic and we build with our minds. X-D . Quote
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 It was my opinion that Lego System was essentially lost around 2001. Bionicle remained the last holdout until 2005 - Now it is utterly ruined as well. So yes, I agree with you. Quote
Scouty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 But Eurobrickers and every AFOL and KFOL out there, we shant give up on Lego. We must keep up hope. We must not give it up. Don't say it's all terrible, there are still good lines out there! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 24, 2006 Governor Posted November 24, 2006 Yes, perhaps there are good LEGO themes for some at present (not that I can think what they are) but there's no Pirates. "LEGO These days isn't 'All That'" is an understatement when referring to the 4+ Pirate theme. Quote
Captain Roger Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Lego system was awful in 1998 without pirates...we lost the best theme... and the other classic themes (space, castle, etc) became to be worse. and the new thems (X-treme, Res-Q,etc) were terrible. And about SW,HP etc...they aren't as good as the classic themes Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 24, 2006 Governor Posted November 24, 2006 Yes, things began to change drastically within the sets from 1996 onwards. The pieces got bigger but there were less of them in sets and therefore the designs got shonkier, just look at Fright Knights. However, post 1997 I think Adventurers/Orient Expedition and Ninja weren't too bad but the rest hasn't been much. The pirate sets from 1996 and 1997 don't seem as horrible as say Fright Knights, but sets like 6292 Shipwrecked could have done with a few more pieces to flesh out their design. The Armada Flagship suffers from this "piece conservatism" as well. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 2, 2006 Governor Posted December 2, 2006 For anyone who was following this thread I must inform we went off topic so I split those posts and put them in a thread called The future direction of the Pirate LEGO Forum. Quote
Scouty Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I thought there was something different... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 5, 2006 Governor Posted December 5, 2006 And if you agree LEGO these days isn't "All That" then you probably should visit the Request Pirate Lego - what future sets would you like? and do something about it! Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 *sweet* *y* agrrr, I agree matey, I mean they should bring back the old school sets at shop@home, like pirates, castle, and ninja, does any one agree.... and possibly make new improved pirate ships...maybe! :-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 20, 2006 Governor Posted December 20, 2006 I think most of agree that LEGO should re-release more Pirate sets if they're not going to release new ones. Quote
Scouty Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 We have a 1:1,000,000 shot of having re-releases. It would be re-re-release for the pirate ships. The first time lego ever realesed a Lego set three times. There is a better shot at a new line however. Quote
