January 29, 201312 yr I would definately do that, rather than pay a ridiculous 45$ a wheel. I wouldn't even mind paying the €150 I see the cheaper ones go for! I'll try to pursue one at some time. I don't really care for the model in question that much, but as a parts pack, with those wheels... it's worth it.
February 12, 201312 yr Iv most of the parts got for this build, still waiting on some, got a small start on it tonight and the instructions are very well done. Hopefully ill have the rest of my parts this week :) @blakbird if ur looking, have u built this yet or did u only build jurgens excavator? Can't wait to get stuck in :) it's a very well designed model and very complex. Cost wise iv spent €228 euro on parts :) parts i had we're a spare 8043/8878 battery and PP wheels. I also had 1 extra XL motor and 1 extra M motor, all other PF parts were bought from lego shop, Other normal parts then from bricklink. Edited February 12, 201312 yr by davidmull

Iv started building it,I'm at step 44 i think now, it's a lot of parts it's hard to try get everything together :) Have u spent much on parts? I had the rear wheels already but still had to buy a lot €€€ of parts!
February 23, 201312 yr @davidmull i just bought the 2 complete rear wheel assembly for AU$80 shipped from UK. My next buy would be the 7 M motors, 9 actuators and 4 IR receivers. Those will cost me approx over AU$200. im just happy that i already secure the complete rear wheels assembly. i will try buy all the parts in a couple of week, but i just need to buy the expensive bits, like the motor, ir, actuators, wheels......first, then i will start buying the cheap bits. I already had a spare 8043, rear wheels and 8878 so I had to buy the rest, I spent €228 on parts and €100 of that was PF parts off lego. The rest was bought on bricklink. I now have everything and all I'm waiting on is the rear bucket! And some old 9v beacons so that's an other €20 :) The most expensive parts from bricklink were the new la,s. I could have broke up my ultimate 8043 but I wanted to leave it built :)

February 28, 201311 yr Finally after getting a lot of parts together iv the beast built :) Jurgens fully power function backhoe! Amazing model and build experience and it really is very big, I'm amazed how complex this model is and how well all the functions work. The backhoe even works very well with the m-motors and the 8878 has no problems powering all the functions. The only change I made was i added a beacon bar which i integrated properly into the roof and it looks very well, it's the old 9v twin beacon with clear yellow bricks to give it the beacon bar look. I also tucked away all the wiring properly too as I like to have things tidy :) It's the nicest model iv ever seen and I have most of the flagships from over the years. For anyone that has not built this please do and u will see for yourself. I would give it an easy 10/10 :) This guy (jurgen is a genious and my favorite mocs are all his. Here's a few photos. February 28, 201311 yr It's great to see Jurgen's backhoe getting some good reviews! He has done a fantastic job with it.
March 1, 201311 yr Mine is very battery hungry...... The speed controller is rubbish, so I would replace this with another bang bang one.
March 1, 201311 yr Mine is very battery hungry...... The speed controller is rubbish, so I would replace this with another bang bang one. My speed controller works just fine,:) also I'm using 8878 so can just recharge. I'm in love with this set :) ha

March 8, 201410 yr In a few days I should recieve the remaining parts I need to start building this incredible MOC. Had to purchase the Power Puller tires off a Bricklink shop in Europe as I could not find them in North America. Dam, those things were expensive but worth it.
March 8, 201410 yr It's an expensive set to build but well worth it. Mine is still built and on display :)
