Jipay Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 I hate this type of stuff... They could just give something to every good movie instead of giving away 15 stuff to aviator (which is likely to happen) Quote
DoubleT Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 Well this year is a year without an LOTR movie... and I have noticed that there alot of films this year.... Small ones also.. And Miss Portman is now an Academy Award Nominee ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 This reminds me how much this year sucked. I just want Snicket to win stuff. Quote
MisterMattias Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I'm happy to see that Ray (a good film about the blind singer Ray Charles, who died last year) is nominated, because then more people will get to know about it. I spent 30 hours on it last week, and my neck still hurts. My mission was to do the Swedish subtitles on the Director's Commentary of the Director's Cut version. Three hours is a bit too much, and the director wouldn't stop talking about it. A lot of talking means a lot of subtitles, and I'm paid per subtitle, so I should be happy, but it was a pain to translate it into Swedish and I really hope people will go and rent or buy it when it shows up on DVD. Otherwise it'll feel as if I've done all that work just for myself, and that's not quite worth it. So, go and rent it, and choose the Swedish language track even though you might understand Swedish :) Quote

MisterMattias Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 You do subtitle work? That must me very rewarding when you see your work on the screen. :oo Well, it's rewarding when I'm satisfied with my work, and it's a film that it's likely that people will see. Some times I get to do the subtitles for Miami Vice, McGuyver or Knight Rider.....who on earth would want to buy such things on DVD? Okay, nostalgia from the 80's, but still. The market can't be that big. When I do such things it's almost embarrassing to have my name on it. But then again, not many people will ever know that I was the translator, since noone watches it :) Quote
Orlego Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I don't know how many Swedish people will be watching the DVDs here in the US but those DVDs are very popular here. I do know what you mean. It is much more rewarding to know that a higher percent of people have the opportunity to see your work. *satis* Quote
