"So obviously somone in your family knew about the Proggs, or else the Holy Bomb would not have been planted."

snbk2.png

"That'd appear be the logical conclusion, yes."

"But finding my savior - if he or she is still among the living - is a secondary objective. Is there any more questions before we embark to the vault?"

"I thought that your entire family was dead.

I can think of no more questions."

"They are. But a person's work doesn't die with them. Assuming that the conclusion you're coming to is correct, then the saving bomb would still be there after the person's passing.

But enough on that matter."

As she finishes to that sentence, the chariot slows and stops in front of a large ornate building crafted from green marble and sturdy oak. It's imposing frame dwarfed the chariot. The structure was none other then the Bank of Commerz.

All of the passengers step out of their ritzy ride and towards the huge bank. Ayla stops to look into the large fountain near the bank's entrance. Little stone figures dot the fountains' perimeter, as if guarding it.

"For some odd reason, people have been using this fountain as a wishing well. Believe it or not, most of your reward is coming from the fountain."

"The Bank of Commerz, and she's leading us inside. Let's loot it." :wub_drool: I whisper quietly enough so that she can't hear.

"This fountain as a wishing well? How archaic is that!" I snort. "What? Most of our reward is coming from this wishing well? In other words, we can't be sure if we will actually get it or not. How spooky is that. I sincerely hope that we have something to lean on and that in case this doesn't work out you will provide us with some sort of collateral."

I then turn to my party.

"Hey! What's with the snubbing! :damn: I said I wanted your names, ages, knowledge of the contents of your purse, etc. Out with it.

"Yeah, I'm all set to get going to the vault...once I have these questions answered."

Sorry, I wasn't around when all this was going on. I wasn't able to get online yesterday evening, I had a game to watch, and besides, someone else was using the connection until 1:00 or so. Just to let you know, in case you don't, the Nimbus Broomstick is a ranged weapon. And yes, Dazus got it right regarding the shield and helmet. They add +1 each to my HP. :classic:

"Thanks, Mizuki!"

"I think she has already taken the money for the reward from the well."

"I'm sorry, I must not have heard - my name is Erik, and I'm 18. What about you? As to the money, I spent it all preparing for this quest. Why do you want to know how much money I have?"

"I'm sorry, I must not have heard - my name is Erik, and I'm 18. What about you? As to the money, I spent it all preparing for this quest. Why do you want to know how much money I have?"

I thank Mizuki for the cookies, but am sure to remind her that I would have preferred if they were made of gold and not chocolate chips.

"Not, a problem. You seem like a decent chap...for a barbarian, although I can't say your face looks very friendly. As to the money, I would like to know so that I can know the most effective way of spending it...for you, of course.

My name is Monk Pretzel, but feel free to just call me, 'sir.'

"Alright, I have two fire bombs and I don't know if it's much point in me hold both of them. I also have a Phoenix Essence, which is again not much point for me to carry, as I am probably the only one worth reviving."

Posted

Erik is somewhat taken aback by Mr Pretzel, but having seen his fanaticism against Sorrow, he decides always suck up to the party leader lots of compliments is probably the way to go.

"Ah, you are too kind, Sir. I only wish now that I had saved some money, as I am sure you could get me some good deals on things.

If only I had known I would have such a money-wise leader on this quest."

Posted

I am utterly dumb-founded by Erik's respect and humility. "Yo, Erik, yo' dissin' me?" "That's a goodly lad. Salvation does not seem far off for you, to be sure. I would have advised you to invest in Fire Bombs or something of the like, as I would imagine we will have large teams of rodents attacking us, but perhaps we will still have a chance to do so. Well, I guess two will have to do for now."

Ayla is dumbfounded by the cookie handout, but accepts one happily.

"I didn't know we had a bakery on this island!"

"Either way, let's go to the chariot and mount up again."

The four heroes go outside following the woman back to the chariot. They all board, gooey chocolate snacks in hand.

snbk2.png

"It's going to be about an hour until we reach the vault. Please don't get chocolate on the seats."

One hour later, with miraculously unblemished seats, the chariot drives off the road next to some groves. before getting off, Ayla makes sure nobody is watching. She leads the heroes through the eerily quiet forest and to a tall rock ridge. In the center of a ridge, a large wooden door stands.

snbk2.png

Ayla goes to key in the heinously long combination, finishing after 3 minutes. With an ominous creak the door swings open, slamming on the rock-hard ridge.

snbk2.png

"Good luck in there, heroes. Although this is probably common sense, you cannot use bedrolls in there, lest you want to become a midnight snack for a wandering Progg.

With Ayla's last words in mind, the party travels down a long and decayed staircase spotted with recent spiderwebs. they reach the bottom of the steps, and find themselves in a large foyer of sorts.

ll5Rk.png

What will the party do?

Posted (edited)

With chocolate on his fingers, Monk Pretzel licks them clean, but finds his hands somwhat damp. He quickly wipes them off on the carriage seats in such a manner that Ayla will not notice.

"I will sleep in my bedroll while the others stand watch. I am quite tired, and I am the party leader after all."

"Is Ayla still with us? I don't see her, but that could be because it's quite dark down here."

Erik goes and looks in the chest, carefully avoiding the two spiders while he does so.

MZd3A.png

Erik, even with all of his barbaric might, cannot get the chest open. it is locked, but not by conventional means. On the chest there is an engraving.

"They say all cloud's have a silver lining, but I think the correct color is green. I am your guide through this vault, your directory. Draw a picture of me in tribute above to receive your reward."

This is apparently the handiwork of the Mage Commerz. He had an interesting way of storing his goods, that's for sure. Also sure enough, there is a soft white rock pad above the cryptic engraving for drawing on.

What will the party draw onto the rock pad? you only get one try!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ayla is not with you, and Monk Pretzel has forgotten her words as much as her presence. Bedrolls may not be used in the vault.

Just joking. Are we actually supposed to draw something, or just tell you what we "draw".

While Erik goes to the chest, I keep on eye on him while at the same time checking out the contents of the table.

Erik looks at the rock pad, and says "I think we should try this later when we have more information." He looks around, trying to see if the arches in the walls are doors, and if they are, which ones are open. He then walks to the table and, looking suspiciously at the dragon, tries to open the box on it.

QM note:If you could actually draw it and post an image, that'd be grand. Not everyone has those types of programs though, so I'd understand if you just "say" it. :classic:

The arches in the walls are simply for decorative purposes, and do not open.

As you draw closer to the desk, you realize the dragon is just an interesting paperweight and the "box" is a stack of important papers.

The spiders snicker in the other side of the room quietly, apparently amused by your misconceptions.

Or we could draw it and take a picture of the thing we draw.

I take a look at the white paper lying next to the others.

So there are only doors at the end of the green paths?

Erik examines the far right door for a lock, and to see if the white thing is another one of those drawing puzzles. He also puts his ear to the door, to try and hear anything that sounds like a Progg.

Any method of portrayal would work. :sweet:

Monk Pretzel, you pick up and scrutinize the envelope, taking out it's contents. In it, unsurprisingly, is a letter:

Dear Loyal Customer,

As thanks of being with our bank for so long, you have been fledged in to the Loyalty Program! Member of the Loyalty Program get an increased interest for their savings and complimentary pastries upon entry.

One again, thank you for continuing business with our humble bank.

Congrats,

Commerz Bank staff

Looks like Ayla's father was going to initiate someone into a loyalty program but didn't live to send the letter. That poor customer is probably hungry for pastries right now....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

QM note: Yes, green is paths.

Erik, you try to open the far right door - and it opens a creak! The spiders are thrown into a huge panic and give you look of sheer terror.

Nu8hG.png

"Nonono! Big barbaric-y guy! Do NOT go in there!"

TeNTf.png

"The beasts in there are awful! Have you ever seen your friend shishekebabbed in front of your eyes!? The same'll happen to you!"

Nu8hG.png

"Poor, poor Widow..."

The party has found Morxes and Lyrol!

"Ayla is gone. Let's loot this place!"

"Do you think the chest wants us to draw a picture of it? Or do you think we are supposed to draw a picture of Mage Commerz? If so, do any of you have a clue as to how he looks?"

"It looks like this is a letter that was probably "blank carbon copied" to numerous people. It's a technique I tried a couple times, but this one is obvious because there is no name, only "Dear Loyal Customer." Do any of you think it's worth keeping? I would very much like to kill these nasty, creeping things. I hate spiders. They are as bad as demons." I head towards the door where Erik is already standing.

"Do you think we should go ahead and enter?" I ask him. "Otherwise we could explore the other doors first."

The spiders speak in synchonization:

"Eeep, don't do THAT! The last human in here was much nicer..."
