Kristel Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I have been thinking....should I change the Landmark store structure to be a different shape.... It is one of my favourite New Mannum buildings as it is. The only change I would consider is reducing the height of the green roof part by one stud, as it is quite high compared to the rest of the buildings. I also like the vehicles you've been adding and the cement mixer looks awesome. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks and the height is on purpose.....you might see that it is just about the only structure without a ceiling, just a pitched sheet metal looking roof like the type found on warehouses. I have done a lot research on each build sometimes visiting a real version of the structure.....i.e. Landmark at Gawler Belt, S.A. and using Goggle Maps as well. Keep watching.....yes, more vehicles are coming soon too. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 I decide to meet at the half way point with the Landmark store so here we go...... I hope the large windows and side entrance look okay.....any comments are welcome.....though this building with stay as it is now.....I'm happy with it ! Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Just a quick image...... More to come of course. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Some extra trimming has been done..... Some special's signs on the windows of the supermarket. Some window signs and rolls of fencing wire. I've replaced the post bill pay sign on the door......a neat view down the street eh ? Of course more to come....keep as usual watching. Edit - chemist has a chemist now..... Edited November 7, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Is that you in the butcher's outfit? Nice to see some fencing wire but I have nothing to attach the wire to....... Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 No, if the butcher had a mo and no sideburns then it would be me.......but I don't man-handle sausages. Fencing wire....I forgot the posts....oh, well...there's always tomorrow ! Need more cash to flow in so I can finish off some more of the town so I can start the pub, etc.,. Keep watching.......with sausages ! Quote
PsyKater Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Your town looks really great. It reminds me of my childhood very much. If i remember correct, I was using custom "stickers" (normal white paper attached with Scotch Tape) as well to add more realism to my town. edit: Nice slogan for your food factory: "Buchter: Quality meets... Chemist" Oh... wait. Edited November 7, 2012 by PsyKater Quote
monsinjor Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Lightingtiger, you are the master of this. All those stickers and details... I like it very much. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Thanks 'monsinjor' and 'PsyKater' for your kind comments, yes I use to do the paper/sticky tape years ago before I discovered photo sticker paper at Officeworks. Now today...what can I make without having to go back to Toy Corner (till next week....Heath's birthday on the 14th if memory serves me correct).....ah, more council machinery perhaps ? Oh, yeah now......butchers + chemist = food factory.....somebody has been reading Sweeney Todd eh ? Keep watching ! Quote
Kristel Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Looking good! Love all the new details. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Looking good! Love all the new details. Thanks 'Kristel', it only takes one or three little things that make something POP and add that realism.....almost like magic. Take the rolls of fencing wire.....4 wheel hubs and a sticker made similar to the real one..... Keep watching today for more stuff ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Let's play spot the difference ? Keep watching ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 Is it that white coffin that is next to the post office? Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 It's a rainwater tank.....I've never seen a coffin that shape ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 8, 2012 Author Posted November 8, 2012 Question I have for everyone.....to do with my hotel design.........modern or late 19th century or art deco ? (it will be single level though due to the cost factors) Quote
monsinjor Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I would like to see it as late 19th century hotel. Since this is a town. I don't know... Anyway, I know it will be great, as all the things you've done. Can't wait. Quote
Bamos Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Something like this model train motel will work http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/bac/bac45214.htm Bill Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Something from the 1890's eh ? (late Victorian era.......hmm, I'll look into that.).......a motel also could make an appearance later on.....we shall see. Keep those suggestions and ideas coming everyone ! Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Loving all your stuff LT! I'm too lazy to go through all 14 pages, but I would love to see some interiors of the supermarket, it looks great from the outside I can imagine the inside looks just as great. Quote
Kristel Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Question I have for everyone.....to do with my hotel design.........modern or late 19th century or art deco ? (it will be single level though due to the cost factors) I'd go art deco or late 19th century, as the pubs always tend to be the older buildings in a town. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 Thanks, it's going to be an old railway hotel of the 1890's.......and I'll see if I remember to take some fresh supermarket pictures next week. Keep suggesting.....keep watching ! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Great new decals The wire roll is especially impressive Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 Fencing wire roll was a stroke of genius on my part I guess, I was just going to use round 2x2 bricks but couldn't find enough light bluey greys so I had a few spare rims. Hotel starts this week...... late 19th century style, I'll started in a day or so designing it on LDD, Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Road working going on right now...... More to come......when my cash flow improves....again ! Keep watching......keep those suggestions flowing in as well ! Quote
