Alasdair Ryan Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 You should a some shelving behind the bar also a sink and a worktop. Brick on old tiger. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks 'Alasdair'.....yeah old tiger, very funny ! Anyway what you see is what the pub will be except to the right I might put an external ice chest and public toilet since this sits right next to the picnic area. Like I said more tomorrow ! Quote
michaelozzie Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Another question......should the train station (which comes after the pub) be similar in design period (late 19th century - Victorian era) ? Yes that would make sense as most of the pubs near the train stations appeared when the train station was built (At least in the rural towns) Riding on those old steam trains made you very thirsty it seems. And for a hard earned thirst theres only one cold beer, Victoria Bitter actually I think I will have a beer now myself Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks 'michael', I have already decided on the train station....it will be of similar build to the pub as they were built at the same time by the same builder all those years ago. I must dig through my spare parts so I can finish off the bar area, floor and front wall exterior today....then I can do the hardest thing.....the roof ! Keep watching ! Quote
Kristel Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 The pub looks good so far! I'm looking forward to see the finished product. PS. Did a bricklink order this morning, so I should be able to have a go at that cement mixer soon. Quote

I'm currently working on the pub right now......updating a.s.a.p. so keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 Well, it's slow going....money is getting really tight as again ! I'm trying to continue without needing to buy any more parts until money flows in again! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 I like surprising people with my work....... I think this one screams Aussie country pub eh ? Roof, ceiling, stickers and barmaid to come......keep watching ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 It reminds me of a telephone exchange with windows in it. But hey who wouldn't like to have a drink in one of those anyway..... Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 It reminds me of a telephone exchange with windows in it. But hey who wouldn't like to have a drink in one of those anyway..... I've never drank in a phone box before.....every where else almost yes.... It will look more believable when I can get a fresh pack of photo sticker papers......broke right now, unless things change. Keep watching anyway......still might try and get a few things done that don't require stickers. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Keep watching anyway......still might try and get a few things done that don't require stickers. Like a rebuild? Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 Like a rebuild? No, just this..... Dam I need those stickers......oh, well when work comes in again I can afford them.....keep watching anyway ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 (edited) Maybe its the colour that's wrong? It does not shout out pub to you.Is that a recycling bin be side it? Edited November 21, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 That's an ice storage/merchandiser where people get bags and blocks of ice out of......once they pay the barkeep for it of course. Once I can get some fresh stickers it will look even better......plus I'm still thinking more buildings......but again it's a NO cash at the moment that's stopping this poor old tiger ! The way it's going this might be the saddest Christmas for my family in over 10 years.....trying to afford presents for my wife and son is hard with no cash and impossible to spend a cent on New Mannum......I'm not the only small business person doing it tough in Adelaide at the moment though. Keep watching anyway. Quote
Kristel Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 [insert big bear hug emoticon here] I always try and emphasise to my daughter that being able to spend time with your family and loved ones is more important than receiving presents. Be strong. Quote

Be strong. Thanks, I had to get extensions on my water and power bills yesterday, It's very true what you say, though I made promises to my son and there has been too many times I have let him down and broken his heart......being a dad (parent) is hard. When I feel low I try and build.....getting positive feedback is a great shot in the arm. I'll try and have something else up today.....so as usual keep watching. Quote

Keep watching anyway. Maybe you could consider selling some sets or so, just to bring in some cash to celebrate Christmas a bit more like everyone got used to. I would really do so, if i was in your position... And, like Kristel said, spent the time you have on your family, to compensate for the 'smaller' presents...My parents could also only give me presents at my birthday and at 'Sinterklaas'; some kind of christmas-giving-presents-opportunity..and i was a happy kid as well! I hope the best and hope as well your family is in good health, because that is the most important thing! Greetz, LegoSjaak Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Thanks, I have one client lined up for tomorrow.....about a hundred buck install but that's all......take the jobs when they come up I guess. Anyway I found a spare piece of unused photo sticker paper so........ Finally got that CASE sign finished......now I only a have ceiling to fit to the Holden/Case dealer building. Now people can see this is an Aussie pub ! Hopefully more tomorrow......keep watching ! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 When I feel low I try and build.....getting positive feedback is a great shot in the arm. this might be more negative feed back from me,but I actually think you should make that pub a ''Starbucks''. You have are very close to the shape of the sign already,it just needs some green paint and new stickers. Quote
Kristel Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Looks like the Birdsville Pub, but with a black verandah. I like it. Quote
monsinjor Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Looks great! And they got only 2 hours afternoon for meal? Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Thanks everyone today for your comments and feedback. Starbucks is a dirty word in South Australia......their chain lasted less than a year before going belly-up ! Beer is preferred in my town than weak coffee......of course in moderation children. Yes, in country hotels meals are generally served between those hours.....things like fish'n'chips, surf'n'turf and the ever so favourite beef or chicken schnitzel ! I did use the Birdsville pub as part inspiration for this......I goggled 'railway hotel' and looked at what was out there......then went for the simplest thing that wouldn't cost the earth to make. Head scratch time.....what next for this until more base plates arrive......vehicles I guess....more later so keep watching. Quote
monsinjor Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Well, country need jeeps or pickups Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 23, 2012 Author Posted November 23, 2012 Well, country need jeeps or pickups Perhaps a 4x4 Land-cruiser or similar......maybe today I'll try and build one. Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 23, 2012 Author Posted November 23, 2012 Just quickly I found a spare 48x48 in storage so I tossed this section together for photo taking......if only one ! Keep watching as there is more and more to come ! Quote
