Elander Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 (edited) The long dark of Moria Hi together, I have created the Westgate of Moria (without the gate ). I hope you will like it. Gimli: "Soon, Master Elf, you will enjoy the fabled hospitality of the Dwarves!"Roaring fires! Malt beer! Ripe meat off the bone! This, my friend, is the home of my cousin Balin. And they call it a mine. A MINE!" Boromir: "This is no mine. It's a tomb! We make for the Gap of Rohan. We should never have come here!" As the wizard passed on ahead up the great steps, he held his staff aloft, and from its tip there came a faint radiance. The wide stairway was sound and undamaged. Two hundred steps they counted, broad and shallow; and at the top they found an arched passage with a level floor leading on into the dark. Gandalf: "We now have but one choice. We must face the long dark of Moria. Be on your guard. There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world. Quietly now. It's a four-day journey to the other side." Let us hope that our presence may go unnoticed" Edited July 14, 2012 by Elander Quote
Bammboso Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 (edited) WOW, this is just stunning. Kinda reminds me of this MOC by "gears" I've seen a few days ago. You did a brilliant job capturing the scene of the movie. I only have one suggestion: I guess it would be even more impressive if you made a darker picture of your MOC, maybe even black & white. That would make it look way more accurate in my opionion Edited June 23, 2012 by Bammboso Quote
Combee Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Woo great job Elander! A perfect recreation of that scene! Good work making the stonework look worn down. I can't wait to assemble my fellowship and build some scenes for them too Quote
Jesperallen Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Really nice! The stonework is great and I think you´ve captured the hard dwarwish building style. Like the hard, rocky feeling and that the mine seems to extend even aftar the moc ends. Quote
Vindicare Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Very impressive build. The stonework is incredible, as is the whole build. I Like the surrounding cave you did, it frames the tomb well. Quote
BrickPicker Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Friggin FANTASTIC!!!! Now that's what a LOTR set should look like!!! Quote
Angeli Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 love it ;) great idea for underground cities ;) Quote
Darkdragon Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Very impressive. All the little details you put in really capture the scene from the movie as I remember it. Quote
General Magma Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 This looks fantastic - great work Elander! Gotta love seeing all of the Fellowship together in one scene as well. The details are a great touch, each of them. Once again, very good job on this. ~ General Magma Quote
Hive Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Fantastic work and pretty spot on in terms of the movie. Very impressive. Quote
HawkLord Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I know it's a very over-used word, but this is epic. It fully realizes the scope and depth of Moria. Quote
Delta 38 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 That looks great! It looks like it extends far further back than it actually does, and the weathered look works well. Nice work. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Excellent job capturing the scene The rockwork is stunning, and the stairs work very well. Great work Quote
Masked Builder Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Dude, this is great! All of that rock work is superb. I have yet to get the full Fellowship, but I will soon! Quote
K-Nut Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Really great MOC! The stairs and walls are superb! Quote
TheDarkness Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Absolutely fantastic! The depth is amazing  Quote
JackJonespaw Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Whoa, this is amazing! This looks just like the movie, and what it looked like in my imagination in the books! I know this is a small issue, but I really get paranoid about minifigs - aren't the Hobbit's cloaks the same? The rest is superb! Great job! Quote
Legonardo Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Great Work, I am liking your minifig collection Quote
SheepEater Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Superb MOC! I like that you used *some* of the bricks from the Mines of Moria set (or at least the stickers with the dwarvish runes) It would never be an official Lego set, though. Lego insist on having play features in all their sets. Edited June 25, 2012 by SheepEater Quote
Ultron Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 This is awesome! And I like how you included Gollum! Quote
SirBlake Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Spectacular! I particularly like the lines of the book included in the presentation. Thanks for posting this. Quote
