That store isn't that much farther than Discover Mills for me.
June 23, 201212 yr While I may not be able to attend the grand opening, I will surely visit that store, seeing as how it is much closer to me in Woodstock than the one in Lawrenceville.
June 24, 201212 yr I was planning on going, but family plans got in the way. Edited June 24, 201212 yr by JackJonespaw
June 30, 201212 yr Well, anout 1.5 hours to go before store opening and there's a small crowd of around 20-30 people adults/kids. I think if you get here at store opening you're sure to get a set. I'll keep you posted. Edit: 1 hour to go and the crowd is probably 30-40 people now. Mall security busted out more railing to manage the crowd that's slowly building. I can see the large R2-D2 sculpture that is being built across the way in a small atruim. Some guy mentioned the t-shirts on Friday sold out around 2pm. Edit part 2: 30 minutes to go, more or less, I guess the crowd has doubled. Maybe, 80 now? Crowd is becoming more excited with anticipation and more lively. Edit part 3: They let everyone in with about 20 minutes to 10am. So, they opened early. I'd guesstimate about 100 people were there when the doors opened. No tickets or group numbers. Once a bunch of people were in you had to wait in line outside. I assume as people left they would let more in. I was in there early. Maybe 20th in line as they opened the doors. I got in and out ASAP, and I didn't linger as it's a small store and very crowded. Once you selected what you want to buy you had to get in line to pay and get your free stuff. As long as you quickly get what you want you can checkout fairly early. The checkout line started backing up pretty quickly once people were inside shopping. Here's the kicker. I asked the lady as I was checking out if the free sets were one per customer. She told me it was 1 per $35 purchase. I was only buying the Seaside House, and I commented that I guess I would have to select another item and get in line. She asked me if I knew exactly what I wanted. I told her the Orc Forge set, so she quickly walked over and picked it up for me. So, i was able to get 2 sets with 2 seperate quailfying purchase. Edited June 30, 201212 yr by sharky
July 1, 201212 yr Made it about 40 minutes to showtime and I was about a store's distance from the snaking line in front of the Lego store. Ten minutes after I'd arrived they let us in early. I spent about five minutes looking around, grabbed my selection (Weathertop) and headed over to the line to wait for a good hour. I think a lot of people were signing up for the VIP program, which contributed greatly to the wait. This was my first opening, and all of the workers were reasonably nice despite the craziness. The store is quite a bit smaller than the Lawrenceville store, and as that is about 10 minutes away, I imagine this was my last trip to the Alpharetta store. I was able to grab this set only by promising my wife that I could get back what I paid for my set by selling the free gift set on the Internet. When I got home I found that they'd slipped an R2-D2 master builder brick into my bag, even though I did not help with the build. Anybody else get one of these as a surprise? The only issue today, other than the line, were all of the dirty looks from the assembled soccer moms. I could have been there buying a set for my daughter for all they knew (not what was happening of course, but I could have). Anybody else get sick of that vibe or am I too sensitive?
July 1, 201212 yr By lunchtime they were out of the Lego store sets and were handing out Mini Sopwith Cammels instead. Kinda disappointing, but I can understand why given the crowds. The store was sweltering. You could barely breath from the heat and all the people. With about a 20 minute wait in line to get in. Sales staff was wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about them. I don't know how they survived the whole day in that malls heat (maul?) My wife talked me into a Grand Emporium, and then added a Jokers Funhouse escape for my bay

Anyone have an idea how long the 330003 promo is going to happen?
July 2, 201212 yr Good thing I didn't go then. I get out of work at 2:30 on Saturday's so by the time I got there they would've been long sold out. At least still closer than the Lawrenceville store for me so I can go to the PAB wall once in a while or check for any sales( made out like a bandit a few years ago at the Lawrenceville store once). Feel sorry for those wanting to get the store model and instead getting the mini Sopwith Camel.

I planned to go back and get my Master Builder brick since the store was packed and I didn't want to hang around all morning. I wonder if they are all gone now that you mention they were just handing them out to anyone. Technically, you are supposed to hand them a small slip of paper saying you participated in the build. I have my slip of paper, but I haven't had a chance to go get it. I won't be able to go until this coming weekend. Didn't notice any dirty looks from anyone. There were a lot of AFOL's there with no kids like me. I have a daughter, but she wasn't able to go with me that morning. The Seaside House I bought was for her though, so she didn't feel so bad that she couldn't go. Edited July 5, 201212 yr by sharky
