Unless I'm much mistaken, looking at the new bat minifigures from The Vampire Castle from the Monster Fighters line it looks like there's a new mold for minifigure arms going out to the side.

Do people think this is a one off or will now continue to appear in LEGO sets? I'm sure we can all think of lots of ideas where these arm moulds would be useful in MOCs. That said the limited poses that can be achieved with them compared with the regular LEGO minifigure arms means I can't see them being included in LEGO sets that often.

How widespread do people think they will become?

Edit:

Hmm... Just realised the wings are probably attached to the arms. I was thinking the arms were separate - Sorry!

Wings or not, its still a new mold! While this one might not be relevant to anything out of the Monsters line (I could see Gillman with them painted green for webbed arms), it shows that Lego is open to making new arm molds. The new Spiderman had curved arms in all the key-art, but strangely not in the sets. I hope we get to see some uses for this in the future

I don't see much use for them really, without the wings. It's just a weird angle, and a funny pose. But, it's certainly nice to see a different arm mold.

For me, those arms would be great for any figure that comes with a sword or for any figure with a frightened head printing. Though honestly I don't expect to see them. Arms are a bit hard to remove and swap out and I'd think over time there could be damage or breakage. Still, they do look really good, but until Lego finds a way to make arms more accessible, than I'd say this would not happen often.

Though this particular style of bat-arm does not have so many different uses, it does show as Percabeth mentioned that the designers and bean-counters at LEGO are open to new arm designs, where required and appropriate.

An interesting question to ask would then be: do you expect new arm designs (allowing poses impossible to achieve with the standard minifig arms) to show up in the near future and would you welcome them?

Maybe a Future Lego Batman Man-bat????

I think the assumption has been there since we knew about this figure that it would be used int he Batman range. They even call it a manbat.

I've already got 4! they're awesome!

I think this is just the second time that LEGO has produced a new arm mold, so I think, like the prosthetic arm, that this will be used a few times more (1-2) but that it will remain relatively scarce.
