March 3, 201015 yr I can sense a disturbance in the Force. A Sith Lord approaches. And his rage can hardly be contained
March 8, 201015 yr "only" 3 Oscars. This will be a good lesson in humility for James Cameron. All the nerd ones Yeah, he deserved the SFX awards, the movie looked good. I haven't seen the Hurt Locker so I don't know if it's an any better story.
March 8, 201015 yr I haven't seen the Hurt Locker so I don't know if it's an any better story. Don't watch it, i've watched the film with my dad, we stoped after a half hour, the film doesn't even contain a story! But when we watched, we watched it with four other people, and they say, it has been nominated for 9 oscars, i want to watch the whole film, there must be something special, and they watched it, and they hate the film completely now. Those people from the oscars just want to do interesting. Inglorious Bastards is 100 times better, and that movie get only one oscar, even Avatar is better.
March 8, 201015 yr we stoped after a half hour, the film doesn't even contain a story! Some of my favorite films have no story But, as a Canadian, war stories are pretty far from my upbringing, so I'll need to see it to know how it fares. I love Full Metal Jacket, but I was offended by the stupidity of Platoon and turned it off about 40 minutes in. But better than Avatar? That's a large, hard to believe statement. I've had dental checkups better than Avatar, particularly the ones that involved gas.
March 8, 201015 yr Interesting discussion. But indeed a film doesn't need to have a story, interesting you bring a Tarantino film up in the same discussion. I remeber Pulp Fictio not having a "story" either, still, it was a great film. Inglorious Bastards was cool, but not great. The ironi is that the only oscar went to the a character which was in my point of view the main character instead of a side character. But he deserverved it non the less. Anyway, the Oscars are a commercial way to celebrate Holywood itself. I don't care who wins them, I'm just happy when some people expect an Oscar and don't get it eventualy.

Yeah, your right, they are just a few people, who thinks this is the best film, but yeah, it is one of the bigest, so i just hoped the Hurt Locked didn't win so much, i didn't care who wins, only not the hurt locker, but sigh.
March 9, 201015 yr I have seen Hurt Locker, and it was a good film, but I was still expecting Avatar to win. Though I like Avatar less and less the more I dwell on it, I thought that this year the Academy would really boost its ratings and give the big award to a movie that lots and lots of people actually went to see. But instead, they give it to Hurt Locker, a typical art-house pick. Oh well. I thought Hurt Locker was a good film, but not the best. I liked some of the other ten choices better (not Avatar though), but most of those were just random picks to satisfy the new count of ten.
April 25, 201014 yr Apparently I am the first ever person to buy the Avatar film on DVD in the UK... Awesome!! P.S. I met Stephen Lang, great guy, really nice
May 1, 201014 yr Well I read in a local newspaper that apparently Avatar might be getting rereleased in theatres this summer (at least in the US) with additional scenes.
May 2, 201014 yr Author Yes it is, JC already said that, and there will be a 3d version released, and Jake and ah his girl are already signed for avatar 2.
May 3, 201014 yr Yes it is, JC already said that, and there will be a 3d version released, and Jake and ah his girl are already signed for avatar 2. I heard that the second one will take place in the oceans of Pandora, and the third will involve the invading of another planet in the Pandora galaxy.
May 3, 201014 yr I heard that the second one will take place in the oceans of Pandora, and the third will involve the invading of another planet in the Pandora galaxy. I heard that too. Now the question is if it will involve Jake and the girl.
May 21, 201014 yr Avatar? Uh, a western en travesti . If I wanna see a indian&soldiers movie, I choose SOLDIER BLUE.
June 2, 201014 yr Avatar? Uh, a western en travesti . If I wanna see a indian&soldiers movie, I choose SOLDIER BLUE. I'm confused Are you saying you don't like it because it's basiclly the classic western of colonists/soldiers vs indians or that it'e western themed? To be honest it's not really much of a western as it's a sci-fi adaptation of "Pocahontas" which is set as far to the east coast as you can get. Not as much bbased on the Disney version though mind you. Edited June 2, 201014 yr by Forresto

November 18, 201014 yr Author Just watched the extended version, did not think it was possible that this movie could get better but it did, especially the stuff about the school.
June 27, 201212 yr Author Looks like there will be 4 movies and all shoot simultaneously. This is James Cameron's Avatar, not that Japanese manga stuff, or that Shamalan movie. http://au.ign.com/videos/2012/06/26/news-three-avatar-sequels-to-film-simultaneously
June 27, 201212 yr Giddy! I know a lot of people have said they hated the movie but I’m all about the visuals and Avatar delivered in Spades in that aspect, so I’m glad to hear the news. ;)

I'll change the title to reflect this.

June 27, 201212 yr The movie was like an experience more than simply a movie. I felt like I was really there for the 2-3 hours I was watching it. That's what left the biggest impression on me. In fact, that was James Cameron's intent. That is to make you feel like you really visited there and that it might be a real world someone out there in space. Sure the story was a bit predictable, but if that's the worst I can say about it I think overall it's a good movie. After watching the special features on blu-ray I see how much innovation and new filming techniques went into making the film. All the work to capture each actors unique performance is unprecedented. If one is going to use almost all CG to make a movie this is the way to do it. cough...George Lucas...cough They even went so far as to really create all the costumes of the Na'vi in real life using real weavers and craftspeople even though no one was going to wear them on screen. His reason was to make sure that what was created using CG was something that could actually exist in real life and to give it more authenticity. I'm glad to hear that he'll be doing so much more with this world he created. Edited June 27, 201212 yr by sharky
June 27, 201212 yr I'll probably see these next three movies, but they aren't gonna be on my "must see" list. I thought the first one was good enough, but I think it's highly over-rated. I still really enjoyed the movie, so I'm looking forward to these new films. Also, now that the evil humans left, I'm curious to see how the story will play out.

My guess is the humans will stage an invasion of the planet. I don't think humans would give up that easily if the mineral they are mining is as valuable as what the movie states. At the same time, the tribe needs to be rebuilt. I'm guessing Jake will be made Chief or perhaps there will be a power struggle for leadership. You know Jake will at least have some kiddos running around. Maybe the Na'vi need to adopt some technology for defensive purposes. There's actually still a lot of story that could be told. Not sure about 3 more movies, but I guess Cameron wouldn't even try to make them if he already didn't see how it will all play out. Edited June 27, 201212 yr by sharky
