My Grandson, Jake has 'seen' your review (he knows the Eurobrick shortcut on my iPad and goes to & through this forum every chance he gets). He says to buy the set. 'It looks like fun!'

Well, that's it then... How can I disappoint a 5yr old!

Read the review again after building mine slowly and I come across two minor errors

What you can't see in this image is that the orange output goes all the way through so there is an identical output on the back.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, the servo motor doesn't have a through and through connection point (like the NXT motors) but a 1L deep connection point on either side with a 1L distance between them. I suppose that's more or less what you meant to say though... :sweet:

You can count up the gear reduction. One stage is diff to 20 tooth gear, 28:20. There are then 3 sets of 12:20 bevel gears (one set in the wheel hub, one shown here by the diff, one in the front of the picture going up to the motor), giving a total of 7:1.

I calculated (20/12)+(28/20)+(20/12)+(20/12)=6.4:1

If you use Sariel's Gear Ratio Calculator you get 1:6.485 due to rounding error.

That's not an error. The orange output does go all the way through. However, you cannot put an output axle all the way through.

Your answer is right (I typed mine into the calculator wrong), but your equation is wrong. The gear ratios need to be multiplied together, not summed.

My error was that I did (20/12)*3 instead of (20/12)^3. It was only a coincidence that it came out so close with such a fundamental error. Sorry about that!

I just asked someone on ebay.de about shipping cost, and he said that the whole sett weighs about 2300 g, sealed in the box.

Just one seller on Bricklink.com says that the weight of 9398 set + package for shipping is 4400 gramms. It's very strange, i supposed that it's weight will be nearly 8297 set (2240 gramms).

I understood what shop Inquisitor had mentioned, I ordered my own there too.And the seller says that the total weight of the parcel is 4400 grams.

Is the orange color the same as the unimog, or the lighter kind ? (8365 has this other orange)

In the comparison picture it looks diffrent from the 8297 seats.

Could just be the lighting being more intense on the crawler.

@ nicoga3000: Look for the 9398 on the Shop.Lego.com website beginning Mon., July 23rd (only 2 more weeks of waiting). It's being sold now on the German Shop.Lego.com website now.

Any date for uk or Ireland?

Blue water Lego store couldn't be specific, but they did say a lot of new sets were scheduled for sale on August 1st. We've been waiting for seaside house and other creator sets too.

Ok so I think this hasn't been asked (I'm extremely tired but can't sleep) I was looking at the pictures and the steering. What if you moved the connection back a pinhole, would that improve the radius? It looks simple to do with the provided pieces, has anyone that has the set tried?
