kyphur Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Sorry I've been absent for a while... Now we're going to move over a thousand miles to Savannah Georgia so I'm in the process of packing up everything including the LEGO Train Layout. Here is all of my track: LEGO Track Inventory Flex Track - 1,281 Double Crossover - 7 Straight - 202 Curve - 191 90 Degree Crossing, 9v - 2 Switch, Left - 13 Switch, Right - 13 Train Bridge (uses 16 Flex Track) - 1 Active EOL Buffers (My MOD, uses 2 Flex Track) - 20 Ballasting Sample (uses 1 Straight, 1 BlokBricks EOL Buffer) - 1 Quote
Artifex Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Good luck with the new place. I wish you can get that layout ready in your new place no time! Quote
Ritz Brick Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Having a large collection/layout and then moving has just got to be the worst thing ever. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I've been wondering what been up with your layout. It's a shame you had to pack it up, but I KNOW the feeling. I hope the move goes well and you are able to start rebuilding! Best of luck Quote
harnbak Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I was following your basement layout and certainly hope you will have the space in your new casa! Quote
funkdis Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I was following your basement layout and certainly hope you will have the space in your new casa! Wow, just checked out your flickr album, thats a very big setup, need a friend to play with it? I'll bring the beers. Quote
kyphur Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 (edited) I'm not sure how long it will be but the layout will return! The move is good for the family, especially Gabby (whom the layout is dedicated to). I have a design for tables that will be sized 60x30, 30x30, 30x15 and finally 15x15 triangle (for inside corners). They will have mounting holes every 7.5 inches on all sides that will be used to attach the tables to each other and also to mount a plexiglass barrier around the perimeter. As designed only half of the tables will need legs. Until I again have the space for the whole thing I'll focus on building enough of the tables and design/building smaller sections of the larger plan. Edited June 29, 2012 by kyphur Quote
Rail Co Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Well, that must be so annoying to have to take up your layout like that . It is good though that you have enough room in the new place to rebuild it! Well good luck with the new place and layout Good luck again! Rail Co Quote
L@go Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 It's sad to see such a great layout being torn apart, but I certainly wish both you and the rest of your family the best of luck with the move and getting started again in a new place. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Good luck kyphur I've been there too ...I wish you to go to a house bigger than this one! Quote
DwarfSleepy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I was just wondering how your layout would be progressing, and was searching for the old thread to ask the question. I guess this answers it... All the best to you and your family during the stressful time of moving. Hope you settle in well. Show us some progress once in a while when you get going again, I liked the step-by-step build-up of your previous layout. Quote
LegoMavrick Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 All the best on your move and hope it all goes well. Best thing with Lego though is that you get to rebuild it all again. I really feel for chaps thats say have an N Guage or HO gauge layout to move ....OUCH. Look forward to see the layout back in place. Quote
Legobrandon Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Was wondering where you were. It is unfortunate you had to disassemble the layout. But on the bright side, I look forward to the new one! Quote
kyphur Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Within 20 hrs we'll be on the road from Northern Illinois to Savannah Georgia! All 40ish cubic feet of lego are securely packed in the truck witheverything else we own... Sorry I've been scarce on the forum lately, hope to get more active once we've settled in down there... patje Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 good luck in your new home sometimes it is sad to have to break your layout one of the advantages is that when you make any mistake on the old layout, or thinks dat not good fit in it, it can build much better in the new layout now .... my old layout (2004 - 2011) is almost completely dismantled and the errors I've seen of my old layout, will be able to be eliminated in the new layout you continue to learn from mistakes of the past and the following layout is much nicer good luck Quote
roamingstop Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I really hope you guys get to enjoy your roadtrip... and remember to take a camera into the cab so that the family can take photos of any passing trains! Quote
Icosahedron Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I can't imagine how many hours you'd have to spend re-assembling the track after it is moved to its new location. Safe travels, kyphur. Quote
