Posted July 2, 201212 yr Is it possible to have too many axles, bushes, and pins in your collection? Do you have a large over stock of items in your collection? With family, my full time job and 2 part time small businesses (BrickShrits and ) my collection has been sitting mostly unbuilt for several years now. I don't have the time to build like i use to.I'm curious to know what items others might have over stock in. more photos of my collection in this link after moderation. (notice in some of the photos in this folder you can see the shirts are taking over the build space.) bob
July 2, 201212 yr Looks like you have almost as many axles, bushes, and pins in your collection as I do, it took ages to sort them all
July 2, 201212 yr Color sort FTW! Then again by type, lol! By type is better because you can see what colour it is at the smallest glance I find.
July 2, 201212 yr Almost as many as i have. Wen i was of work with a bad back i spent 4 weeks most days sorting them all. Then wife let Nephew near them who tiped the lot on the spare room floor.. So have to start again. I wont say what i said to Wife
July 2, 201212 yr By type is better because you can see what colour it is at the smallest glance I find. Good point but I like to keep track of how many I have of a specific color as well, and I'm OCD!
July 2, 201212 yr I wont say what i said to Wife "Aw, they're so cute at that age, aren't they?" I re-combined all my Technic pieces into one bin from the two desktop drawer units I had them in. Though I could easily pick out the piece I wanted because they each had their own drawer, the drawers themselves were too small to hold any reasonable amount of those pieces. So, I now keep all light bley, dark bley, and black pieces in one bin, including the blue 3L friction pins and the 2L blue pin/axle combo pieces. The light tan pieces stay in a small drawer, so I can find the frictionless 3L pins and the 12t bevel gears easily. All colored beams stay in their own drawer, since there wouldn't be enough of them for me to easily find them in the bin.
July 2, 201212 yr No,too much is never enough! However, if you never use them, I could take a few bags of your hands. My collection needs to grow!

My sorting method involves building them into models and putting them on my shelves.

I find when I take apart MOCs I have no space left in my containers! I am amazed at the number of pins you have. How long did it take to collect all of them? tim
July 2, 201212 yr That's probably what my collection would look like if I combined every single set. But I keep them all in their respective sets, sorted by type in individual bags. Also, I keep axles separate from bushes&pins, and thin beams separated from the connectors. Edited July 2, 201212 yr by SheepEater
July 2, 201212 yr Author Looks like you have a real problem there. yeah, tough problem for someone to have. thanks for the offer but, currently i am not looking for any off site 'Iron Mountain' type storage. bob I am amazed at the number of pins you have. How long did it take to collect all of them? i have been building and collecting for a long time now. probalby since the early 90s. i bought 8868 air tech claw new at TRU. here is my Brickshelf folder bob But you should really sort them better. i have lots of my stuff sorted. here is an example: the extras in the previous photos do not fit in my sorting bins so they go in over flow bags. bob Why is Brickshelf so slow at moderating? i posted this folder on saturday and it is still not public. bob

You have finer granularity than me as I just have one box entirely dedicated to "stuff with teeth", one box for "thin lift arms", some trays for "bits that allow an axle and pin to cross at right-angles". It works for me so far. Edited January 23, 201510 yr by Peppermint_M No photo quotes please!
July 2, 201212 yr Good God, you have a mountain of stuff, LOL. How many new turn tables do you have, LOL ? I spotted that bag, I have mine in Acro-mils containers, and a bunch of plano boxes. I,ll have to get a pic of it and see if I can post it on here for you guys to see. My fiance calls it LEGO central, she hates them like you wouldnt believe, LOL.
July 3, 201212 yr I have an insane number of gears, because anytime I see a cheap pile of them on ebay I buy em, and when I am grabbing random parts from bricklink I end up adding half the gears in the store to my order. But you can't ever have too many parts :D
July 3, 201212 yr I ran out of blue 3L pins when I was building my Super Cub. Most of the blue 3L pins had been used on some other projects, so I had to dig out my "old-school" Technic bin for some black 3L pins to use in inconspicuous places. I was running out of light bley 16t gears too.
July 3, 201212 yr I ran out of blue 3L pins when I was building my Super Cub. This. I always think I have lots of something until I build something and run out. 3L axles are the worst, IMO, because they seem like such a useless little part when I'm designing then once I start building I mysteriously have to keep refilling the little compartment that holds them. For the road train I ended up buying 10k black 2 long pin friction just because it was easier than trying to work out how many I needed. Since they're cheap and I got a further price break for buying so many it worked out well. If only 5x11 panels were like that.
July 3, 201212 yr Dear Bob, nice to see you here. I am an admirer of your RCX to PF stuff. However, I do think that posting pictures of various bags of unsorted technic bricks seem quite cheap, almost like technic pr0n And mixing axles and pins in the same bag?! What is next - mixing gears and pulleys? Gosh, you've done this also - argghh
July 3, 201212 yr Now I'm not worried. My room (lego room) is overflow of technic parts, very full, but not a third as yours.. Now I can breathe. And yes, I have too technic pins compared with other pieces.
