Dannylonglegs Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) Call me harsh, but he got to learn to deal if that is the case. Of course sometimes there are going to happen things in a game that you don't agree with. The best and most mature thing you can do at that point is with until the game is over, and give feedback to the host. Last thing I want to say about this subject, I felt really good that I had captured my first scum, mostly on my own as well. This was the first Mafia game on EB I felt I was playing as I should be playing, I had a lot of fun for when it lasted and I had a very positive attitude at the game in general. Other games were amazing, had super beautiful pictures and funny stories, but this game was the first really where I had tons of fun playing, if you know what I mean. Damned shame. I was having allot of fun riding circles around you all too, although now that I do have a little experience with scum, I think I prefer analyzing to manipulating, but I still wish I'd had a longer chance to grow accustomed to it and make coordinated moves. Also, I didn't really get a chance to figure out who the PRs were, and I'm dying to learn if I was right about Darkdragon. So, I was having allot of fun before Flipz got the Idea to play this gambit. I made at least 50 posts arguing against it unsucessfully. It really is a shame that everything's all shaken up now, but I'm still highly anticipatory of the reboot. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited July 4, 2012 by Dannylonglegs
swils Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I don't condone attacking the host, though I can understand why he did it. The raging and team-outing, though, it really didn't shock me. Okay, maybe from Flipz it did, but then again, maybe even that shouldn't have surprised me. Look at Jedi Temple. There was a 'ragequit' there, and names were outed (can't remember how many were true or not, at the moment), but play continued. It was actually even enough to raise significant suspicion against Doc early on. In attacking Bob's hosting methods, I believe that Flipz was trying to establish a case against some of his own, for their own protection. I'm inclined to think that he was trying to establish an utterly ridiculous case, one that would hold no water at all, so it would seem as though he was just trying to take some town down with him. It should have been done without attacking the host. The gambit should have been made strictly within the game & the players thereof. But I don't think it was done out of pure malice, and I definitely don't think he intended to upset the entire game with it.
Darkdragon Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 DId I see my name? We can't share infos until end of v2 but I am curious what you think I was. Anyway, the game started out really fun for me. Even though it ended abruptly, I have to say that the conclusion/timewarp photos/story are absolutely great! laff-out-loud funny. I don't want to comment on the game itself since we all know what happened there and the horse is still dead, plus the fact it didn't really get into it's swing (i'd say the most fun interesting stuff starts around day 4 usually) before being closed down. Thanks for all the hard work bob.
Waterbrick Down Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 I congratulate you Bob for sticking this through and appreciate your maturity that you have shown in handling this entire situation. While I don't agree with the manner Flipz chose to express his frustration, I believe his point is valid. I think in the future the hosts should state the rules at the beginning and let the players go at it from there. Bob's last comment that there were no clues in the pictures, did make an impact as several people commented afterward that Bob's clarification sealed the case against Flipz. Scum are free to make up any lie they want even if it goes against the rules and I think it's the players that need to call them out on their lie not the host. That all being said, I'm glad the game is going to continue and it was great playing with all of you the first time round.
def Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 The thing about Flipz's roleclaim is that he never should have made it, because it never would have been believed. Bob had clearly stated the day before that the pictures were jokes and a number of players pointed out this fact in the thread before Bob posted his disclaimer. That may have been the final nail in the coffin, but there were already 50 nails already nailed in. Whether people believed it or not really wasn't the point. It was that the host shouldn't step in to reiterate the rules when someone's deliberately mis-stating them in order to mislead. So, saying that Flipz never should have made the claim is not up to you, and not up to the host. In the last game I hosted, I did a small amount of clarification on day one, but after that, it was sink or swim for the players, and the scum did deliberately misinterpret the rules, which was to their benefit. I said nothing (except on the dead writeboard). It was one of my better hosting duties
Shadows Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 So, saying that Flipz never should have made the claim is not up to you, and not up to the host. Perhaps not, but it was particularly bad. The first time I read the claim was in pm before looking at the day, and even without the benefit of having seen the picture, I knew it was crap. Then again, I'd already suspected him from his previous pm and wasn't overly surprised. The rant, real, fake or a mixture of both, was even worse and such behaviour will never be tolerated on EB, and that ends that discussion since Flipz is currently chambered and we do not discuss specific situations related to chambered members.
Dragonator Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Like blatantly showing a figure's body like Dragonator did to the killer in the first Mystery Castle. He deserved it! Was throwing around all my Greek armour...
Dannylonglegs Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 (edited) I guess We can discuss our basic strategy now. On night 2 we targeted Fhomess to kill because he was A. a strong Townie, and B. because he made a coherent argument against Tammo. Fhomess's death would incriminate Tammo, who many were ready to turn on at the time. We also lead every almost Lynch that day to prepare for future Lynches should the plan not work. On day 3 We'd get Tammo Lynched for getting rid of Fhomess, and on Night 3 we'd target an unprotected Townie. (We really wanted to get rid of Scuba ) With Tammo dead and Townie on day 4, we'd blame it on Flare who had been against Tammo from before day 1 (thanks Pal for that info ) With Tammo dead, I'd send him a post that said something along the lines of, "4 and 7" a bad hand to get in Poker (Texas Hold-em) The only thing that could have stopped us happened though, which was Flipz getting blocked (although, a successful investigation would have done the same. VolcanicPanic's death would not have dented the scheme though because he had been an outlier who many suspected.) I take some credit for this plan. With that plan down the drain, we devised several gambits to fix the Flipz problem, and eventually, I came in contact with CallmePie anonymously, who I suspected to be a Neutral Cop. I convinced him to not investigate anyone who Flipz outed and to tell us his target and the result. I take credit for that too. And it's the reason for my new Profile Status. He said later I reminded him of a corny 60s Batman Villain. I was aiming for menacing and confusing. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited July 5, 2012 by Dannylonglegs
Hinckley Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Since this is getting into discussing game mechanics, which Bob specifically asked us not to do, I'm going to lock this again. We can wait until tomorrow when Bob re-vamps.
