Interesting. When I first saw it I assumed it was the same tracks as in the PF world, but upon closer inspection it does appear to be the train rail (3228c). I wonder if there's a way to match them up? The mining sub theme could be an interesting one to MOC for.

yups you guys are right, just the old 12V rail but then without the small square openings for the layers... not nice from LEGO :(

The hats are interesting though, but not really train related.

Yes you can join them but it requires using a half stud offset. Most people use a jumper plate. If you search around for on brickshelf you should find pictures.

or maybe cut a ME Models rail (or original 9V track) in half?

I can't really tell from the photo, but it looks like there is no ridges on the top of those rails.

If they are indeed smooth on top, then it would be wonderful if TLC created a end-piece to connect to their train tracks to butt these pieces up to, where we could then create straight runs like ME-Models rails allow you to.

I know some of you are hopeing for narrow guage tracks, but as standard tracks and options(crossovers, larger radius curves for example)don't seem to be being explored by TLC, I doubt they would create a whole other line of smaller track.

But, I keep hopeing!(for more standard track options anyway!)

I enlarged the photo and it looks like there are ridges. Sorry.

With the better photos it's clear they are the standard straight single rail piece with ridges as seen recently in the red cargo train set.

From what you can see on the box, it appears that there will be 4 pieces of rail in the set. The extra 4 running at right angles appear to be an addition for the display. (fairly casually added IMO)

I'm waiting on bricklink order with 8 of them for my small scale layout. It's welcome to see more of them released but I still hope we eventually see a compatible straight narrow gauge rails piece.

Interesting... but it seems the straight rails are not going to be directly compatible with the Indiana Jones track - the 1/2 offset plates will be needed. :(

Indeed, as we expected. The train could be better in my opinion.

However one of the super heros sets (6857) also appears to have black train tracks... which may - or may not be straight (but perhaps Indy-Jones Ramps?)

Nope, that's the Indy ramp and a curved piece, the review on EB mentioned it ages ago.

Couldn't you just cut the ends of the IJ track flush? Kinda permanent I know but it seems unlikely they will ever make compatible straight track since they did not make it for this set.
