mikka says Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 mining train..... seems like something thats rarely touched by the train community Quote
Dhivael Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Interesting. When I first saw it I assumed it was the same tracks as in the PF world, but upon closer inspection it does appear to be the train rail (3228c). I wonder if there's a way to match them up? The mining sub theme could be an interesting one to MOC for. Quote
JopieK Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 yups you guys are right, just the old 12V rail but then without the small square openings for the layers... not nice from LEGO :( The hats are interesting though, but not really train related. Quote

If you search around for on brickshelf you should find pictures. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Ddrilling machine, mining train and machinery for the construction of tunnels ...it looks absolutely new! Quote

Sir E Fullner Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Well, whadya know about that? I think there will be a big bunch of orders on Bricklink for those new rails. Quote

Frankie Roberto Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I'm sure Lego are bound to do narrow gauge straight tracks at some point. After all, the curved and ramped track pieces have been used in a few sets now, e.g. 7199 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7199-1 and 6857 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6857-1 It'd be great if they could do a narrow gauge cross-track too, but I'm not holding my breath on that one... MojoLego Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Here is 4204 from the Nuremberg toy festival (scroll down): http://www.thetoyspy.com/2012/02/03/kocke-klub-lego-toy-fair-showroom-pictures-lotr-friends-monsters/ Quote
roamingstop Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 That monster fighters train is running with EN wheels! But the City Miners set seems to have older ending rails, at least on the left hand side. (flat end) Quote
MojoLego Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 It is possibly not worth mentioning, but there is a large photograph of set 4204 and the short narrow gauge train at the NY Toy Fair from Brickshow: http://www.brickshow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/20120211-192257.jpg Quote

stacker9000 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I can't really tell from the photo, but it looks like there is no ridges on the top of those rails. If they are indeed smooth on top, then it would be wonderful if TLC created a end-piece to connect to their train tracks to butt these pieces up to, where we could then create straight runs like ME-Models rails allow you to. I know some of you are hopeing for narrow guage tracks, but as standard tracks and options(crossovers, larger radius curves for example)don't seem to be being explored by TLC, I doubt they would create a whole other line of smaller track. But, I keep hopeing!(for more standard track options anyway!) Quote

AussieJimbo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) With the better photos it's clear they are the standard straight single rail piece with ridges as seen recently in the red cargo train set. From what you can see on the box, it appears that there will be 4 pieces of rail in the set. The extra 4 running at right angles appear to be an addition for the display. (fairly casually added IMO) I'm waiting on bricklink order with 8 of them for my small scale layout. It's welcome to see more of them released but I still hope we eventually see a compatible straight narrow gauge rails piece. :classic: Edited February 14, 2012 by AussieJimbo Quote

roamingstop Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 However one of the super heros sets (6857) also appears to have black train tracks... which may - or may not be straight (but perhaps Indy-Jones Ramps?) Quote

Nope, that's the Indy ramp and a curved piece, the review on EB mentioned it ages ago. Quote
tedbeard Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Interesting... but it seems the straight rails are not going to be directly compatible with the Indiana Jones track - the 1/2 offset plates will be needed. :( Couldn't you just cut the ends of the IJ track flush? Kinda permanent I know but it seems unlikely they will ever make compatible straight track since they did not make it for this set. Quote
JopieK Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 I agree, but you don't know what might come of course :) Quote
