Posted July 6, 201212 yr Hello, I recently got back into the hobby and have now gotten hold of the Blockade Runner (10019), with box, but no instructions. After some help from the forum I found a instruction manual on bricklink. My question is now, if I ever were to sell this set on, how much of a difference in price does a instruction manual usually make? I can get hold of an manual for 60$, do you think I could get that money back, or isn't it worth it?
July 6, 201212 yr I doubt it's worth it to you to pay that much for the instructions. However, what you should do (when possible) is let people know that they can get complete instructions online. For 10019, Peeron has complete instructions scans. Peeron is an excellent resource for that sort of thing. If you simply put the set for sale and say 'No Instructions,' you are correct that that may diminish interest somewhat. Not everyone is going to know that they could find instructions online, so they would think 'well if I can't even build the set, that's worthless.' If you make it clear that instructions are available online, you avert that problem, and then you'd only alienate a very small amount of strange people who absolutely won't buy a set without the instruction manual included.
July 6, 201212 yr There are also a lot of instruction manuals available directly from this section of the lego.com website in pdf format. When you sell a set you can just download the pdf file, burn it on a cd and include it with the set. That way you can still sell the set with instructions.
July 6, 201212 yr I think that an instruction booklet for $60 is really overpriced, I wouldn't even pay $10.
July 6, 201212 yr I think that an instruction booklet for $60 is really overpriced, I wouldn't even pay $10. You couldn't buy 10019 instructions for that price...maybe a page or two. I bought 6075 Wolfpack Tower without instructions. I would consider buying a set without instructions, but I prefer paper instructions. And, since I don't think I typed instructions enough, I'm gonna type instructions again. Instructions.

That is against Bricklink TOS, but you could probably do it elsewhere. The only issue with selling sets w/o instructions is that it will take a lot longer to sell or you will have to really lower the price.
July 7, 201212 yr Author Thanks for all the pointers everyone. Think I will just bide my time and see if they ever show up a bit cheaper on bricklink. Especially since I don't plan to actually sell it again (in fact haven't even gotten it yet ), but it's good to be prepared.
