Critically wounded in Afghanistan, held captive in a cave by the Ten Rings terrorist group, Tony Stark is forced to build one of his Jericho missiles. Instead, he builds the first version of his Iron Man suit, the Mark I.

I had wanted to make a Lego version of the MK I for quite a while. I've seen others do it by adding various extra 1x1 plates, or cheese slopes for feet. While this does make sense (the MK I is certainly a lot bulkier than his later suits), I felt it never quite looked right. So I thought to myself, "how would Lego do it?", well they'd simply print everything onto a standard fig and just ignore any differences in scale!

As the MK I is a hodgepodge of scavenged parts, it's actually several different colours. I decided to go for a dark tan torso (to represent the thick welders' clothes he wears under the armour), sand green hips, brown hands and dark bluish-grey legs, arms and head. I was also toying with making the welders' jacket in dark orange? I also wanted to give the armour patches of light rust, and a few dents just to capture that "rough around the edges" look in the film, but hopefully balanced against the clean look of the Lego aesthetic.

Anyway, here it is:

I also did a new face for Tony, determined and stubbly during his imprisonment:

Also for good measure, Obadiah Stane:

As always, any feedback or suggestions are most welcome!
