I haven't looked into this thread too much, but since it's a spreadsheet you'd have to enter in all of the parts manually, which could be a huge pain. If someone has an .xml for it, you could mass upload all of the parts. If there is a .lfx file you can convert that into a .xml. I did something similar when I ordered parts for Mike Psiaki's X-Wing (which I'll have done soon). He had instructions, so I built it in LDD, and then converted the .lfx into an .xml. If you don't want to virtually build it, you can just place down all of the parts and then convert it. Hope this helps! Actually, if you want to build it/get parts, take a gander at page 3. That depends upon how rough your 8-year-old is: but it isn't exactly as sturdy as Lego would have made it. My nephews kept theirs together for a few months before breaking it up for parts. 3. As GuyDudeMan27 says: www.bricklink.com. Run the LXF file from post #63 of this thread through LDD Manager to get a "wanted list" which you can upload to Bricklink. Good luck! Quote

I got distracted by other things, and just now remembered that you'd had a few questions for me! I used ScottishDave's instructions and parts list this spring, and placed a couple of Bricklink orders so that I could build it. I took photos, but it took me a few months to get around to getting a working SD card reader. Now that I have, here are my results! That has made my morning! You are the first person I've heard from who has followed my instructions and completed one of these (apart from my nephews, who had my help). I know it's been a few months since you built it, but did you have any problems with the instructions or the parts list? I'm always looking for feedback. Toward the very end of the build, I discovered I was short a few small wedge plates -- 2x3, I think. I forget if they were light bley or dark bley (light, I think), and I can't swear with any confidence that the discrepancy wasn't just a result of me miscounting when I was making my list of things I had vs. things I needed to order. I only bring it up so that if anyone else reports the same tiny issue, you'll have corroboration. The most delicate parts of the actual build were attaching the side engines in the back, and attaching the nose section of the destroyer. For the latter, I had to try a few combinations of plates in different positions to get the ones that were straightest and made for the cleanest lines. They did not wind up 100% symmetrical, but the same thing happens with official LEGO models, of course. You can see from the pics that it worked out pretty well! While it's definitely more fragile than an official LEGO product, it's surprisingly sturdy. I've moved it a few times, and everything stayed where it was supposed to stay. The only major modification I made was to make the forward undercity dark bley instead of black. (For the one part that wasn't available in dark bley, I just used dark gray. It's barely visible, so it's not like it sticks out or anything.) I might have a go at that myself, to see how it looks. Out of curiosity, which part needed to be dark grey? It was the 1x2 hinge plate with 3 fingers. The one at the very front of the undercity, near the nose. As far as I know (and I could be wrong) that part was never available in dark bley. (And probably will never be, since according to BrickLink it hasn't popped up in an official set in 10 years or so, having been supplanted by different hinge styles.) A few sets had it in dark grey, though. I got mine from 7103 Jedi Duel. Thanks again! Edited January 8, 2015 by Admonisher Quote

As an aside: I just realised that, if you replace the jumper plates at the front of the lower city with the new style jumper plates with "interior stud holder", you can then replace the 3-finger hinge with a regular 1 x 3 plate. The only reason I used the hinge plate at all was because I needed something about three studs long which had hollow studs - to attach to the bottom of the old-style jumper plates Quote

ScottishDave Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Yes, the hinge finger plates can be replaced. The one on the bottom - as I just stated - with a 1x3 plate if you use the new-style jumper plates. The ones on the internal frame can be replaced by 1x2 plates with clips and 1x2 plates with handles: but you will have to modify the frame to do so. The ones holding on the engine are hardest to replace as they are forming a 1-plate thick 180-degrees SNOT system. Up to you how you solve this one :-). -- David. Quote

Took me a while due to delayed postal services. I didn't replace any of the hinges, found a BrickLink store in the UK having tonnes of it, so made a large order from him with the rest of the parts that I needed. I used all the parts as suggested except for the toolbox wrench which I skipped since it was used for greebling purposes. There are places where you can substitute for color, but I chose to stay on target Quote

It is intended as a display piece at the office, so I am not that worried. I love how it reflects the style and look of his bigger brother despite being scaled down.
