The Battle of Hoth is neat, but nothing too new. I don't really own much Hoth related sets other than the earlier battlepacks and I bought a few TaunTauns from Bricklink, so I'm not really seeing the benefit of buying this set unless it is on a really good sale. Maybe if I can see the figures closer to see if any of the prints changed or anything. Is that the same Luke as in the X-Wing? Nothing really new there...

But thanks for the images!

Has this been posted or not, there are pictures of THE NEW HOTH SET HERE

[snip]

And here's one with the box set of the hoth set

[snip]

It has something old skool about it, that i really like. Too bad they made that speederbike instead of one or two more trenches. We have enough speederbikes.

Thanks, yeah, we've got it handled in the actual 2013 discussion.

I like the look of the new Hoth set. Ok, there's nothing new in it, but I like the concept of it being essentially an enlarged Battlepack. Only thing I don't like is the silly flick-fire barrel on the Laser cannon, almost as bad as the firing headlights on some of the speeders. Another Imperial would have been nice too.

The Hoth set looks like a massive rehash and not what I was expecting. TLG have done something similar if not exactly the same to each thing in the set. Very disappointed.

Nothing too exciting :sceptic: I was actually getting my hopes up for something new and creative.

I think that Hoth set looks pretty cool! It looks a bit like a army builder set. Ive been collecting Hoth sets over the years in the hopes

of making a big MOC. You take what you can get, in this case a really sweat looking Probe Droid

and a new Snow Speeder!

Eh, it looks alright. Pretty similar to some of the Hoth sets we've seen before, but like I said earlier, I guess people who want a big Battle of Hoth could get this. But none of it interests me too much. I already own the Hoth battle set that first introduced the Taun Taun back from 2009 and the Wampa Cave, so that means I already own pretty much everything included in that set except for some updated figures. Like I said, it looks like an alright set, but I can easily pass on this one.

Ok, to me this "new" Hoth set (what´s exactly new? one figure? awesome) just proves that it´s time for Disney to bring on the new Trilogy ASAP! Really, TLG is running out of ideas heavily!

Thanks For the Pictures Kez! Well, I actually kind of like the feel of the set as it seems like a large battle pack with some new hoth stuff. I don't like the snowspeeder that much as its the samee as the old one, but I think the Trenches look nice and its good to see more minifigs than usual.

I like this better than the awful Echo Base that came out recently, although already owning quite a few Hoth sets I have the snowspeedeer, tauntaun, speerbike and E-web blaster covered.

Saying that I like the trenchworks and probe droid and more rebel troopers and snow troopers are always welcome when building a big Hoth diarama.

I really wish though they would release a decent set containing the Ion Cannon and/or power generator.

If the price is good, that's a pretty sweet army builder. You can pass Luke off as a generic snowspeeder pilot and they even included a helmet for Rieekan.

I don't usually use this term when I speak of Lego, but that Hoth set looks lazy. It feels like it's trying to be a Snowspeeder set and a glorified battle pack all in one. If it ends up being around $30, then I'll pick it up just for extras to my Hoth stuff. If it's closer to $40 (which is likely given the number of figures) I'll probably pass altogether.

Was there ever any confirmation of the price? The set itself looks like it can't be more than $40, but it does have 6 figures.

Also, it looks like Riekeen has the new Obi-Wan hairpiece in dark grey. If that's true then maybe I'll bricklink him separately because he would go along well with my other Hoth sets.

I'm sold. I don't own a lot of Hoth sets so something like this is perfect for people like me :sweet:

It looks to me to be a good set to get your Hoth numbers up, I don't see justification in the complaints at all.

People complain when sets aren't suitable for army building, then we get something that's almost nothing-but, and it's a "boring set". If I was an OT set buyer I'd grab a few.

I personall think it will end up running for 49.99$ just due to the minifigs, but I really don't know and I'll probally try picking up Reeikan on ebay just to complete my hoth collection as well.

By the way, I noticed two things about the set from these pictures though. One, Luke appears twice as in the picures, but one Luke has a normal face while the other Luke has a visor, so that's interesting. Two there are no signs of Limited Edition or Exclusive Markings on the Box Art so I guess we really don't know what sets will be Limited Edition sets at this point. Despite this, I still believe that we can expect to see the 2 Battle Packs, AT-RT, A-Wing, Z-95 Headhunter, Umbaran MHC and Rancor Pit as the 7 regular sets and the Republic BARC Speeder and the Battle of Hoth Set to be the Exclusive sets of this wave. Again these are just my predictions and not actual facts.

@Leogcrazy81- I'm actually talking about the Battle of Hoth set itself and trying to say there are no limited edition or exclusive markings on the box art of the set so we can't really determine what sets will be regular sets and what sets will be limited edition sets at this point.

@Snowspeeder Pilot- It appears that the Luke in this set actually has a visor on one side of his head so that something new, kind of exclusive to this set. I do agree though, we need more Rebel Pilots!

Me too. My only Hoth set is this years 7879 so I don't mind. Now, if they'd make a set with the blast door I'd be set!

Actually, I'm sure Riekeen is exclusive to that set.

My hope for a new Rebel Pilot (Wes Janson, Wedge Antilles (New Face), Hobbie, etc.) is gone... I will get this set only for General Rieekan, you can make your Hoth Luke using the Hoth Planet Set and your X-Wing Luke. :cry_sad:

That's a pretty fantastic set if you don't own any previous Hoth sets though. The last snowspeeder model was utterly fantastic, which is probably why it looks pretty much the exact same here.. there's not much you can do to improve it. You get a tauntaun, a recon drone, a speeder bike, soldiers on both ends. Depending on the price, that's a really great value (especially consider what you had to pay to get all those elements in previous Hoth sets). The only thing that's really missing for me is a rebel turret, but it wouldn't cost much to Bricklink the one from the older (Han Solo on a Tauntaun) set.

I'm probably going to be a bit easier on this set than I should be only because I like the idea of a deluxe battle pack; I'm not opposed to having another excuse to pick up a second Snowspeeder especially when the extras are all army-building stuff that I can easily utilize. I'd kinda like to see Lego do more "deluxe battle packs" for other battles e.g. Endor. I'm only unenthusiastic since Hoth has been so well-represented these past few years

I have a gut feeling that the late reveal has marked this set a store exclusive. And another gut feeling that the exclusivity plus the high minifigure count will mean a higher-than-desired price but I hope I'm wrong.
