Duke of wellington Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Rancor pit is good and A wing but apart from that I will only buy the BP's. A mon calamari pilot would make it a great set!!
Faefrost Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 My gut instinct is that Krell will use a well printed version of the Ninjago Garmadon's double arm piece. That is already a fairly new mold that they have so far only used once. I think the presence of the Krell fig is an indication that they would be trying to get more mileage out of that mold. So without that mold already in existence we would not see a Krell fig, sort of thing. You are? Based on what? Lego already have a four-armed torso n Lord Gamardon. Why would they spend thousands of dollars moulding a new one when one already exists? Plus, they will already be shelling out for creating the new head mould. I's very unlikely the torso will be new. Thousands? A new element mold runs into 6 figures USD. $200,000 is not outside the ballpark.

I agree it's a no-brainer on TLG's part that they would re-use the Ninjago quadruple arm torso for this rumored Krell fig. Though instead of a printed torso, one possibility is they could come out with a head piece similar to the new Gamorrean Guard which would give more 'buff' to the torso of Krell, as opposed to a head-only mold that would make the fig look awkwardly skinny.
RocketClone Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Clone Troopers versus droidekas? As a battle pack? Why? Who wants a droideka army? They're too strong against two troopers! When we will get some useful battle packs like 7655 and 7654? Those was the best. Old Republic BP? Intresting... Asteroid as a planet? Sound fun, if it uses the same size as the Death Star XD And Krell minifig? My clones will kill him, not just once :D *raises hand* Also, that Old Republic BP sounds awesome.
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Now i can not wait for next year sets. And i do hope that with the planet 3rd series that the astromech droid is R4-P17. Anyway now i need to save up for some of this year of Lego Star Wars sets, as well as 2013 sets
AMC Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) Someone might have pointed this out before, but we should pay a little more attention to the Planet series. It seemed like with the 2012 wave that the bigger sets went along with those planets. Naboo - Gungan Sub Tatooine - Jabba's Palace, Dessert Skiff, Droid Escape Death Star - Tie Fighter, Sith Interceptor (not really a match, but still Sith) Yavin 4 - X-WIng, Y-Wing Bespin - None (only to give us a new Lobot ) Endor - Endor Battle Pack So if thats the case we could finally see a Kaminoan/Cloning set since Kamino is one of the Planet sets. And also maybe a Jedi Temple since their is a Coruscant Planet set? And what else goes well with Astroids than Jango's Slave 1 or Obi-Wan's Jedi Starship from AOTC. We can only hope. Clone OPatra Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I really don't think they'd just use the Garmadon piece. That piece works well for a whacky action theme, but it looks very silly and nothing like Krell. It's even moulded with ridges, which wouldn't work for Krell at all. I would expect an entirely new piece.
Algernon Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 This list pleases me. The only set I'm interested in is the new A-wing, which I've been wanting for AGES (I didn't want to shell out for the entire playset with the last version). Besides the Headhunter, it looks like I'll be able to concentrate on other themes in 2013.
Robominer Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 My opinion on the new sets: Kamino: I think that LEGO skipped an opportunity to include a Kaminoan. Coruscant: Do we need another Clone Pilot Asteroid Belt: I seriously would have bought the "potato blob", believe it or not. TOR Battle Pack: from me until we have pictures. Clone/Droideka Battle Pack: Yay! Droidekas! AT-RT: I hope they include a new Yoda. A-Wing: Cheap way to get Ackbar! Z-95 Headhunter: Yay! We finally get this amazing ship and Pong Krell! (opinions subject to change, especially, when we get pics. )
DarthPotato Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I would have loved the asteroid to be a potato blob! I'm still interested to see if they're really doing it like it was in the preliminary pictures, the planet being space with asteroids printed on it. That would be a disappointment to me. About Krell, as mentioned earlier I don't think that piece would work for him too well. It's already ridged all over and it should be more flat so it can be printed.
TheBatman Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Dang , I've always wanted an official kaminoan ( I dunno how to spell it ) mould ..... oh well , there's always next year ...
Phil Slender Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I know these are all rumors at this point, but does it seem like the A-Wing will include Ackbar AND a Mon Calamari pilot? Or is Ackbar just serving as a placeholder for the Mon Calamari A-Wing pilot? Because Ackbar coming in a set at this price-point sounds like a great deal.

So it could either be Ackbar or a pilot. Time will tell, it always does.
ghostmind Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Actually if it was a Mon Cal pilot, that would be pretty cool, since there is one in ROTJ.
XimenaPaulina Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Or is Ackbar just serving as a placeholder for the Mon Calamari A-Wing pilot? I don't think that Mon Cal minifig in the A-Wing set is supposed to be Ackbar at all, but most likely this unnamed Mon Calamari A-Wing pilot: I think it's just the combination of the fact that Mon Calamaris look almost exactly alike and Ackbar is so damn popular (It's a Trap!) that any fish-headed SW character is always identified as our good 'ol Admiral. Besides, why would Ackbar pilot an A-Wing when he's the Fleet Admiral right? (and he already appeared in a set with an A-Wing so it'd be nonsensical redundancy). EDIT: I think this closes the case. Y U CONFUSED??? WE LOOK TOTALLY DIFFERENT! "YOU DRIVE WHILE I FILL UP THE GAS."
Phil Slender Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I didn't think it made sense to include Ackbar. I was just hopeful since I don't have him in my collection. But its not like LEGO has never done that before (ie. the 7263 TIE Fighter from 2005 that came with a TIE pilot and Darth Vader). Granted it was a light-up figure, but Vader still had no reason to be included in that set. Also, Han Solo in the A-Wing set makes no more sense than Ackbar. KielDaMan, I love the spoiler!

I get your point with TLG's habit of putting random characters in sets (Queen Amidala in the Gungan Sub, C-3PO in the AT-AT, Princess Leia in the Y-Wing, etc.). I too would love to get Ackbar cheaply in this set but I was under the impression that the set only has one Mon Cal minifig, based on Hulk_Smash's statement: It was a Mon Calamari, with a plain torso. So it could either be Ackbar or a pilot. Time will tell, it always does. Hulk_Smash, did you see two Mon Cal figs or just one? If it's two then it's great to have both Ackbar and this new Mon Cal A-Wing pilot, but if it's just the pilot I'd still be contented since it's a new Rebel Pilot variant.

LEGO will probably make a new mold for Krell, maybe combining his head and upper body into one piece like Frenzy from SP3.
Brickdoctor Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 There already exists a recent torso print for Ackbar, he's never seen in the OT wearing anything else, and I don't think the print is simple enough to warrant a redesign, so the fact that the Mon Cal uses a blank torso makes me think it's not Ackbar.

When connected to a regular torso, Krell would have 4-arms.
Brickdoctor Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Darn. Bricklnk, here I come! If you're going to BL him, make sure you don't get a magnet Ackbar. (unless you don't mind the China plastic) Ackbar was one of the figures that came as a magnet set (with Threepio and A New Hope Leia) before magnets were glued. I got a second one when they were half-off at my LEGO Brand Store, when they were trying to get rid of all the magnet sets that weren't glued.

Bilbo Baggins Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 If that is in fact a generic Mon Calamari, I hope the y don't use Ackbar's face but an slightly modified one.
