Big Cam Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 still waiting for preliminaries.... BrickDoctor has mentioned it before but please stop posting posts like this. TLG is not going to read this post and decide to leak preliminary pictures per your request. Preliminary pictures usually aren't supposed to be seen by the public anyway. If anything shows up thy says confidential we don't allow those anyway. So please stop asking or posting about preliminary pictures. If something happens to come up that is valid, you know you'll hear about it here. Thank you.
DarkFader Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 While I am eager to see the preliminary pictures, I can wait because I think the wait for them will make the reveal sweeter.
Brickadeer Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 While I am eager to see the preliminary pictures, I can wait because I think the wait for them will make the reveal sweeter. I don't think that. The point is that premlim pics are of very limited value with regards to how the sets will actually look. The guy who informed us about the sets saw the prelim pics in the catalogue, gave a brief description and said that basically, they tell us nothing. That's true for the prelim pics of the last wave as well. Pictures of the sets will sooner or later appear on websites of retailers, or sets will be shown during next Comic Con. I rather prefer waiting for official pics than seeing prelim pics.

Well, yeah, but I still think it'll be something of a treat seeing the preliminaries, just like the previous wave, but the official pics will of course be even better. Just my personal opinion.
commander1 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 My problem with the rancor pit is that you can put jabbas palace on top. That would look super weird I think....
Cyberbricker Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 My problem with the rancor pit is that you can put jabbas palace on top. That would look super weird I think.... Especially because there is nothing to put directly under the tower, so when you move through the front gate, you immediately encounter the Rancor! Of course maybe the summer wave will contain a set to solve this problem.
Ritz Brick Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 My problem with the rancor pit is that you can put jabbas palace on top. That would look super weird I think.... There is a very simple solution to this, that has been mentioned before. Don't put the palace on top. You aren't forced to do it, if you don't like it. Leave it.
General Magma Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Er, not exactly. The term "Sith" can be alternately applied to both Dark Side force users and people aligned to the Sith Empire, but the force users themselves do not form military units. Every force user in the Empire is a unique and beautiful snowflake, awarded far higher social and political status than non-force-sensitives. They are by no means the equivalent of stormtroopers. It's more like there are thousands and thousands of Darth Vaders running around. I do think it's unlikely that the set will have anything but Republic and Sith Troopers in it. I'm not discounting the idea of a Sith Warrior completely though, as I think Lego will want to re-use the Malgus armour if they can. Hundreds of these guys were swarming Alderaan during the battle from the SWTOR "Hope" trailer: These all looked the same. There are lots of non-unique Sith in the era of The Old Republic, though there are still unique ones alongside them, especially Darths. But still, many "generic" warriors. And they shouldn't use Malgus armor for these, I'm guessing he will probably appear in another set later on if they ever wish to expand on the SWTOR subtheme.

That's what's called: "We had limited resources making a super-expensive CGI trailer and found it was not cost-effective to design a unique look for each and every one". Don't take it to heart. Play the game - Sith are very, very different from each other. Edited September 15, 2012 by Brickdoctor Please don't quote images from recent posts.
General Magma Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 (edited) That's what's called: "We had limited resources making a super-expensive CGI trailer and found it was not cost-effective to design a unique look for each and every one". Don't take it to heart. Play the game - Sith are very, very different from each other. I've played the game, but some Sith just look similar and there are several Darths with unique looks. Regardless of anything, those Sith Warriors from the trailer would still have to have a place in Jedi Temple Invasion or Battle of Alderaan sets. There are many Sith Warriors that look different, I know this very well, but if the battle packs are based on the Battle of Alderaan, then that's the way to go if they were to include a Sith Warrior. I don't know how much TLG would care about the differences of the many Sith from the TOR game, and as much as I'd like to see them making many different ones for TOR like Sith Inquisitors, etc., I just can't see it happening that quickly (I hope TLG can prove me wrong about this), it just feels like they would rather have one or more generic versions. That masked Sith Warrior design would still be cool for a minifig however. Edited September 15, 2012 by General Magma
commander1 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 (edited) Especially because there is nothing to put directly under the tower, so when you move through the front gate, you immediately encounter the Rancor! Of course maybe the summer wave will contain a set to solve this problem. Honestly I don't think they would do that though.. Unless you build a platform for the tower it is pretty much useless.. There is a very simple solution to this, that has been mentioned before. Don't put the palace on top. You aren't forced to do it, if you don't like it. Leave it. That is one thing but then why buy them?I don't even want them, but I was just wondering about peoples thoughts. Edited September 15, 2012 by commander1
Gunner Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 So, I've built (in LDD) the Rancor pit based on the available pictures. There are certainly some pieces missing, pieces that can't be seen and the Rancor, obviously; the piece count is definetely under 400. I've also connected to the Palace, see how it will look: The gate is hinged to create a suport for the tower. If hinged all the way, the gate function still works. But i think the gate is better placed under Han Solo's side.

Super Brick Collector Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Gunner that doesn't look to bad. I think this would be the next best thing too do.
Bilbo Baggins Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 It actually looks good, thanks Gunner

There's a bit of an awkward gap in the middle though.

Masked Builder Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 That's not actually half bad. Thanks.
Cloney Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Impressive! How long did it take to build that on the computer?
DFOL Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I would think the hinged section would go with the hinged section on the Palace. Agreed, i think they are supposed to hinge together. But on the other hand, this does present a nice way to solve the tower problem without having to build a seperate support structure.
Gunner Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Agreed, i think they are supposed to hinge together. But on the other hand, this does present a nice way to solve the tower problem without having to build a seperate support structure. At first, I thought that too. But the holes under the palace aren't in a square shape, they are separated by 12 studs on two parallel sides, and 14 on the others. This way the gate can only go under the tower or under Han Solo. Some modding may fix that, but both pit and palace would have to be changed.
commander1 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 See that's what i was talking about. They should add that to the set of the Rancor Pit!
darth-3po Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) most of theese sets sound good can't wait till there out but that asteroid I just can't get over such a waste with all of the star wars planets out there. Edited September 18, 2012 by darth-3po
TheRedGuy Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Nice, but how will the gate on the Rancor pit raise when the top of it is blocked by the floor of tower?
Bilbo Baggins Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I hadn't thought about that, it is a great point TheRedGuy.
