2. I know that battle packs are battle packs, and they don't put a lot of effort into the models, but... look how unbelievably tiny they are. We get that ONE speeder in TOR BP, and granted a brick-built gun for the clone, but still!! And the AOTC BP droidekas are absolutely tiny- they don't have arms!

If we look back at past BPs, 7654 had 102 pieces (all droids, none of the more expensive traditional minifigs), 7655 had 58 pieces, 7667 had 81 pieces, 7668 had 82 pieces, 8014 had 72 pieces, 8015 had 94 pieces (also all droids), 8083 had 79 pieces, 8084 had 74 pieces, 7913 had 85 pieces, 7914 had 68 pieces, 9488 had 98 pieces, and 9489 had 77 pieces. The 124 pieces listed on the box art for 75000 shouldn't be anything to complain about. Yes, you can talk about sizes of pieces and amount of plastic, but I really don't think that this BP is that terrible. Also, while the Droidekas are small, they are definitely bigger than any other droid we've had in a past BP.

The helmet on the pilot (or mechanic) looks very un-LEGO? What? first to all, the minifigure is a pilot, this means that you do not know anything about these pilots, the helmet is very accurate compares with the old versions.

You missed my point. The intense detail on the helmet makes it look un-LEGO.

Anyway, what threw me off about the pilot/mechanic issue was the fact that the minifigure is holding a wrench.

Many new helmets: CT , Rep Trooper , A-wing Pilot , Clone Pilot , Umbaran Trooper

I assume , in the summer we will get more phase 1 clones.

I agree with that. Many speculate we're going to get a republic gunship in the summer. I personally love these sets because while lego is paying attention to the figures they're giving the sets detail as well.

Wow thanks for the links and great pictures of the 2013 first wave sets, the figures in the TOR BP look great will get a few of these for sure, nice helmets and full body prints , the Umbarran MHC looks like a solid build but since i don't collect CW will pass, ATRT and Barc sets are OK but I must say the new clone figure designs look good, all in all Rancor is the only set that is a MUST buy for me out of the lot :wub_drool:

I think that there are good and bad aspects of this wave. The two things that stand out the most to me are:

1. In TOR BP, why on earth did they give us two orange clones, and not at least 1 red one to go with the commander in TOR starfighter from this year? I was hoping for a red helmet for him! It would have been nice to see some variation.

They're not clones. The Republic Army back in the time of the Old Republic was all non-cloned. Also, the "red one" wasn't a commander, at least, not of the standard Republic Army, he was in Havoc Squad, the group you see in the Hope trailer, they wear the red armour, however the Havoc Squad during the Galactic Cold War wear different armour again. The orange armoured soldiers you see in the battlepack are the same ones as the troopers you see walking around on the Republic Fleet. Strangely though, the same design is shared with the Athiss enforcer's set..

(Please note I've only got the Athiss helmet on, it's colour matched to the chest which is from a different set, the default colour of the Athiss set is orange, just like the Republic Trooper.)

- No General Solo with the A-Wing!??? What's the point of throwing a Star Wars/Empire Han in a Return set? This has got to be one of the worst figure placements I've seen.

It is a ROTJ Han in the scenes after he got captured by the Ewoks. ANH Han had blue pants instead of brown while in ESB he never wore his trademark vest. The only time he ever wore the Endor camo was when the rebels first landed through to the search for Leia. And unless you got a later release of The Battle of Endor set, most people don't own a definitive ROTJ Han minifigure yet, just the classic non pupil version.

While I don't see a need for Han in this set at all, I'm okay with updating the torso, since I need just one Han at a time anyway, and can always be free to use the other versions of the torso for other characters of my own imagining. However, I don't understand what's so "dated" about the previous torso design, especially how it's supposedly not just a little dated but a lot.

I will say I'm an eensy bit disappointed TLG is still using that hair for Han when the new "standard male hairpiece" introduced in 2008 (used on Mutt Williams, and numerous LEGO Cityfolk) is a much better match, but as long as I can just swap out hair elements anyway it's not a huge deal.

His previous torso design had absolutely no detail. Even at the time it came out it still seemed fairly plain compared to a lot of the other characters. I disagree with you on the new standard male hair piece. It would look perfect on Indiana Jones, but Han always had a more shaggier hairstyle. The classic male hairpiece works better in this case, or even TCW Anakin's.

I haven't noticed it earlier but now that you've pointed it out and after taking a closer look at the TOR BP, I'm kinda disappointed that the Republic Troopers in the BP are those orange Republic Fleet variants and not the red-armored Havoc Squad Republic Troopers we've seen in the Hope Trailer along with Jace Malcolm. I haven't played the game, so I don't know which of the two Republic Trooper variants is more 'prominent' - but I would've really preferred these troopers whose helmet is perfect for the previously released Jace Malcolm minifig:

It's logical not to put the Havoc Squad in a battle pack. It's not a branch of an army like the 501st, it's literally just a bunch of dudes, a "squad". Also, the Havoc team you see in the Hope trailer predates the gameplaying time, which is set I believe to be about ten years after the Hope trailer. Not sure what happened to Malcolm yet, but there is an entirely new team of Havoc Squad:

So Lego was right in picking the Republic Trooper to put into the battle pack. (Cause think about it, both Bioware and Lucasarts would want to be advertising ingame material, instead of trailer material.

I haven't gotten a CW Yoda yet, and seeing this reminds me - does Yoda's rubber head have the same problem with Dobby, where the printing rubs off easily?

Yeah. Any parts made of soft rubber have this issue. Parts made out of hard rubber seem to be fine (such as headpieces for Amidala, Maul, Eeth Koth etc)

Thanks for the clarification, as I have no idea whatsoever about the in-game material and I'm only aware of the trailers. Looks like the choice of troopers on the TOR BP is correct then. (though it would be an easy pass for me now)

The troopers in the BP are equivalant to Clone Troopers, the Jace Malcolm type ones are like Clone Commandos.

While we are talking about SWTOR do those new Droidecas in the clone BP strike anyone as looking a bit more imperial Sith tor'ish than CW era?

I do think they look crap. TLG is incredibly bad with Destroyers, non of them have looked right, or even in scale.

As for looking like the Sith war droids, they would need a new head, and to be grey, but I can see the resemblance.

Whats with the droidekas? I mean, other than the fact that they pretty much suck, there are two different versions in just one season! Talk about inconsistency!

IMHO the best ever minifig of the droideka was in the latest release of the MTT back about over 5 years ago

The droideka in AT-RT is sniper version.
