ETAV8R Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Finally saw the spidey chase and daily bugle sets at Target today. Both look great in person. Daily bugle is even better in person than when shown online. I still need to get some avenger sets still so I can wait a while. Tough to do though as Dr. Doom and Venom look fantastic. Quote
Zilcho Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Wait, which iron man set has war machine? I thought he was reprinted as iron patriot in iron man 3? Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Wait, which iron man set has war machine? I thought he was reprinted as iron patriot in iron man 3?I would guess the Harbor set has Warmachine, but there is nothing to base this on except the set names. Nothing about the sets contents or even the vaguest plot points of the movie is for sure except that there will be a set with Iron man and Mandarin and the Malibu Mansion gets blown up by helicopters. I think War Machine has his old costume in the beginning and paints it in the Patriot colors at some point later. I just thought about it... both Marvel and DC had six main sets last year. The same goes for this year, except Marvel has five. What about Thor 2 sets? Well, this leaves one Thor 2 set. That really sucks, I was hoping for at least two and another X-Men set. I think sets that aren´t explicitly tied to a show or movie are going to be very rare in the Marvel line. They occasionally appear to please the AFOL and Comic-Book fan crowd but are not designed with kids in mind. Seeing how serious and convoluted the Comics stories became I think LEGO has the same view and doesn´t think it would be appealing to kids that much. With Thor 2 there are multiple ways it could go: 1. Marvel gets a big 10??? set as a counter for Arkham Asylum near the end of the year that is something like a "Best-Of" Set of the Thor 2 movie. Much like Hogwarts castle from Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix that included several random figures and items that don´t really fit together. 2. Thor 2 only gets one or two sets that are Walmart/Target/TRU-exclusives tied with 2 exclusive DC sets. This kind of set is generally appearing without foreshadowing and out of the blue. 3. Thor 2 gets his own line (3 or more sets) in November but LEGO counts this line for next year and releases a few more DC sets in 2013 to make up for it and the 10??? set is being reserved for something based on Marvels comic continuity (like the X-Men comic sets) or is being pushed back to next year. 4. Thor 2 gets no sets or a small and crappy one in January 2014 because LEGO has no idea how popular and profitable he is (much like how they ignore Nolans Batman). ReZourceman Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I did a video review of The Bat VS Bane, and made some comparisons to similar sets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cmQ9zHG21Fs Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I would gues Mark II is in the Sea Port Set, and the Iron Patriot is in Iron Man vs. The Mandarin( sound like the final showdown). You know keep the more wanted figures in the more expensive sets, and keep a variation in a less costing set . Lego's standard collecting thing. And I can't take a picture, and I don't have the part needed, I just held the gun where it would need to be on Iron Man. The parts needed are the standard neck holder, a 1x1 clip( the one on top, not side, and ADU gun. Quote
LMB10 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I reckon Thor 2 will get two or three sets. I doubt Lego are going to ignore a profitable release like that in favour of making sure they have equal amounts of sets for DC and Marvel. Quote
Jackattack7 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Tired of the new tumbler? Absolutely hate it? Well check this out: It is impossible to do it in a link format on a tablet. Edited January 13, 2013 by Jackattack7 Quote
Sam892 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I think LEGO may release two Thor sets in the January wave of 2014. Most likey a best off set with Thor, the villian, Odin, Sif and the warriors three. Next year I'm guessing the LEGO direct set will be the X-mansion. I think the it will swap between Marvel and DC each year. A bit like the game has done, maybe LEGO Batman 3 next year and a visual Dictionary for Marvel later this year showing The sets, Figures from Superheroes, Spider-man 1/2 and the game. Quote
just2good Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I did a video review of The Bat VS Bane, and made some comparisons to similar sets. {vid} Thanks for the review man! I like how you covered a lot of The Bat, which I haven't seen much of. Quote

I think that's WetWired's Tumbler which I own in black. It's awesome and better than both official tumblers most clearly in size. -TT Quote
BrickG Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Any opinions on the best HAIR to use for Loki? His minifigure has that helmet which he doesn't use in real combat in the movies and I can't find a good slicked back hair alternative. Quote

His minifigure has that helmet which he doesn't use in real combat in the movies and I can't find a good slicked back hair alternative. Bruce Wayne's hair, Fenrir Greyback for HP had the same hairstyle as Avengers Loki, combed back, really long hair in back. But the gave him the combed back hair in brown, therefore Loki should get the same hairpiece. Quote
Kez Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Tired of the new tumbler? Absolutely hate it? Well check this out: It is impossible to do it in a link format on a tablet. That tumbler is very good, but this is the best one ever made in my opinion (camo tumbler) http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/20174 Quote
Jackattack7 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Seriously support the one I showed you, it has about 6,000 supporters. Only 4,000 to be a possible set. Quote
Kez Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 ^ I supported it a bit since ago, it'd be good if it did get released, but I'd definitely love a remote control tumbler aswell Quote

sologuy369 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) I think LEGO may release two Thor sets in the January wave of 2014. Don't forget about Captain America 2 sets that will probaly be in the winter 2014 wave. edit: scratch that, misread my source. Edited January 13, 2013 by sologuy369 Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Capt America 2 sets would be in March 2014, like the Lone Ranger sets this year. GotG sets would probbaly be in August. Quote
djmangunz Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Seeing as Lego has been using the Spiderman cartoon as a source for sets, I have to wonder if we similarly might see some sets based on the upcoming 2013 CG cartoon of Beware the Batman. If so it sounds like we might see some lesser known characters see the light of day like Professor Pyg, Anarky, and an Alfred who is an ex-MI6 agent. I recently saw a teaser trailer for the show and was impressed by the visuals. The designers did a nice job creating a new Batmobile which echoes designs from the past and merges it with a high-tech slick look. It would look good in Lego form. Here is the aforementioned trailer for those so inclined: http://www.mtv.com/videos/misc/760474/beware-the-batman-teaser-trailer.jhtml Quote
sologuy369 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 This is why i like the marvel(and DC) license, there is so much source material to use like an "in house" lego theme and unlike many other licensed themes. And i thought i saw somewhere theat captain america 2 comes in Feb, but it comes out more in the springtime. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Yeah, we need a Super Heroes version of Alfred. I bet that's why we haven't gotten one yet, cuz they're going to make sets of it, that's my thoughts though. As Katana is supposed to be the sidekick of the show, not Robin, we may get her. Ra's Al Ghul and Talia are supposed to be in the series. Quote

Repeter Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I am sort of new to the Lego thing, especially liscensed stuff. Can anyone explain to me why DC or Marvel would restrict characters TLG can make? I can see if they had big plans for a character, but seeing how many Marvel characters show up in the Ultimate Spiderman cartoon, why wouldn't Marvel want Lego to go nuts? Am I an idiot to think DC/Marvel stuff would always sell well? Quote

You also have to have limited merchandise on the shelves for kids to buy, to many confuses them, including one that have characters they don't know. That why the sets that feature unknown characters, have more characters that are well known. Quote
