I know, I can't wait to see either, hopefully it isn't the palace cinema but I wouldn't mind if it was the tower of orthanc, also my missing lego piece from the bat vs tumbler set just arrived today :classic:

Cheers, I don't think the palace cinema has been officially released yet because a Flickr user called motayan posted them clear pics of it , I guess time will tell and usually if there's a press release it will have a designer video to go with it :classic:

Dang I was hoping we'd see the FF in the CU soon! Damn you Fox!!!

I'm glad to hear that they have Daredevil, Blade and Punisher back. I could easily see Daredevil and Punisher being in the Cinematic Universe.

Now if only Fox will give Marvel FF and X-Men back...

I agree I want to see a the Marvel universe united. I think spreading the rights over so many companies was a huge mistake. I remember hearing sometime back that Disney is trying to reacquire all the rights that were sold. anyone have any clue when the spider man contract is up?

Also, a rumor is out that the superhero contract with Lego is a 3 year one... That would mean it's up after 2014... I hope it gets renewed.

I think the Spider-Man rights like the x films only revert back to marvel if a new film doesn't begin principal photography within a set amount of years.

With the last Spider-Man being recent and successful they won't have this back for a long while. Same goes for xmen.

Disney could buy them back but they have spent a fair bit of money recently.

Sorry Neville, I was thinking we were on about the cartoon series and not the ABC Shield series. I don't see TLG making much of that material. Thought it was more about the agents than more recognisable heroes and villains.

As long as they make movies, they get to keep the rights. Disney purchasing the rights with The Avengers money is just fans' wishful thinking.

I highly doubt Lego wouldn't renew the contract, it seems to be selling well. I'm sure Marvel would want Lego to make sets on Avengers 2 and Ant-Man in 2015, the Justice Leauge film is supposed to come out in 2015 as well so DC would want sets to promote that.

Plus they've barely scratched the surface of the Marvel and DC characters. DC is the Batman show with friends and Marvel is mostly the MCU and Spidey, with one X-Men set.

Exactly, throw ten different colored rings in the set. They'll be important in the movie and who says they won't be magical in the movie? they might be sciencey or get powers due to Extremis. Multi colored rings would be perfect to make Green Lantern rings from. The rings are iconic to the character and I hope they are included by Lego for fans of the comics.

I remember some interview where they said they would be either symbolic or technology based, but I have no idea when or where exactly. In sets I don´t see any use. Mandarin could wear only two at a time and they would look more like donuts and less like his rings because of the missing insignia. They could simply print it on the ring but a new mold would look better. And multicolored? They are all grey and when I look at them they all have differently formed insignias.

Ach, it would just become an unsatisfactory mess if they include the rings. It would be like making a new part for Boba Fetts hand mounted flamethrower or Cad Banes mask thingie with the tubes (which they made). It´s impossible to accurately render those parts in LEGO form. I think the rings could work for a comic-based Iron Man set but I don´t see them making one in the near future. Or ever.

I wouldn´t throw the possibility out of the window that LEGO asks Fox form licenses from their movies. I could see them at least getting the Fantastic Four license if it isn´t too dark.

I guess Fox has 10 years with all of their movies and Sony 5 with all of theirs. With the new Spider-Man they had a 5 year gap and they were at the edge of loosing him. Daredevil has reverted back to Marvel 10 years after his only movie. I guess those counts extend to all their properties. Fox bought their licenses around the end of the eighties I think and they had to do a low budget Fantastic Four movie to keep their rights in 1998.

I remember talk of the guy who is in charge of Fantastic Four reboot trying to get Fox and Marvel to cooperate with their continuities and maybe even doing crossovers or at least cameos but it is unknown if he will succeed. It could work with Fantastic Four but it would need a reboot of X-Men instead of the ejaculated mess that has accumulated itself in over 10 years of Fox letting the writers make up their own stuff without regulations, which I doubt since they finally got something going with First Class and the executives at Fox refuse to do a reboot since it would mean loosing Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen in their self-destructive minds that are the only ones who would have a problem with the same actors playing the same characters in different continuities.

They wouldn't have to. They can just easily make FF sets based from the comics.

I was thinking from a comic fan perspictive, so kids don't get confused, and Lego could reuse some of the colored rings for Lantern sets. I think that the ring mould is to small and round to be printed on. And doesn't the ring already look like a doughnut on Frodo or Bilbo's hand. I think if the rings are important enough in the movie, Marvel would want The Mandarin to have something resembling his rings.

And I just noticed all the rings are different.

Movies are cool, and we are in a golden age of super hero movie themes. That said, I have never really been interested in super hero movie themed collectables. They never, ever look as good as the actual comics they are based on. Further, the colors and style of comics translates into minifigs better than these movies, imo.

Has Lego ever tried doing a licensed property that wasn't based around a movie? I know they did Sponge Bob, but I would love to see an action line from Lego that wasn't hemmed in or tethered by a movie property.

I think it is premature and unproved to say such a license would never work. Without trying, how would we know?

Avatar, TMNT, Clone Wars, Winnie the Pooh, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, and even Batman, Superman, Ultimate Spider-Man, and X-Men.

stinks they can't get the rights back. I hope you're right about them renewing the contract. I hope they start making more sets than the 6 DC 6 marvel they seem to be making.

Well I think we'll get Thor: The Dark World sets. So maybe the sets will be more.

The superman and iron man sets are going to be launching in April according to the Argos catalogue

Interesting, for the summer line, as that's when the summer one usually starts for movies in May/June.

Anything else about the MoS and IM3 sets or is that it?

The Avengers sets came out in April, and the movie came out in May (like the Iron Man 3 movie will in the US, but it comes out in April in the UK), but it's weird for Man of Steel as the movie comes out in June...
