deskp Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) Answeing my own question with a Bigger version: Sadly superman does not have a Henry Cavill face.. Guess they dont do that with movie figs in the superhero lisence? Boo And they seem to have completely missed that part of his "belt" should be same color as the "belt buckle" Edited January 30, 2013 by deskp Quote
LMB10 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 That close up looks great. Zod has a strong chance of being one of my favourite minifgs once I get him. Quote

DJ Bricks Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Well it looks like they're reusing the comic face. But remeber, images sometimes have wrong stuff, like Harry having a hogwarts uniform in the Knigh Bus. Supes second face is very Henry Cavill -ish, so i'm guessing the comic face is wrongly used. And they seem to have completely missed that part of his "belt" should be same color as the "belt buckle" No, not really http://noble-press.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/snyder-superman-man-of-steel-cavill.jpeg Quote

DJ Bricks Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nah, it's just how the action face is for lego's first superman. No, the comic one is grinning and nornal eyes. The Man of Steel one has an angry expression and red eyes for lasers. Quote

I'm nt sayinf its the same expression, im saying its the same face design in a new expression. new expression: yes, new face: no. Edited January 30, 2013 by deskp Quote

I know, I'm saying that the comic face might be misused/ preliminary. I'm guessing the second face on the box is final, the face in the out of box is not, though it might be similar and have a Hery Cavill look to it. Quote

No it wont havea cavill look casue the NEW expression has the same loook as the current lego superman face. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nobody's seemed to throw this one out there yet, but… why the heck is there a random, driver-less car? I guess it's supposed to be a projectile, and LEGO loves vehicles, but really this set to me shows the weakness of sets based on Superman in general. LEGO clearly wanted to do a cheap set with the main hero and villain so kids could recreate the fight, but the 'meat' of the set is a big stretch. I'm not saying that I think it's a bad set; it's good to get the figures and the car looks decent. The point is that the builds in this set don't appear to be exciting in relation to the film. I hope some of the other sets and the Iron Man 3 sets have builds that do a bit more to recreate something important from the movies. Quote

He will have a Henry Cavill styled face. As i said above, out of box pics like those tend to have something wrong anf is not in the final prodect. Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Blimey a lot of news! Iron Man's chin looks a little strange, but come on....that printing is absolutely amazing. Love the figure. And that MOS set looks brilliant too. Is that new hair for Zod? If not it is a fairly rare hair piece I guess? Anyway, its really nice. Great faces for customs and good designs. Superman's laser eye face should be useful for a maskless Cyclops amongst others! Very useful. Quote

True, but my question is why does Zod have the start of a cape just like MoS Supes, but DOESN'T HAVE A CAPE!? Blimey a lot of news! Jackattack7 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) It says on brickipedia, black zero escape comes with supes, Lois lane and zod for £19.99. And battle of smallville is £39.99. Malibu mansion comes with stark, pepper potts, iron man, mandarin and probably Eric savin and its £34.99. The mandarin battle has mandarin and iron man and is £12.99. Finally extremis set has Aldrich killain, iron man and war machine also its £19.99. No iron patriot. Edited January 30, 2013 by Jackattack7 Quote
strangely Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Zod looks good. Superman though, just doesn't look right. I feel like the belt is a bit too bright and stands out way to much. And again the same generic muscle decal. And the hair doesn't really work for how he appears in the movie. It just feels underwhelming in comparison to some of the other superheroes figures. Maybe it will grow on me in time... The set itself looks pretty good for being a small set. Quote
Jackattack7 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 The only set I think I will pass on is the battle of smallville, also interestingly the sets we though would be the largest are the smallest. Trolololo. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Superman isn't doing it for me. That new Iron man is, interesting, to say the least. But I'm sure I'll get used to it. Why can't a picture of Pepper pop up somewhere! Quote
Crownie Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Oh man, this Man of Steel Set looks awesome! Superman was the only comic character I was ever able to get a bit into growing up, so while I've avoided picked up any other Superhero sets for anything other than pieces, I'll definitely be getting these. Awesome! Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I actually like this Superman figure, it really does justice to the movie version by making it look better than it actually is, at least in my opinion. I am also excited for a new expression, if only Batman and Robin could get them. Zod looks even better, though I am not so sure about the face, I think is mouth should be just a little less wide. The set itself does not look bad, but I have to agree with Clone O'Patra. I wish that the rear of the car had a bit more detailing on the top, at lest some plates, but for the price point, it is still pretty good. The rubble has some good parts too, like the lattice tower (actually, that is mostly it besides the slopes). I do hope that the IM3 and other Superman sets are more interesting, and this does help me get excited for them. I just hope LEGO is not showing off the one it is proudest of first again. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Is zod a kryptonian? Yes, along with Faora, Tor-An, and Supergirl. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Neat set....might have to buy one, the only let down is that lame looking car....must be a reason why it looks that way ? Quote
Spider-Man Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Set looks pretty good for $12 but I'm not a huge Supes fan, especially this MoS version from what I've seen, so I doubt I will get it. Maybe the movie will change my mind? Quote
