Omicron Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Looks like the Mark V travel suitcase and I'm betting that it's not printed. Yeah that is what it looks like. Lego making a nod to the previous Iron Man movie for fans probably. -Omi Quote

halomaster96 Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Let's see, where to begin? Minifigs: Mandarin: ; all the rest: Sets: "Ultimate Showdown"- Other than Iron Man's armor, . Extremis Seaport- Great, but I was hoping for a part of a dock for, you know, A SEA PORT. Malibu Mansion- Great starting point for a MOC I was going to start! Quote

North Lego Star Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I have to admit all these sets are pretty disappointing... Iron Man vs. The Mandarin Ultimate Battle Showdown- The name certainly does not live up to the set, I personally was expecting a small kind of dueling area with some pieces that could break and explode, but we're getting a little crappy attack buggy instead? I also don't like The Mandarin at all, I feel like lego really should have put a lot more work into him and this set. Iron Man Sea Port Battle- Sadly I would say this is probally the best set of the Iron Man sets, since you get War Machine. I think if lego would have actually made a Sea Port Area for the boat to dock and stuff it would have better, even if the marked it up an extra 5$ or 10$. I still like War Machine though. Iron Man Malibu Mansion Attack- This set had so much potential, but lego had to make a little poor quality set. It sad to see how lego really sized down the Mansion and made it look like some shed. The minifigs are good though, interested to see why Pepper is in the Iron Man Suit and who that guy is piloting the Helicopter is. Despite this, lego wasted the opportunity to make a large 60$ dollar Manlibu Mansion. I personally won't be getting any of these sets, but I'm interested to see if lego makes a small set to go under the Malibu Mansion because at the moment it lacks an Iron Man Work Area and the whole wave lacks an Iron Patriot Minifigs so maybe we'll see that in the future. CM4Sci Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 http://media.sfx.co....-kingsley-2.jpg I'm looking at this, then looking at the official minifigure. I made this in LDD, and IMO, it looks much better: The beard may look like he's smiling.. but it's better than what LEGO has. -Sci Quote
Endeavour Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The mansion is tiny. Apparently we get two stickers for the hall of armor. No. The helicopter is nifty, but IMO a bit flat. Also, flick fire missiles... This time, they're green. Like that makes any sense at all. Did anyone else notice the suitcase? MK5, or is there another suit that comes in a suitcase? Not digging that Golf cart with eyes and for some reason fire. I'll get it for the figs, i suppose. Hawkeye/Bruce Wayne hair for the Mandarin is not really what i was expecting; I would have thought the S3 Sumo hair was the obvious choice. Also, his beard just doesn't work for me. Will be getting the set with the boat. War machine! That's an interesting solution for the shoulder-gun i suppose. Looks like it will be about $25 over here. Quote
Omicron Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 The helicopter pilot says Extremis.... something on the box. I can make out Extremis. The second word hard to read. And given the effect on his head, with it being the same effect for Killian, seems to be someone else under the extremis virus too. -Omi Quote

Could they be glow in the dark? Either way, both of their heads look lighter than standard flesh tone. Quote

The Iron Man storyline in which Savin originally features sees him working for the government, before being blown up by a landmine, made into a cyborg by the woman he is sweet on and then transformed into a sort of sub-Robocop. There are suggestions that it won't play that way in the film, with strong hints that the plot will follow the Iron Man: Extremis storyline, seeing Savin pumped full of Extremis nanotech instead - giving him super strength, electricity powers and the ability to spit fire from his mouth. The casting of Guy Pearce has seen rumour suggest he will be playing Dr Aldrich Killian, the inventor of the nanotech who kills himself when he realises what he has created and the danger it will cause. http://www.lostinthemultiplex.com/newsreel/item/1457-iron-man-in-extremis-rumours-and-casting-suggest-third-films-direction.html -Sci Quote
thefyfe Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I'm actually liking the mandarin minifig / yeah it's not movie accurate but makes me think far more of the mandarin from reading iron man growing up - might try long black hair piece on him when get him! As for the rest of the figs - amazing!mansion set looks great rest look filler - will be surprised if mandarin has a flame buggy thingy in film.i hope he doesnt Quote

lightningtiger Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Simply one word describes those three sets......AWESOME ! Originally I wasn't going to get those but now seeing there is only three and two of them are small/medium sets......cost will be the only thing stopping me buying them. The speed boat set is my favourite design of the three. Quote
Esurient Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Nice pictures, those sets look amazing. Really looking forward to those sets. Quote
MadMan Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) I'm not disappointed with the mansion because we always knew it'd be small. It was never going to be a huge intricate set like the Arkham Asylum set. At least it's obvious what it is, and the minifigs are great. Edited February 8, 2013 by MadMan Quote
kermit Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) I was actually expecting the mansion to be different like an actual building frame and not just a particular room. The helicopter looks like the wolverine showdown one and not that interesting. There are some good figures in them, but not that great to entice me to get this set which i assume will be a $50 set. I will rather get the two smaller sets since you can get the mandarin figure in there without getting the bigger mansion set and warmachine too. The boat does look closely similar to the robber`s one in the recent police set. And no iron patriot? Edited February 8, 2013 by kermit Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Well, there's "Rescue"! I didn't notice it was Pepper in the suit the first time I looked at the box art but I guess Tony wouldn't be able to catch himself there. I love that they included her in civilian clothes as well. I'm not sure what most of you expected from the Mansion, set but this looks spot on to me. It was never going to be the full mansion at this price. I think they did a pretty good job. It's recognizable for what it is. The Boat set is all right. It's decent price-wise like most $20 sets lately and I'll have to have War Machine. I'm sure there'll be a few neat parts hidden in there. The smallest set does nothing for me. I guess if you need that particular suit variant, but I'm not a completionist. Mandarin doesn't even have the printed legs or cape that he has in the other set. I'll pass on that one. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 I like the fact that the two new Iron Man suits + War Machine + the villain Mandarin can be gotten from two relatively small cheap sets (my wallet will be happy ). And that speedboat is well-designed too. Quote
Spider-Man Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Well, there's "Rescue"! Is that a new suit or is that just the Mk 42 with Pepper in it? Edit: Its the same suit I wish we got an actual set of "Rescue" armor. It would make sense in this movie that Stark would make a set of armor for Pepper so she can protect herself since he seems so paranoid about people knowing who he is and how to get to him. Clanure Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Man, those sure are some stinkers. Decent (not great) minifigs, but I actually am not seeing a lot of variety here. I also don't really see these standing out on store shelves either. I guess it's going to save my wallet a bit. I'll pick them up I'm sure, but I won't be rushing to the aisle to get them. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Is that a new suit or is that just the Mk 42 with Pepper in it? Well in the minifigure gallery, it's labled as Mark 42 suit, so i guess it's meant for either to be in the suit. Quote
