Repeter Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 A Stan Lee figure isn't impossible. I mean, they just did it with Peter Jackson... Lol, that figure needs more...girth. Actually, I really do wish LEGO would release some new minifig styles--chubby/big, very tall, etc. I keep going back to the Lone Ranger set pics and I still cannot fathom how they got such cool, environmental builds and super heros gets a couple rehashed vehicles. I am buying for the minifigs. Aside from Warmachine, there isn't much to look forward there either, imo--we have IMs already, I made an easy, purist Mandarin that is worlds better than the official and the rest of the minifigs are either civilians or baddies in civvie clothes. There just isn't much I look forward to, build-wise, in the super hero line. It really does bug me to no end though--super heros have a proven fanbase, but instead of going the extra mile and giving us creative builds, it seems TLG knew we would buy these sets no matter how badly they designed them...so that is what they did. A boat does not, a seaport make. A wall is not a mansion and I'm not even getting into the fire-trike thingy. Meh, all around. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Guys do you reckon that we will see more Man Of Steel sets at Copenhagen tomorrow? No i do not. The sets at NYTF were under the embargo to avoid movie spoilers of a movie surronded in secrecy, why do you think marvel and Lego lost it when the IM3 sets were revealed. I don't think the MoS sets will be revealed until they're almost due in stores, but i hope we might see one, maybe the Black Zero set. I want to see Amy Adam's Lois in lego and the combat armor. But they may reveal the BTTF Delorean set. Quote
Kez Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 ^ Cheers, there's supposedly going to be a new set reveal, me thinks its the tower of orthanc Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Orthnac revealed tommorow? Sounds interesting. Anyhow, Im slightly disipointed that Lego didn't take the opportunity to make sets from the past Iron Man films. I wouldve loved an Iron Monger or Whip Lash showdown set........ I don't think Lego has the rights to make sets based on the Phase 1 build up movies, i think those still are with Megablocks. Quote
Jackattack7 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I wonder if Lego will release another Marvel set in October, if so I hope for a spiderman set with Electro. Quote

Well i expect sets to be based on Thor: The Dark World to be released in Oct to go with Nov release of the film. I would hope we get more than movie based sets as i would like an Electro based on Ultimate Spidey. And i would like the yellow and green costume, not the electric blue version. In fact i would like figures to assemble the show's version of the Sinister Six(Doc Ock, the Lizard, the Rhino, Beetle, Kraven, and Electro). Plus Spidey's two remaining teamates, Geen Goblin, Sandman, Harry, Norman, Aunt May, and Season 2 Doc Ock. Edited February 13, 2013 by daniel gourhan22 Quote

Sandy Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Actually, I really do wish LEGO would release some new minifig styles--chubby/big, very tall, etc. Granted, neither one of these feature an altered torso, but that would probably hurt the compatibility too much. Quote
Repeter Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) @Sandy: Of course, I know of both these alternate legs. Woody's legs are too big for normal minifig legs, imo. The short legs were a welcome addition, but I was referring to different torsos and tall legs that weren't so...obvious. Still, it's nice that LEGO will break their mold...sometimes. ;) Edited February 14, 2013 by Repeter Quote

strangely Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Bombur has got special fat belly conected to his hairpiece. ;-) Yes, but it's so specific for him it really can't be used for many other characters. I think the point Repeter was trying to make is that we need more pieces like this, but more versatile, as neither of these pieces are that useful because they are so character specific. Yes, this is the point I was trying to make. I am very much into custom work, mostly purist. I know LEGO will never get to a lot of the super hero characters I love. Some new, versatile, body parts would be very welcome, imo, as new pieces. Quote
RaincloudDustbin Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Just found out that Emily Blunt could have been Black Widow. Hopefully that means she wouldn't have looked 60 on the minifig! Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 You saying that Scarlett Johansen looks like she's 60? I don't think a different actress would have changed the minifig design all that much. I do wish they'd stop using those lines to attempt to make the faces look skinnier. It just doesn't work. Quote

If the cheek bones enhance the minifigure and makes them look more the actor/actress it's trying to portray, I'm all for it. But i will admit, i'm still getting used to the cheek bones on female figures. Believe it or not the cheek bones on the Widow fig, despite it making her look older, is accurate to her cheek bones http://www.gistus.com/gs-c/uploads/2012/12/Scarlett-Johansson.jpg Quote
strangely Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Believe it or not the cheek bones on the Widow fig, despite it making her look older, is accurate to her cheek bones Accuracy doesn't always equal a good looking minifigure. Ironically though the cheekbones were probably the only accurate part of that minifigure (As the hair was not, and the torso was missing the trademark red hourglass on the belt (The belt being missing makes me think this minifigure was originally a different SHIELD operative at some point in development and was changed last minute)). And here I was thinking the sloppy figure design was just laziness, now I know it was just a bad design... Well I suppose she'll look better in the sets for the sequel (I can hope anyway). Quote

Well I suppose she'll look better in the sets for the sequel (I can hope anyway). It's not a bad design, Lego just didn't know what hawkeye and widow would look like in the final version of the film. And to me they still look cool, maybe i've gotten used to them. Scarlett is confirmed for CA:TWS so we could get her in a set based on that movie. Lego could have learned their lesson, make her lips pink ( like Padme's and Red's new faces), and make her look like her film appearnce. Or Lego could go cheap and reuse her avengers variant. Jeremy hasn't signed on to anymore Marvel films yet, he's kinda mad that he hasn't gotten to play the Hawkeye from the comics. Quote
LMB10 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) He signed a contact, same as everyone else did. He'll be back for the sequel. I find that Wonder Woman's face on Black Widow's body vastly improves the figure. The darker flesh at the neck is really irritating, though. Edited February 15, 2013 by LMB10 Quote

And just because he signed a contract, doesn't mean he'll appear in a sequel. Like i said he's pretty pissed that he spent half of the avengers playing a mind controled man instead of the Hawkeye from the comic version. Quote
RaincloudDustbin Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I didn't mean to star a conflict nor imply SJ looks old. Just a light-hearted remark that the MINIFIGURE looks older than it should and wondered if it would have made difference based on the actress. Quote

Plus, he was a well recieved character. He wasn't as angry as many seem to think, anyway. He just said that he'd have liked to have more time playing the real Hawkeye, but understood his role was written that way to work in the film. The Wonder Woman head is better than nothing. If you browse through some sites like FireStarToys, they sell various flesh female heads that would make great improvements to the face Lego used. It's a shame, Black Widow's probably my least favourite of the Marvel Mini-Figs so far. Edited February 15, 2013 by LMB10 Quote

I think Emily Blunt would make a perfect Gamora though, just finished watching Looper. The face would be different, and there would be some differences in the body print, that's about. Quote
