eldiano Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Robert Downey Jr has dark brown hair. -Omi I was just curious because the printing on the head of iron man figs are black rather than dark brown so when I put Gordon's hair that closely resembles the one IM 3, it looked a little off with brown hair and black eye brows. TheBrickDaddy Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I wasn't aware there was a Legoland in Illinois. Cuz that is where he claims he bought it. That's because there isn't one. There's a Lego Discovery Center in Chicago, with a rather large store, so he may be referring to that. If you read further, someone else suggested a Bricklink store in Illinois with Legoland (or Leg0land, since on Bricklink doesn't allow the word Lego in store titles anymore) in the title. The point is... we have no idea where he bought them Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 A white blank head, that's definitely interesting, useless, but interesting. The Mandarin figure is really nice, loads of detail. Too bad his hair and beard is awful looking. He has backprinting and double sided face, that looks alot like Kingsley, too bad it doesn't have a printed beard. Quote
strangely Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 He has backprinting and double sided face, that looks alot like Kingsley, too bad it doesn't have a printed beard. It's a good enough resemblance, but it doesn't wow me. I don't really like printed beards, they never quite look right to me. Quote

I don't like them either, unless their beard is short enough to warrent a printed beard, then it looks good. I like the beard and hair choice, they're both 3/4 of the way accurate. Hair should have been a new mould, and beard should have been shorter. Quote
wesker Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Oh ok cool, thanks for the hair notice, but other than the IM 3 sets, and The Man of Steel releases, any hope of seeing more sets for the year or is that it? Thor 2 is coming out in November lol There's still the possibility of a store exclusive. We didn't hear about the Spider-Man/Doc Ock set until mid last year, and thats only because it got leaked onto the Toys R Us website. Quote

It could be the lighting like daniel said. But I just know he has dark brown hair IRL. :/ -Omi Quote
Big T Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I hope for those figs, plus Batgirl, and other Batman characters and non batman figs. To me, Batgirl is probably the most important character that needs a figure, especially since she didn't get a release in the original run either. It'd be interesting to see if and when they do release Batgirl and Nightwing, whether they go off the New 52 comic look. Nightwing especially since he switched from blue to red in the colouring. CorneliusMurdock Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 My daughter would be ecstatic if we got a Batgirl. The microfig might be nice to show her (and if she's old enough to understand the game, that's who she'll pick to be) but an actual minifig would be a hundred times better. Quote
305Bats Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I'm hoping next year brings us Nightwing,Alfred,Killer Croc and a Scarecrow rerelease! We just got a Scarecrow though in Arkham? I could see them maybe using him in another set, but there is no way we will get a new one anytime soon. Not a new one,a rerelease of the Arkham version,I don't want the AA set and Scarecrow is over $25 on Bricklink, too much for me! Quote

GuntherThePenguin Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Wow I am loving that IM3 set! Great figs and I love the actual set too. Can't wait. Quote
refriedbeans Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Great now I have to get the Quinjet! I really do like the house so maybe I'll get a couple and try to make it bigger. Quote
Repeter Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Ok, I am not trying to be controversial or start an e-arguement...I am actually very curious: Whenever I see someone come to these forums to praise these sets, they just say something like, "Wow, awesome sets! I can't wait to buy them!!", whereas the critiques often give a reason for the discontent, such as, "That vehicle looks lame" or "I wish there was some scenery". I guess I am just wondering what it is that those who like these sets actually like? Aside from the minifigs, I just don't see what anyone could find 'cool' about these. Refer to the new Lone Ranger stuff for what I consider to be a good release. I don't even really like Lone Ranger, but those sets seem way more steeped in their particular license. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 I think the mansion is a good set. It looks enough like the real thing and we can see it has a pretty decent interior. I like some of the part choices, too, as I can see MOCing with them later. I'll probably get the $20 sets from both line as well. I think both are fairly good value for the price point. Quote

"Iconic" and "Nightwing" usually don't ring together for me. ;) I would be surprised if LEGO makes him, but if they do, I would expect it to be blue like in the board game, just for simplicity. Quote

He had an apperance in the original theme. I think a microfig(along with batgirl) of him hints a future mifigure. And his blue color has seen more media than his red one. I would expect blue for him. A lot of the times when I praise the sets it's all based on my initial reaction, which is what happened here. I love the Mansion set, but the Boat and Vehicle sets are crappy buildings, but the minifigures blow my mind. There definitely is something wrong with the builds this year's Super Heroes sets. None of them are mind blowing, besides Arkham. Heck, beside Arkham, none of them surpass $50. I think we need a large $70 set this year to have an impressive build. The Malibu Mansion is probably the best set under $50 this year that is nearly impressive, though, but it should have been $30, because that Helicopter is basically a pallet swap of the Wolverine set. Oh, I forgot to mention: I'm starting to dislike the Bugle set more and more as it sits on my shelf. It potentially could of been awesome, but it's more of a disappointment. Though, the Shield Car set is an impressive build. Edited February 18, 2013 by just2good Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 We can indeed confirm that the Chicago Discovery Center is carrying the IM3 sets. Someone over at Brickset grabbed the $20 set and took photos of the box for proof: http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=5801 That's two reports (and photos) of a purchase there. Anyone up for a road trip? Quote
Repeter Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Dang it...I have a shoot next week in Chicago. By then, I am sure these will have been pulled. Luckily, aside from the minifigs, I find the whole line underwhelming. I can wait for underwhelming. Quote
eldiano Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I so want that War Machine fig! They should release pretty much all the characters seen in Lego Batman 2, With the vehicles they were pretty cool and detailed, I just hope that they won't release the robin vehicles in the colors of the game though, but it's refreshing to see in the polybag set how it's red. Piranha Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I think the mansion is easily the best set of the summer wave, so far. Those MoS sets are not very interesting at all, I will pass on all of them except the smallest one with the car. I really like the mansion interior details. Although small, it is pretty nice, it has a little kitchen, Hall of Armor, workshop and desk. That is satisfactory for the size limitations placed on this set for the price. I can understand Heartbreaker not having a space but at the very least the Mark XLII should have a space. I mean it's just sitting there in the corner otherwise, it might as well have a space too. And even if it's intended to be worn it's not like it's being worn all the time. Unlikely, but it would be nice if the sticker sheet had bonus stickers for the MK 42 and you could choose what two suits you wanted to display. Something like the nose art for the RGS a few years back. Quote

There Mark 42 wouldn't have a space because that's suit he's was working on in the movie. I frankly love the mansion and well likely build the bottom half my self. Still happy were even getting Iron Man sets! Quote
Graysmith Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Hard to tell from such a crappy video, but I thought that Man of Steel spaceship looked pretty interesting. I'm also far more interested in the Malibu Mansion set now that it seems to come with a whole bunch of spare Iron Man "armors" (unless I misunderstood, I didn't really read what was said on that other forum). Definitely think the entire SuperHeroes theme has taken a huge nose dive after last year's sets, but at least not all is as bad as seemed at first. Quote
