SoupOrFishOil Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 It looks like it has good parts at least, but it is still easily one of the worst sets in this line and easily skipable. Lois almost looks good, but the smirk seems a bit demented and she has cheekbones. They don't seem to be as bad as on Black Widow, but I think I'll go with a purist one anyway. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 I think that set looks good, though I'll only get it for the Lego Amy Adams, which looks awesome. I wonder since this is part of the ship that comes in the Smallville set, would they combine? Quote
Aanchir Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) High-res PNG image template if anyone's interested: 76009 There are also a lot of new alternate pics of 76002, but unless I'm mistaken they don't show us anything really new about the contents of the set. Jackattack7 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) Sweet, gonna pick this one up. Does the pod attach to the other thing? Also dammit no laptop, can't put a video up on YouTube until tomorrow. Edited April 13, 2013 by Jackattack7 Quote
Kez Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 (edited) That super man set looks pretty good, I'm gonna buy all of them when they come out, thanks for the images Edited April 13, 2013 by Kez Quote
Oky Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 Why is Black Widow wearing casual clothes and what's she doing in a Superman set? Also, that pod... Galidor anyone? Seriously though, that set looks pretty good, even if just for the parts and figs. I think I'll buy this and skip the other two. Quite frankly, I can't imagine why anyone would get the Metropolis showdown over this set since you get Lois, Zod's battle armor, and a lot more parts in addition to Supes and Zod for just a few dollars more. So does this mean they will be released soon? Quote
just2good Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Better pictures of the microfigure Nightwing and Batwoman Batgirl, which I got from the LEGO Cache. I guess it's safe to say we'll most likely get 'em in 2014 in minifigure form. Edited April 14, 2013 by just2good Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 This set is really good. I love that it comes with one of the new guns, so we don't need to buy the Metropolis Showdown to acquire them. But this is not what I wanted, all of the MoS sets look appealing to me. I may need to cut out the Metropolis Showdown, just to give my wallet a break. Quote
TheBatstan Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Better pictures of the microfigure Nightwing and Batwoman, i think it's Batgirl, just2good not Batwoman and the Black Zero set to me looks, meh. the figs look great (why is Black Widow there?) and love the new gun design and the pod looks fantastic. the little station thing looks kind of awkward though after seeing this, im probably only going to get Metropolis Showdown and wait for the Winter Wave to come Edited April 14, 2013 by TDKR2012 Quote
just2good Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 i think it's Batgirl, just2good not Batwoman Eh, I'm not a DC guy... Quote
Drock Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Black Zero set looks pretty weak, but that could be pretty well seen in the toy fair pics. I think I'll be picking up the Smallville set and that'll be it from the second half of this year. Disappointing after last year. Quote
SteampunkDoc Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) On the set, I think it's a fine $20 set. We've been really spoiled with some of the offerings in that price bracket, and this isn't that much worse when you examine it. While it does suffer from the usual MoS aesthetic/design, which seems a step below other stuff, it's got three very desirable figures, and a nice selection of parts. Sure, two out of the three are in a cheaper set, but Zod's got his armor in this one, but you get Lois Lane, and for $8, the upgrade is sure worth it. And that's a new gun ain't it? Sure, there are two ADU guns, but that new one makes up for 'em. So yes, it's not on the level of some of the other $20 Superhero sets, but that doesn't make it terrible. I was thinking about getting just the cheapest set, but now I'll be sure to get this instead. Thanks for the pictures by the way! EDIT: Pros: Zod's armor, Lois Lane, new gun, non-flick-fire missile launcher. Cons: Stickers, nearly the same figures as a cheaper set, poor design. Edited April 14, 2013 by SteampunkDoc Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Thanks for the Black Zero pics at last! It looks pretty crummy, but that's in part due to me having no idea what it's supposed to represent! Are the station bits part of a larger ship? What's the pod for? Is Lois stealing it or what? I do kind of like the pod design, even if it's strange. And this set is much more enticing to me than the other two. I can stomach paying 20 for a set that's really just for the figures, and this one has a great selection: Amy Adams, Supes, and Zod in armor with special mould gun. I'll certainly be picking this one up despite the set itself being grey, ugly, and mysterious. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Yeah, this will be the only MOS set I get. It has Supes, Zod, and Lois. The part count is lower than I'd like but they're mostly large parts on the pod. It's better than Metropolis Showdown anyway. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Better pictures of the microfigure Nightwing and Batwoman Batgirl, which I got from the LEGO Cache. I guess it's safe to say we'll most likely get 'em in 2014 in minifigure form. Omg I hope youre right,I realy want a new nightwing minifig!!! Quote

deskp Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Lois: Why is ther grey waistcoat/vest printed on a dark grey torso, and why is the arms grey when her shirt is white?! Looks like a huge mess. edit: it's only that way on the only photograph (non cg) we got... http://cache.lego.co...1&fmt=png-alpha Also I think I'd prefer one of these as hair for Lois Edited April 14, 2013 by deskp Quote
strangely Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Cheekbones... Lego wants me crazy. Well at least they're not as atrocious looking as Black Widows. I'm not crazy about reusing the hairpiece either (Since it cuts off one side of her face we only see one cheekbone and it makes her look asymmetrical), and it just makes them look even more similar. Oh well, hopefully they make a non movie version at some point. I do really like the set design by itself though, although a bigger piece count probably would have helped the design some. Quote
legofreak86 Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 (edited) Looks decent but oh no the return of the dreaded cheekbones. You can't make a face look thinner by printing lines on it lego! Please accept that!! I thought that after pepper potts they would just use a similar face for lois as there were no cheekbones visible on that figure and she looked young and similar to how i expected black widow should have looked. Also i have just noticed that lois is sporting a suspiciously similar head to black widow the facial expression is so similar it could be the old head with some tweaks made on the front side of face and a new back printed face. At this rate mary jane if they ever make her may look similar to the backside mermaid face on the mermaids from whitecap bay!! The set itself looks alright but it seems strange the platform is just hovering in the middle of nowhere despite not being part of the speeder. Unless in the film in reality this is the exit to the ship and the scenery is on the ship which is hovering nearby? Only time will tell. I do like zod and supes though. The one she comes with seems a bit over used as well. And am I alone in not being fond of the new Superman look? It's just... bleah! It actually seems worse than the Shumacher Batnipple suits. Or the last superman suit. Lego did a decent job in converting it to minifig form. But it still looks horrible. Quote

The_Creator Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 76009 is great, minifig-wise, set looks pretty bad. Much better than buying 76008, although TLG could have done a much better job with Lois. . . I agree with Faefrost, the new Superman look is horrible. Somewhat on the subject of the game, I hope we get a Batgirl and Nightwing soon! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I am not loving the new Superman sets, but at the same time I'm not really into Superman usually. I realize they are the main characters, but to get 3 sets with 2 of the same characters in each one, doesn't make me want to get all 3 sets. I agree with many others that I will probably pass one the cheapest and the most expensive and get this since it has pretty much everything you need. I realize there are other people in the large set, but for the price I can't imagine it being that much better. Thanks for the pictures otherwise. Quote
