The_Creator Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Nothing at Target or TRU, but with a release date of May 14th(maybe), no surprise then. Quote
Sam892 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Well its only Two days until the film comes out here in the UK, so I guess we will find out if there is any inaccuracies in the sets like last year. So far the sets this year have really been a mix of good and Bad. Hopefully next years will be a lot better. Quote
North Lego Star Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Well its only Two days until the film comes out here in the UK, so I guess we will find out if there is any inaccuracies in the sets like last year. So far the sets this year have really been a mix of good and Bad. Hopefully next years will be a lot better. I couldn't agree more, but I still think we'll get a Thor 2 set later this year. Hopefully though, we'll see some 3 Captain America Sets, 2 Guardians of the Galaxy sets and 1 Large Iron Man 3 Lego Exclusive set with the Iron Patriot for Marvel and 4 Batman sets, 1 Flash set and 1 Green Lantern set for DC. Regardless of how good 2014 will be, I think we can expect the best year of Super Hero sets to come in 2015 since we got Avengers 2, Ant Man and Justice League coming out. Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I just want to put it out there now, after some of you guys see the movie please use spoiler tags when relating sets to the movie and such. Thanks in advance Quote
Tauntaunwampa Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Llimited and minor Iron Man 3 spoilers are contained here: I live in Australia and the film came out this morning. I saw the midnight release. As I want to stay on topic rather than talk about what I did/didn't like about the movie, I will keep details about the story minimal and not explain them. There are hardly any consistencies with the sets to the movies. The Mandarin is portrayed as the major villain in this movie though the LEGO but in the actual movie, after Tony infiltrates the mansion, we discover, about half way through the movie, that he is really just an actor and a puppet for Aldrich. In the LEGO sets, I feel that he is the main baddie that coordinates the conflicts against Tony from the frontline as we see from his presence in the Final battle and Malibu Mansion set. The only set that is relevant to the film is Malibu Mansion set. No part of the film is there a speed boat chase scene with Aldrich and Warmachine (Warmachine has already been painted in the Iron Patriot colours at the start of the film) The final battle doesn't even involve Mandarin let alone featuring a giant (not to mention stupid) fire buggy car. The final battle set, could've easily been the best set of the wave, while it would of had to been big it would've been a fantastic set. But no, he is your buggy fire cart with an irrelevant Mandarin The only set that is consistent with the film is the Malibu mansion set. Although, the Mandarin and the Extremis Soldier do not feature in this scene at all. All we really see is the helicopters taking down Stark's mansion. In my opinion, if you're going to see this film, have no expectation of what's going to happen. DO NOT assume character relationships and status' because of the lego set as I thought I could safely do. Actually rather say my opinion on the film. I thought it was the best Iron Man yet, but just because it was the best doesn't mean that it was good. The first was a highlight but still wasn't particularly good. It was the only film that the expectation that I took from the LEGO sets actually ruined the film for me. Quote

Well I hate to explain to people but Lego is has to make the sets in advance, so set inaccuracy is going to happen. They get the one version of the script's major battles and original character designs, they aren't informed when anything changes. This is gonna be fun when Man of Steel comes out. The soldier is supposed to be Savin apparently. The Speedboat is supposed to be the final throwdown between Aldrich and Tony. The buggy is supposed to be the scene where Mandarin is revealed to not be the Mandarin. It's still nice to have a minfig of The Mandarin. Quote
The_Creator Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Someone on Brickset got Black Zero Escape from Argos in the UK, Cowly Park near Uxbridge. Quote
ReZourceman Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I just picked up Battle For Smallville from Argos, Aylesbury. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Please tell me Peppers fate... Alive, but she gets injected with the Extremis, and kills Killian. Happy is alive too Quote
CM4Sci Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Please tell me Peppers fate... I feel like the movie's been spoiled for me. Please refrain from saying things like this un-spolier-tagged. -Sci Quote

Dr.Cogg Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I think in the battle of smallville set , Lego gave faora the wrong hair on the box , it should have been the brown hair not the spiked ( that according to pictures I've seen of her ). Quote

RaincloudDustbin Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Is anyone like me in hoping LEGO don't release an Iron Patriot minifigure now? I mean, I would have liked one in the sets but the chances of one now are likely to be an exclusive or rarity of some kind which means my collection will be incomplete. I'd rather be safe in he knowledge that, whilst LEGO didn't release a key character, my IM3 collection is 100% completed. The same thing happened last year with Avengers. At the end of 2012, I could say that my Avengers were complete with the absence of a non-existant NF. Luckily, when it came out I could buy it with ease. Quote

I wouldn't even have known about Iron Patriot being in the movie if it weren't for reading LEGO message boards. I guess I will have to wait and see what his role is in the movie before I get upset about his absence. Quote

The War Machine armour doesn't appear in the movie, from the getgo is just painted and renamed Iron Patriot. Edited April 24, 2013 by daniel gourhan22 Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 LuxorV is absolutely correct. Keep the movie discussion elsewhere. We discuss the sets here. Do not ignore this warning. Quote
Sam892 Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Can everyone just Private message each other if they want to talk about the film? It's really disappointing to see a load of comments, that when you open the thread are just spoiler tags. Back on topic the Black Zero escape is slowly growing on me. However the Battle of Smallville is still the best by far. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 i find it funny that the largest sets in this wave are the first big action scenes of the movie. Quote

Yes, I understand that LEGO do take their source material from the concept art and stories, but that would warrant only small detail changes, not entire plots. Which, in this case, it does show. CorneliusMurdock Posted April 24, 2013 Author Posted April 24, 2013 just to be clear, was that directed at me or the comment below? It was a general warning but it was more in response to daniel's comment. Yours had to do with a minfigure, right? Quote
Drock Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 i find it funny that the largest sets in this wave are the first big action scenes of the movie. Along with the ironic naming of the largest and smallest Man of Steel sets Quote
Santaduckz Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Along with the ironic naming of the largest and smallest Man of Steel sets Yea, the Mandarin's buggy seems like such a fitting vehicle now.. But I don't understand why they gave him such a focus in the sets really. Quote
