Oky Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Yeah, I don't think the lack of character art in the top right corner is any indication of it being fake. Remember, with the exception of the Avengers sets, the Super Heroes boxes have always had a picture of the main hero included in the set. Like Jackattack said, since this doesn't include Superman, they could have decided not to put an image of Superman there. However, the use of old box art, the lack of a MOS logo, and the glow around the figure do seem suspicious. On the other hand, everything else about the polybag seems legit. That along with the fact that the seller seems to have gotten his hands on the Han Solo polybag early somehow too and have a pretty good track record makes me think that it's real, so maybe the unusual bag art is just an odd choice by TLG or a preliminary mistake, like the wrong colored headpieces in the Han Solo and Chase McCain polybags? I guess we'll have to wait and see. In related news, the MOS sets are available at S@H US now. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 I'm leaning towards fake. The white outline screams photoshop trick. The face looks familiar (PotC coachman maybe?) the bag seems to be missing a ton of usual identifiers, and I think an actual Jor El fig would show a few more differences in its printing. As someone said, in the movie Jor El is seen wearing the blue suit under his outer clothes and robes. Lego would in fact make that as a fig. With some sort of outer garment at least printed in part to clearly differentiate the fig. It looks to be a promotional giveaway minifig polybag, not a retail polybag set. They are normally pretty generous with the printing on those. We would see something more distinctive the a maybe slight color change at the shoulders. If it is real than it is an in store giveaway of some sort. The lack of any product number on the front screams that. Preorder bonuses have set numbers. It still seems like a strange character choice and look? Quote
8BrickMario Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 It is not the PotC head. It looks so familiar, but maybe it just looks so generic yet it's new. It certainly is interesting that Brickset listed it, and curious that they filed it under the Marvel Super Heroes theme. I wonder....??? Quote
Jackattack7 Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 MoS sets are also available at S@H UK. Yeah, and the metropolis showdown is in German. Quote
8BrickMario Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) I think that is odd, too! I've never seen a naming issue before! Edited April 28, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Piranha Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Hard to say, I am leaning toward it being a real promo fig for retail stores in June or July. We might know more in May when the June store calender starts showing up. I hope it is real, as it would be our first real unqiue promo fig this year. Quote
strangely Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Honestly I think it's real. The seller was selling the Han Solo promo figure. Which seems to indicate they have access to promo type figures. Also the fact that the bag is printed and that the torso and head are newly printed elements kind of seems a bit too complex for a fake. And if this person was that talented to make these things to begin with why even bother trying to pass it off for real when a custom of that quality would sell for just as much? Quote
Legoroni Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=45188 Similarly, a fan asked after the possibility of more X-Men Legos to which the panel said there may be more sets coming in September.[/Quote] Quote
Cthulhu Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 About Jor-El, the face looks really like the movie one and there are grey parts on the sideburns and the chinbeard, so one point more for being real! Quote
Big T Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 http://www.comicbook...rticle&id=45188 May be more coming in September, how non-committal haha. I'm guessing that's not a bad sign, but wonder what that means for Thor, will he have to wait until the new year or go early? Hopefully we get another DC set or two if we get some X-men, The MOS sets aren't overly interesting, so it'd be great to finally get Flash/Green Lantern, or I wouldn't complain for more Bat-family members like Nightwing/Batgirl Quote
Santaduckz Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Hang on a sec here. The white line around the fig indicates nothing as to the legitimacy of the fig. I say that because if the guy wasn't good enough at photoshop to past the figure in, then how was he good enough to create the formatting of the bag, as well as the bag itself? I feel like pasting an image onto another image is easier than creating the complex look of thin, bent plastic and the reflection of light off of that. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I suppose a lot of work would have gone into that if it were fake. I wonder if someone will buy it (*ahem TheBrickShow ) and give us an early look at it. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I suppose we could have one or two Thor 2 sets and a couple of X-Men sets and a least a Spider-Man set. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 The last thing I need this year with all of the awesome LOTR stuff coming out is X-Men sets... I'd sure like to see one or two though. Quote

Someone who was decently competent with 3D modeling could do that fairly easily. It looks real to me, though. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Maybe this Jor-El Fig is representative of a recording that Supes watches later or something rather than a prelude of Superman being loaded on the ship to Earth. That could explain the funky outline. Force ghost? If this thing isn't real, I'd imagine the Ebay seller might get into a bit of trouble. And I don't think it'd be worth it for them. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Jor-El is certainly real. Now I really expect him to be on S@H some time around the movies release in June. Also Fbtb.net is talking about a pre-order exclusive Spider-Man Keychain for the LEGO Marvel game. Does anyone know if Gamestop US always had the Preorder exclusive figs for the games like Power Suit Lex and Elrond? All those promotional figs... I really think the Iron Patriot ends up as a US-only promotion for the 4th of July. HHHHHHHNNNNNNNGGGGG I can feel my wallet decreasing right now. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Heres a picture of Jor el from The Man Of Steel and one of Zod's helmet. Quote
greeny Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I saw Iron Man 3 yesterday and I though I'll share my thoughts on how accurate the sets are compared to the film. WARNING IRON MAN 3 SPOILERS!!! Ultimate Showdown- This doesn't even appear in the film! At least they got the Heart Breaker suit right. Sea Port Battle- This never appears either. It is a nice set anyway. Some people are annoyed about the lack of an Iron Patriot mini figure, but I'll prefer a War Machine one instead. Malibu Mansion- This is very accurate! The mini figure choice is great apart from the Mandarin since he doesn't even appear in this scene. They even managed to include a place for Tony to hang out of the window as he falls to his doom Quote

While some assumed they may be working on a Simpsons license, another possibility is they are working on a much broader license with Fox. And Fox has an XMen movie coming out later this year. So we can hope... Quote
Sam892 Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Personally I really hope the X-men stuff is true. Not just because there's a lack of X stuff, but also because we usually get all the sets in the first 5 months of the year. Admittedly last year Spidey had a set in August, but all the other sets came out before May. It's hard to stay completely SH focused when there's is very little happening for 7 months of the year. TheLegoDr Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I'd love more X-men stuff, although since I already buy all of the early Super Hero stuff and then have to move onto other themes like LOTR/Hobbit, I almost wouldn't want them to release more Super Hero sets later in the year and the beginning...eats up too much budget to squeeze in SW also, and then this year with Lone Ranger. I've given up trying to predict TLG's subject choices for licensed sets. They rarely if ever seem to go for the obvious, expected (or loudly begged for) subjects. Quote
